Hi Deb, Cathy and any later posters--

This morning I did disk 34 for chest and back (68 min.). I am definitely stronger. I never was able to do flies on PUB with 20 lb dumbbells for 8 reps or a chest press at 45 lbs., so I am definitely stronger.

You are a good mommy, Deb, for Kelsey. Moms are always worrywarts! The Proposal was pretty funny and enjoyable, although some rude kids were constantly making noise and getting up and down through the film. We did have a few people for a cookout yesterday--our burger and sausages. Really yummy, and I roasted a bunch of vidalias with olive oil, roasted paprika and salt and pepper. For some reason they were really sweet and good--totally unexpected.

Finally some dry weather. DH cut about a thousand bales yesterday and tedded it. It's lovely today and dry and windy, so maybe he will be able to bale this evening. I sure hope so, because it would really lift his spirits.

Cathy, I don't think I could take that monotonous heat. Your temps sound hellish. When do you have good weather--what months do you actually enjoy?

Sunday

Hi,

Today I did STS Chest & back, week 3 of Meso 3. Only this week and next to go and I am finished with this round of STS. Not sure yet what to do after that.

We had a beautiful day here today, sunny, low humidity, about 70-75 degrees.. just wonderful...

Garance, the food sounds great! We had regular old hamburgers yesterday, then steaks for dinner.

Gotta go get the chicken for the week on the grill. We grill up a lot of chicken on Sunday, then use it for lunches and anything else we can think of.

Have a good start to the week!

75'???? that is just not fair. it is 8:30pm and 98 here. yeah , it is pretty bad here. and , it is pretty nice here from like oct.-april. but, it can get hot in april too. but, the rain thing, that is just a constant here. there are years we have good rain, but they are usually few and far between. and yes, hellish is a good work. i always say God sends people to live in s. texas to give them a little taste of hell. LOL! and it will be much worse than this, so i know i don't wanna go there!!! thank God for His amazing grace! it is so hot outside i don't even want to grill. i love to grill, but it is just miserable. when i am outsied i'm doing chores and the last thing i want to do is lite a fire to cook with.

well, i did disc 10 today, and woowee, it is hard. i keep forgetting how hard meso 1 is.

Monday

Good Morning all,

I am not sure who is around this week. I know Joan went away. I just did an I-Tread, 30 minutes.

Cathy, it sure does sound like the pre-test for hell down there!. When you are having your good weather, think of us shoveling 2 feet of snow to get into our cars! I agree with you on Meso 1. I think it is the hardest of the three. I am even considering skipping it when I do STS over again in a couple of weeks. I may put in a week of just cardio and abs before starting STS again, but not sure yet.

Garance this should be your last week of STS correct? I know you will be going on vacation afterwards, have you decided what you wil do for workouts when you get back? I really started to like using those assisted pull up straps, but then the exercises were gone. I forget if she does pull ups in Meso 1 or not.

Josie, how is your DS? Did you have a good reunion?

Have a great day!

Hi Ladies,

I had a nice reunion with my DS. I spent the night in SD and drove back to LA on Friday.
I did spinning on Saturday and Sunday. I will be taking the day off today.

I lost another pound and I'm at 166. I did not do anything at all over the weekend, just stayed home and relaxed.

Are you ladies tired of STS?

Josie

Hi Deb, Cathy, Josie--

This morning I did Gay Gasper's Cardio Crazy (70 min.). This has 3 circuits of step, band work, and hi-lo and 10 min. of abs. Very easy choreo.

Deb, I will repeat the final week of meso 3 next week, and then we go on vacation. I guess that means you and I will finish STS at the same time! It's just that I have been doing it for almost 6 months instead of 3, and no rest weeks. I agree with you and Cathy that meso 1 is the hardest because it's so frenzied. When I get back from vacation, I am going to do a month of circuits I think. I think I have enough of them, and I was intrigued by Josie's work with Kevin.

Josie, yes, meso 3 is kind of boring, but that's probably because I have been repeating all of the disks, and in meso 3, there is no variety at all. Just the same cycles with fewer reps through week 3, then back up to 8 reps on week 4. But I definitely have had strength gains.

Another beautiful day here, but Cathy, we haven't seen any 80-degree weather here for ages. Just 70s. I am happy for dh, because he is finally getting his hay in. I, on the other hand, must wage war against the slugs who are making skeletons of my state fair zinnias. I think all this rain has been a real slugfest. I borrow dh's headband with a light and go out at night to pick them off--nasty little critters.

Tuesday

Good morning,

No workout this morning..I had a very hard time going to sleep last night. When the clock was at midnight, I turned off the alarm, making the decsion that I was not getting up to work out. Well of course I woke up at 3:50 anyway, but decided to try to get more sleep. I didn't mention it here yesterday because I had already posted by the time I discovered that Kelsey's leg had come out of the sling overnight. DH and I made a make-shift sling out of ace bandages etc, and I made another trip to our regular vet, x-ray etc. The good news is her hip is still in place, but they would not re-wrap it because I guess they were afraid of messing around with it too much. it is not really held up too well and we have 2 more weeks of this..

Josie, glad all was good with your DS and your trip. I am not really tired of STS. I may take a break from it for maybe a month, then go back. I ordered a new DVD done by Jillian Michaels. It was talked about on this site over on the Open forum. It's a circuit type workout, with weights. It was only $10 on Ebay, so if it is not great, not a big money loss.

Garance, I think I will adopt Josie's circuit workouts too, maybe for a month. I can see you out there with that light, going after slugs! :D

Hi to Cathy,

Joan, are you back yet?

Have a good day!

Hi Ladies,

Today is my wo with Kevin plus a 45 min walk. My desk is so piled up with files that I need to close for the end of our fiscal year and I don't know where to start. I would pull my hair if it was long enough.

Deb, I got Jillian's DVD's, but have not used them. I did preview them, and thought that the workouts were very easy, but I thought that about my wo's with Kevin and now that I have been doing them for 1 month and see the results I'm a believer.

Garance, I'm glad that you are going to try the circuit training also.

Hi Cathy and Joan.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, and Cathy--

This morning I did disk 40 for legs. About 62 min. Quite invigorating to go back down to the weights from the second week of meso 3 and not feel like it was all that heavy. I guess Cathe is right about the 5 % gain in strength. But very boring, since I have heard Cathe's patter now so many times.

Yesterday was gorgeous, but then last night, a thunderstorm and 6 tenths of an inch of rain. More thunderstorms today. Blech, blech, dreck! No wonder the slugs are having so much fun.

Deb and Josie: how much impact is there on the Jillian Michaels DVD and which one did you get, Deb? I think I have quite a few circuit workouts already, but . . .

Deb, another book I could not put down: The Story Sisters by Alice Hoffman. Quite a few tears reading this one, too.

Hi to Cathy and Joan if you are back!

Garance,

I have the 30 day shred dvd and the nomore trouble zones. They are not high impact.

Josie

Hi,

Just a quick fly by...

Garance, it's the No More Trouble Zones one that Josie has. I viewed on Collage video, then got it for $10 on Ebay. If it is a dud, not much $ wasted.

Hump Day

Good morning,

I did not get up this morning, I am too tired. DH called his mom last night to check on her. She went into the hospital on Sunday, and it does not look good, He called his sister in Seattle who is flying down to California today to see what is happening. He might have to fly out tomorrow. Between worrying about that, Kelsey, and other crap at work happening, I did not sleep well.

Josie, So you got the set of Jillian's DVD's? I hope that one I got is good, we'll see. I guess it's a change so that will be a good thing. Like I mentioned, if it isn;t that great, it wasn't that much money.

Garance, thanks for the book tip. I went over to Amazon to get an idea of what it's about, and you're not kidding on the sadness of it! I may put this one aside for when things are better here..I need some funny, happy type stories. I wish the new Stephanie Plum I requested from the library would get in!

Hi to Cathy & Joan, if you're back!

Hi Ladies,

My wo was very hard last night and I can feel it from head to toe. I lot of push ups and leg and ab work plus the stepper for the cardio part. I hate the stepper!

Garance, I ordered The Help and the The Story Sisters, can't wait to get them.

Deb, Sorry you could not sleep last night. When it rains it pours on the stress department.

Cathy, Are you well done yet!

Hi to Joan.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Cathy, and Joan if you are back--

This morning I did Amy Bento's Kickbox Surge, but the premix without the surges (50 min.), followed by 12 min. of Cathe's yoga abs.

I think I will wait until after vacation to see if I still want the Jillian Michaels DVD. I am going to line up my circuit workouts, though, so they are all ready to grab when I return. I will do a month with you, Deb, of circuits. Maybe I will finally get to use the Timesaver DVD I bought 2 years ago! So sorry about your MIL. You have been under a lot of stress lately.

Josie, I bet you love those books. The Story Sisters does have some tearjerker moments, but I just loved the characters. The last one I read by Hoffman was Practical Magic years ago, and I loved that one too.

Sounds like we might finally get up in the 80s tomorrow, Cathy. Thunderstorms went rolling through last night and we got a ton of rain again. Lots of good stuff growing in DH's garden, though, and if we get some sun, maybe the tomatoes will begin to show.

Just in case--Hi to linny if you are still out there!

UGH! I HATE SLUGS! we, of course don't have many down here. too hot and dry. i'm glad you're finally gettin' your hay in. some people around here are baling, but our plain ole' grass hay is $7.50 a bale. alfalfa at he feed store is $14 a bale. isn't that ridiculous? we don't grow alfalfa here, we have to ship it in from new mexico, arizona, and whereever else they grow it. all we grow here is coastal bermuda. i suppose ya'll grow alfalfa, or clover or something? must be nice to have all that nice hay. do you want to bring me some down?:) i forgot where you said you live. remember, i'm old.:)

i got in a 45m dance cardio today. am feeling very exhausted. meso 1 and the heat are killin' me. i have one workout left in m1, then my week off. it has gone so fast.

and, i think i would rather sweat than have to dig out from under snow. don't think i would like that. i do love our winters here.
have a great eveing all,
cathy

Thursday

Hi folks,

I just got up a few minutes ago, can't seem to get moving this week, too much going on I guess. MIL is a little better as of last night. DH's sister flew down from Seattle to see her and talk to the doctors. We are hoping that this is just a set back and she will come around. She is on oxygen ( she has been for a few years) but right now in the hospital she is on the most that you can have. They can't seem to get her oxygen levels where they need to be.

Josie, great workout!

Garance, when do you leave for vacation? You will probably like the Timesaver DVD, because you can do all the step routines. There is some impact on some workouts, but you can probably modify.
I still wonder what is happening with Linny. Not like her to be away for so long.

Cathy, which dance cardio workout did you do? I feel for you with the heat. it is a crazy summer that's for sure.

Joan, are you back?

Have a good day!

Hi Ladies,

Today is my Kevin wo plus cardio of their choice. I'm very sore today. My spinnig instructor was on crack last night and she said that we probably burned 1000 calories

I'm really going to need a day off tomorrow.

Deb, I will keep praying for you MIL.

Garance, Almost vacation time! I bet you can't wait.

Hi Cathy and Joan.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, and Cathy--

This morning I did disk 36 for shoulders, bis, and tris (66 min.). I will be repeating the final week of meso 3 next week and then (drumroll, please!), I will have done STS for 24 weeks nonstop. Then I will be off on vacation.

Deb, since we are so close to Albany, we get a lot of the state news, and the horrible mess in the senate there. Just curious--what do you think as a New Yorker, and is one of your senators a part of this mess? If I were a New Yorker, I would want them all replaced and be up in arms--metaphorically speaking!

Oho, Josie--so now it's "my Kevin"? Is he a hunk? It sounds like you are really back to energizer bunny form. And yes, I am really looking forward to vacation time. DH will actually relax for a bit. He is such a workaholic--very lean from all the physical activity. He doesn't have to work out because that's what he does all day.

Cathy, I'm really not sure what kind of grass dh grows--probably a mix of types. He is definitely filling up some horse barns around here as well as his own for the cows.

Hi to Joan if you are back!

Garance,

Kevin is very cute, but I would be considred a child molestor. He could be my son.

Josie

garance, must be nice to have a full barn. sorry, i know you told me your name, but i can't remember. but, i am a pentgenarian, LOL!

fox2star-sorry, i forgot yours too:( and i did the firm's cardio dance fusion w/alison. it is so fun and there is a great core/balance segment at the end. i love it.

today was disc 12, so i'm done w/meso1. but, my lower back was quite painful during the deadlifts, so i had to go lighter. don't know why it was hurting. but, i feel like i need to do it again. don't feel like i got into really good today. so, i'll see how the weekend goes.
