Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 3/24

Good morning ladies!

Ran this morning! Yeah! Was tough getting up but I forced myself. Going to a tupperware party after work (did not even know they still had these!) Not staying long though. Will catch up on my workout from yesterday when I get home.

Valerie...Vanilla Bean Coolata is a Dunkin Donuts coffee. In New England there is a Dunkin pretty much on every corner. New Englanders love their Dunkin's!

Deb..awesome that you are involved with United way. Always good to help the less fortunate.

Was really sad for me last night as there was a mother and son that I knew. My son was good freinds with this boy in HS but they ended up parting ways do to his drug use. His mom is a heavy user and it was very sad to see them and the condition she (more than him) was in. I think I am at least 14 years older than her and she looked 20 years older, emaciated and pregnant. Very sad. Really hoping things turn for them.

Have a great Weekend and Happy Easter!

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, and Lori--

This morning I did Burn Sets Bis and Tris (37:15).

No, Deb, I'm afraid if we get another dog it will just be more responsibility for DH because the puppy will want to be another farm dog with Max. Hope you don't work too hard on that brunch--that's a lot of people!

Lori, that is very sad. A pregnancy really does not sound good either. I do some voter education for the League of Women Voters, but that's the extent of my volunteerism. Now that I'm retired I should really see if there's something else I could do.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Good morning and happy weekend!

Big day for getting ready for tomorrow...that is pretty much what I will be doing all day.

Lori, Tupperware? wow I haven't heard of a Tupperware party in decades. I switched the majority of plastic containers to Lock n' Lock....they are great and you can get them anywhere, internet, QVC, super markets..however supermarket prices are pretty high. Love that they are leak proof, you can put soup in one and carry it upside down and nothing ever leaks. Enough of kitchen talk.. So sad that you ran into that mother and son...I guess it makes you think about how bad things can get and grateful for what we have.

Garance, I used to think I would want to volunteer at the SPCA to walk the dogs etc, but it would break my heart so I have never done it. I may get Keegan & Kylee certified as Therapy dogs and take them to nursing homes etc..We used to to that with Kelsey & Clancy..

I need more coffee to get moving and start some things...will check back later to see if anyone is around...

Take care,

Good morning!

Been up early today. Finishing up my coffee then off to working out. Did bis and tris last night and today will do cardio leg blast followed by hard strikes to catch up and officially say I finished Xtrain! Seemed to go by quick for me.

Yeah can you believe a tupperware party! Actually did have fun. Lots of wine was flowing! One glass was enough for me. Ended up spending $96. I blame the wine.

Monday i am going to start STS. Bought the DVD's from a coworker and was able to download the guide. I do not have a tower but my son has a bench with the weight rack so will use this. If I do not like using this I may just improvise and use what I am comfortable with. Going to do the rotation that horsingaround posted a few weeks back...combines sts, xtrain, lis, ttm and crossfire. Looks like fun and has tons of variety which i like. My son is planning to do STS with me! We did P90x together and had fun. He will not do the other workouts just the 3 a week STS. He will do his own cardio.

Have a great weekend and again Happy Easter!

did burn sets and core 1 yesterday. today we are spreading a truckload of manure. somewhat humbling but needs to be done. we are going out to dinner next weekend with a cousin so I'm not wanting to go out today too, birthday or not. I lost another pound for a total of 10.4 or .6 in addition to the 6 lbs I'd lost before. I'm getting dates kind of muddled, but I am pleased with the downward trend.
I don't think I look "different" but pants are looser. I guess if you are reasonably fit and there are no obvious flabby areas, it comes off evenly all over. so same proportions, but a little smaller. I think the next 5 will make a bigger difference, but I'm getting closer to preliminary goal so it might be even slower. I decided to re-assess depending on how I looked and felt and what I can maintain without extremes.
eating out is not a priority..... it's very hard for me to get down to the calorie level I need with any restaurant meals.

We bought kayak accessories for my present. I don't 'want" anything, and want to get closer to goal weight before clothes. I got a new watch band, some kayak paddles, and a PFD. DH has been pressing me for some present ideas but I'm blank, so kayak stuff for us both. when I reach first goal...maybe in a month.... then perhaps some shopping.

no wonder I didn't recognize the name.... we have a Starbucks on every corner... don't remember seeing a dunkin donuts in decades. when I first moved here, DH and I used to go to the original and only Starbucks in the Pike Place Market. amazing what's happened since then.
Same way with Tupperware parties. remember from when I was a kid and haven't heard of them since. I recently switched to the rubbermaid containers with the red or blue lids. a costco special, and I love how they nest together and use only a few lid sizes.

That is so sad when you see someone who's made extremely bad choices and is paying a hefty price. things don't bode well for a child born into that situation.

things are turning out pretty chaotic so I feel not starting STS now was a good decision. maybe later in the year. too many interruptions for a 3 month program and it would just be frustrating. my mother is sick now, and has been much of the week. she is mid 90's so I need to fly back soon and see her. the flu.
