Good morning & Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Got up at 4:00 to let the dog's out, then at least got to sleep until 6:00.

Garance, I hope you are having a good time in Boston, the St Patrick's Day events there must be great!

Valerie, have a good one (leaving today?)

Lori, hope the supper went well......

Still need more caffine to get motivated to do a workout this morning...

Good morning!

Cold here today...brrrrr. So ready for Spring already.

Supper went well. Lots of people and great food! :)

Yesterday managed to fit in Ride then walked Chester 3 miles. My legs are tired this morning. I may do some yoga then walk chester. Think that will be it for my workout today.

We decided not to have corned beef and go with filet mignon and crab cakes for dinner today. Yum.

Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Good morning,

Today I did Run Fit, 48 minutes, 312 calories. I am liking this one, once you get used to the chatter...you can tune it out. :)

Up today at 3:30, thanks to a dog that was whining for some reason...Also, around 11:00 pm last night, something happened on the corner, police cars, ambulance, but no sirens, just a lot of flashing lights...we couldn't figure out what was going on. The ambulance left without anyone in it...strange..John thinks it was a DWI or something..I will be dragging after late class tonight.

Lori your legs must be fried!

Garance, how was Boston?

Work, dog class, ;O) then crashing!

Take care,

Hi Ladies,

Back to work! I had a great time with the peanuts and actually got to work while they were here. My DH finally moved his pool table out of the garage, so I have my gym back. There is so much room now and can use my spinning bike and the TM without feeling claustrophobic. I need to buy the puzzle mats so that I can do Intensity in the garage. Lori I know that you purchased some not to long ago and got a good prize.
Can you tell me where?

Hope everyone is doing well. I will be back latter, I have a ton of e-mails.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, and Lori--

This morning I did Supercuts (45:55).

We had a very good time in Boston--Da Vinci's restaurant is very good, and I particularly liked the menus because they lit up so you could read them. I had two appetizers--mussels in a garlicky and basil brother, and two big scallops on a bed of couscous and a sauce that had some figs in it. Delicious! My usual Manhattan. On Saturday we went to the Institute of Contemporary Art and did the harbor walk. Pizza at a place called Figs in Charlestown. The day really warmed up nicely. Boston seems to be absolutely thriving with a lot of new buildings and renovations. There was an enormous garden and flower show in the convention center, a Bruins game in the afternoon, and something happening in the Aquarium because we went by an incredibly long line to get in. My son said, "I don't do lines." I totally agree. We enjoyed his girlfriend very much. She seems very unself-consious, sweet, easy to talk to. Not sure how serious this is getting. We spent Saturday night and Sunday with sil and bil, niece and nephew. She always makes a wonderful meal and we enjoy them a lot.

Unfortunately it sounds like we have another burst of winter headed our way, Lori. Blech! I hope it melts quickly or proves again how "off" the weathermen are in their predictions. DH is scrambling to get the farm and animals ready for the storm.

Hi Josie and Deb!

Good afternoon ladies!

Yes garance what is up with this weather? I am told a foot of snow tomorrow. Someone is messing with us because I know Sring is suppose to start this week!

Yesterday I did exactly what I said...walked chester and and did yoga. I always feel good after yoga I really should to be more consistent with it.

Ran this morning and will do chest, back and shoulders tonight. Two more weeks of Xtrain and we are done with the 90 day rotation. A coworker has a friend that has STS and does not use it and wants to sell it. So I decided to buy it from her since I keep thinking and talking about it. I can't go out and buy all the equipment so I am hoping I will be able to improvise when necessary. I like that you do your own cardio. This really interests me.

Welcome back Josie! I bought my tiles off of Amazon. They are the 12 inch black ones. 12 for $14.50. Nothing fancy and they do the job. I think I needed 5 or 6 packs. I will have to count tonight. I am told Walmart has them for a great price too. They may even be cheaper. You can also buy the larger ones at a great price from FoamTiles.com - Soft Floor Mats, Kids Interlocking, EVA Puzzle Flooring. Here they have a selection of colors. Had I seen these I may have gone with some color. They are currently on sale with free ship too.

Deb...you managed a great workout considering your lack of sleep.

Have a great night!

Garance...Meant to mention Boston. Sounds like you had a great time. I will have to try out Di vinci's. You not the first person that has mentioned this one to me. There always seems to be something going on in Boston. Did you get to Faneuil Hall?

Good morning,

I slept in a bit this morning, no workout, late class last night. We didn't get home until after 10:00...and that is late for me!

Josie, I think I got my puzzle mats at Target, and they weren't that expensive either...

Lori & Garance, I am not sure what's up with the snow this year, but we keep getting passed by, we had an inch or so, but it's already gone...and this was the "snow capital of the world" at one time!

Running late, have to get going to get ready...will check back in at lunch time to see what's up..

Stay warm!

What a mess this morning!

No workout since I drove in with my husband and needed to leave the house at 6:30AM. Must have had about 10 inches of snow at this point. Suppose to get a foot unless they have changed the prediction as i have decided to stop watching the weather. too depressing.

When I get home I plan to do Tabatacise and that is it for workout today.

Deb yes you are correct you guys ALWAYS had tons of snow. Like I said before it has decided to come all to New England this year and bi-pass you!

Have a great afternoon!

Hi Deb, Josie, and Lori--

This morning I did Burn Sets ch, ba, sh (50:45).

Lori, we are just getting sleet here, but it's nasty, and who knows--maybe it will turn into snow. At least we are not being pummeled with subzero temps as they are in the midwest. I am also grateful that we managed to get in our Boston trip before this crap. Nope, never made it to Faneuil Hall this time. Probably a good thing because I love to shop. I think I will do STS after this rotation is over. I will only do the upper body dvds though, and do lower body stuff like barre and the workouts in XTrain as a substitute.

Hi to Josie and Deb!

Well after coming home and shoveling such heavy snow I decided this was my workout and I deserve a margarita. Tabatacise will be tomorrow night! :)

and Happy Hump Day.

I have been up since 2:30...could not sleep, and am too exhausted to do a workout today.

I sold another DVD on Ebay, ( Windsor Pilates set), that makes 8 so far, and I have 8 more listed. I think I am going to hit the P90X series and pull out all the ones from that I never liked, list them as well. Feels good to cull out the dust collectors!

Josie, LOL on the BS...I feel the same way some days.

Garance, like your idea of how to use STS and x-train together. Did you ever try the barre pre-mix on the x-train leg workout? someone said it was only 15 minutes but resulted in killer DOMS.

Lori, good for you for subbing that shovelling as a workout, you deserve the margarita too!

Work, then gratefully no class tonight since the club has a meeting, but I am not going to that.

Take care,

Good morning ladies!

No run this morning. Just wasn't feeling it. Could have been because of the 2 margaritas I ending up having last night.

Instead of Tabatacise I will stay with the designated workout for today which is hardstrikes followed by an extened heavy bag workout afterwards. Saturday is All Out Low impact so I will do Tabatacise after that. Well this is my intention anyways. :)

Deb you have really inspired me to check out my workout DVD's and selling them. I do have a few that I know I will never do. Might as well give it a try.

Have a great day!

Hi Deb, Josie, and Lori--

This morning I did premix 6 on Legs (48:33).

Deb, I only do premix 6 on legs, which begins with barre, then ball, then chair, then floor. I am still 2 days behind on the undulating rotation. I agree on selling off dvds. There are several I cannot imagine going back to, and it makes room for more (Hah!).

Any fans here of Game of Thrones? The third season will start the end of this month on HBO, and it looks really good. I loved the third book in the series, and apparently this is the focus of the third season.

Lori, we didn't get much snow here, but it looks like the cold is here to stay for awhile. I remember last year at this time it was unseasonably warm and went yarn shopping with a friend in Northampton on a day in the 70s. Well, maybe March will go OUT as a lamb.

Josie, it sounds like you are back in the middle of your co-workers BS again. My sympathies and just keep shoveling.

Hi Ladies,

I started the Insanity rotation again on Monday. I did the fit test and compared to the first time I took it I have improved a great deal :) Tuesday I did the plyometric cardio circuit and today is cardio power and resistance. I have not been able to get up early because of the change in time. I just want to stay under the covers because it’s too dark outside.

I weighed myself on Monday and was happy that I did not gain any weight during my vacation. I strayed from my healthy eating for a few days, so I was a bit worried.

Garance, unfortunately I’m back in the middle of the BS :( The new director is making changes that make no sense and that is because she does not know what the heck is going on. Her attitude is her way of the highway.

Deb, I would like to sell some of my DVD’s but I don’t have accounts on E-bay of Amazon. Would you help me sell them?

Hi to Lori and vacationing Valerie!

Josie

Hi all,

I am off today, and tomorrow. John is leaving for Califorinia today, so I have to take him to the airport at 6:00...

Lori, LOL about the margaritas...and not wanting to get up to do a workout. Do you like Hard Strikes? I know you like doing the heavy bag type workout...but as for the regular one...Am I missing something? I think I did it once, and find that I do not reach for it at all....As for selling the DVD's, it's not a lot of money or anything, but gives you a good feeling to clear out some stuff, and not just toss them.

Garance, I have never heard of that TV series...we don't have HBO...did I mention that I got an antenna from Radio Shack, John installed, and I disconnected the cable ..I am going to call and discontinue the service. The only bad part is you have to get a converter box to tape on a VCR with the new tv's...

Josie, you are doing great with that series! I could help you get set up for Ebay if you want to get an account and sell...it's really easy, you also need a PayPal account. Not sure how it works on Amazon selling, Garance has done it and maybe she can assist there...I don't think I could actually sell them for you on Ebay...

Off to get ready to go to the airport...will check back later...

Hi Deb, Josie, and Lori--

This morning I did Bis and Tris + Core 2 (58:05).

Josie, it's easy to set up an account at Amazon. Just find the item you want to sell and then, there will be a little box to the right where it asks, "Have one to sell here?" If you tap on that it will probably (I did this so long ago I cannot remember the drill.) ask you if you want to set up a seller's account. Say yes, give them a routing number for your bank account, and then you are all set. You just find the items you want to sell, describe their condition, set a price, and then wait to see if someone wants it. You get an email from Amazon with a packing slip and address and you send it off. I started my account when I wanted to sell back hardback books that were bestsellers. I read them quickly and they go really fast for selling. I end up only paying a few dollars for recent releases as a result of selling them back so quickly. It also feels good not to have a logjam of books I will never read again.

Game of Thrones is the first of a big series of books by George R.R. Martin that are medieval in setting, but also fantasy oriented because this is a fictional world. For people who like Tolkien they are fun, although much more violent and sexy. Martin also has this habit of killing off favorite characters, which can be pretty disturbing. They are gigantic books, and there are still 2 more to go. The first two seasons on HBO were stunningly well done. I love HBO, so I don't know how you live without it, Deb. I think you like the Joe Pickett series of books? The new one is really good--Breaking Point by C.J. Box.

Hi to Lori!

Goof afternoon ladies!

I did end up doing Hard Strikes and heavy bag. Ends up close to an hour for both. Deb, I love Hard Strikes. I use 1lb hand weights and I am thinking about going to 2lbs next time I do this workout. It does have a lot of jump roping and jumping jacks which many do not like.

Josie...good for you with the Insanity! What an accomplishment. I think I am going to start STS after Xtrain. Perhaps I will work in a few of the Insanity workouts. Maybe one a week with my other cardio. I need variety and when I tried Insanity a while ago I felt the variety was not there. May take another peek at it.

Garance...funny you should mention Game of Thrones as I just started reading the series and I am about 50% thru the first book. Since you have read the books is it better to read the books then watch the series or watch the series then read the books? Reason I ask it seems like there are so many characters it is hard to keep track of everyone! I am loving it though.

Oh...and I ran this morning 3 miles. The episode of Sons of Anarchy was good so I just kept running. Tonight Burn Sets Bis and Tris.

Have a great afternoon!

Hi Lori--

I guess if I were you I would read the first book, then looks at the first year of the series which is out on dvd; then read the second book, look at the series for the second season, also out on dvd, although they have been repeating it on HBO in preparation for season 3, which is based on my favorite book of the series. Don't worry--you will become familiar with all of the characters and know them really well. It is just so wonderful to see them come to life on screen. Peter Dinklage as Tyrion is amazing, and Daenerys is gorgeous. I also love Arya. The actor who plays Eddard Stark was also in Lord of the Rings. Have fun! I can't wait for books 6 and 7.
