Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 5/1/11

Good morning and Happy Weekend!

Happy early Mother's Day to all you great Moms out there! I am my dog's Mom.

Garance, pedicures, manicures and hair are really the only things I spend on myself that I would hate to give up. Anything else can go. Get the works!

Valerie, safe travels. so glad my Dad had already decided and put down in writing that he wanted to be cremated. it made things easier for us. He had already purchased a plot when he bought my Moms in 1974. All we had to do was arrange for the burial of his urn and get the date added to the stone, which was there too.

Off to agility class then a Kentucky Derby party, which will be doubling as a one year olds birthday party. My neice and her DH are too funny, they love throwing parties like a KD party in Buffalo NY. It is KD day though to it makes sense I guess.

Take care,

Joan, LOL about winning so you had something to lose.

I have some old yoga VHS tapes. not Cathe, but yoga is something I don't find works well for me without personal instruction. I'm extremely tight in the hips apparently... even just plain sitting is an impossible challenge. Lotus? Not a chance in the world. It's frustrating for me and my instructors because most of the rest of me is very flexible.

Hi Deb, Joan, and Valerie--

This morning was major Housemax, and I am tired. We are going out tonight to celebrate Mother's Day because my younger son must head back tomorrow to Boston. Our usual place--Mezze's.

Joan, I guess that shows you how much I know about casinos. Never even been in one. I would like to go to Atlantic City some time when we are so close at the Jersey Shore, but gambling just doesn't appeal to dh. He is definitely a Yankee farmer and regards Atlantic City as too "honky-tonk" for him. We did walk the boardwalk there one time, and what was most interesting to me were the many fortune tellers.

Deb, are you going to have a mint julep for Derby day? One of my colleagues (now deceased) was from Kentucky and we had him over for dinner on Derby day and I made mint juleps. Put big tall glasses in the freezer to get frosty, muddle a few mint leaves in the bottom, fill with crushed ice and a good Kentucky bourbon. Wow! they pack a wallop. One was enough for me, but my friend had two while we watched and waited for the race.

Finally finishing this set of papers.
