Pentagenarians & Beyond! W/B 5/10/09

Thursday!

Good Morning,

Today I did disc #12, the last disc in this mesocycle. I am looking forward to some different exercises, hopefully no paper plates!

Garance, did you like that new workout? was it kickbox or some other type of cardio? length? it sounded interesting using a med ball etc. I will check out that book, see if they have it in the library system yet. Is it new? Not true that anybody can cook! I stink at cooking, ask DH...he always rescues whatever I start and mess up. OnDWTS, sad to see Ty go, he was not a great dancer but I loved his personality.

Joan, it sounds like your tax filings are winding down. I bet you will be so happy when all is done. My desk is a mess now too, with new computer stuff all over the place on top of what was there before.

Josie, If you se this before you leave, have a great time!

Linny, how is the kitchen coming along?

Have a great day!

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did disk 24 (approximately 45 min.) for back and bis.

Deb, the book is very new--still in hardback. I just finished it. Really absorbing. Loved the characters. I liked the mix of things on this Kimberly Spreen workout. 2 kickbox, 2 combat with the bodybar, 2 functional fitness with the med ball. I felt like I also had a lot of work for my abs with all the twisting of the torso.

Tonight it's a banquet for induction to the local sports hall of fame for my younger son. Should be interesting. He was a soccer goalkeeper, a forward on basketball with a great 3 point shot, and on the golf team.

Linny--hope your skin checkup went okay and it's nothing serious.

I imagine you are already headed to the big apple, Josie. Have a great vacation.

Joan, I imagine you will get plenty of exercise with Elliot.

Hi Ladies:
Busy, busy with kitchen decisions. Finally decided on kitchen faucet for new sink.DH heard from granite company today, said that counters will be ready next friday. All cabinets are up,electricity is working so I can now use sink and stove.
Deb:I had a bad weekend with the drinking so I was up 2 pds on wednesdays weigh-in.But this morning I got up and the 2 pds was gone:D. I never excercised with paperplates but I did do plenty of eating off them this week.
Garance:That book sounds interesting.I haven't read a book since the Twilight series. I'm going to see the dermatologist tomorrow, hopefully its not bad news.
Josie: Have a great vacation!!
JoanC:I actually did some cleaning off of the desk at work today. There was paperwork there from last supervisor dated Sept.08.What a mess.Hope dentist appt went ok.
Have a great night!~Linny~

TGIF!!

Good Morning!

I am so glad the weekend is almost here. I have a wedding shower to go to on Sunday, otherwise is it free! I hope the weather cooperates, I would like to get some planting done. I am still afraid of frost. No workout today, I woke up at 3:45, and promptly shut off the alarm, and went back to sleep.

Anyone have any exiting plans for the weekend?

Garance, I requested that book from the library. How was the induction ceremony? How long is the Kimberly workout? Are there pre-mixes?

Linny, bet you are happy to be able to use the sink again. I think out of all the inconveniences, that was the worst one. Washing dishes in a bathroom does not make me happy. Make sure you post pics of it when it is done. The 2 pounds was probably water retention. Alcohol does that.

Joan, Did you workout yesterday? STS? Yes, watching Elliott could be counted as a workout for sure.

Josie, happy NY!

Have a great day!

Hi Deb, Linny, and Joan (Josie in NYC)--

This morning I did Leslie's 4 fast miles (50 min.).

Deb, the Kimberly Spreen workout, minus the final stretch, is 70 min. I think there are some shorter premixes.

The banquet last night was very nice. DS looked very handsome and he gave a nice acceptance speech. The meal was really quite good for a sports banquet, although my baked haddock was swimming in butter. I'm grilling some salmon for dinner tonight and I made a mango salsa to go with it. One of my favorites!

Deb, I'm sorry to tell you this, but paper plates are everywhere in meso 2.

Linny, it sounds like your kitchen is almost done. How exciting!!

I just gave my copy of The Help to a friend, and she just e-mailed me to say that she was totally hooked. It is really good.

Definitely going to Star Trek tonight with DH. He is really busy with his 20 new piglets, his lettuce growing and other planting, and now he plans on buying some chicks to raise for us. He hates the chicken at the supermarket, and I feel really deprived because I have so many good chicken recipes, so now he's raising them for us. It could be a real challenge, given the number of predators we have around here--coyotes, foxes, fisher cats, raccoons.

Back to my writing now that I don't have a good novel to distract me!!

Good Evening,

Garance What is a fisher cat? Chickens sound like a good idea if you can do it. After reading all the negatives I've almost given up on chicken especially eating out. For some reason lately all the chicken out is still pink when it is served and doesn't taste done to me.

Deb Hope your weather is better than mine. It's warm enough but tons of rain.

No wo yesterday. Just before Elliot went home yesterday my out of town brother came to visit for a week. I knew he was coming sometime but he hadn't said when.

I had Elliot again today. I just finished disc 6 legs. Yea I did 1 leg sit and stands. I couldn't do them in Feb.

Linny Fortunately dentist was just a cleaning but all ok. I drank on vacation but have given it up at home. I'm hoping it helps weight loss but no sign of that yet.

Joan

Saturday

Good Morning,

Just doing errands and stuff around here today. It is gloomy and looks like rain so outside yard work may be put off. DH is still sick, I am trying to convince him to call the DR...

Garance, how was the movie? raising chickens ....you will need a rooster, do they make a lot of noise? LOL. Lots of predators...

Joan, wow you can do those one leg sit and stands? I hold a weight and do 2 legs. how are you on the paper plate stuff?

gotta run, DH wants to go out for breakfast and I am not dressed etc...

BB later...have a good day!

Hi Deb, Linny, and Joan--

This morning was my day off, so I just cleaned house.

Joan, a fisher cat is rather like a weasel. If you google it, you can see pictures.

Deb, DH is not interested in laying hens and eggs, so there will be no rooster. He will get a bunch of chicks from Tractor Supply, raise them for about 3 months, until they are 3.5-4.5 lbs, and then they are ready to be slaughtered. According to the farmers he has talked to who raise them for market, they have been so genetically bred that they put on weight really fast and some of them cannot support their own weight and have heart attacks. He talked to one local farmer who raises 100 at a time, and loses about 30 of them either to local predators or to heart attacks. So much for the "humane" treatment of so-called free-range chickens! You let them wander around too much--so that they can realize their full chicken identities (Hah!)--and they either collapse under their own weight or get eaten by a fox. DH also says he has to watch them very carefully for the first week or so or they might peck each other to death. I am with Werner Herzog on this--he has no respect for chickens.

Star Trek was really fun! Of course, I was a real fan of the first two series. I could not understand the whole time warp stuff, but I won't even try. The Terminator films are the same on the time travel stuff.

Have a great weekend, ladies!

Hi Linny, Josie, Deb and Garance,

Just had my car towed to the mechanic. Now it's the starter. I can't believe there is anything else on the car to go wrong.

Deb I actually think the plate work (not the ones in abs) for legs is pretty easy. But I only use 12lbs. I bought the glide things.

Back again if I can get a wo in.

Joan
