Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 3/16

Hi Everyone,

I wanted to let you know that Echo lost her fight this morning. We tried so hard but we couldn't save her. FIP is a horrible disease:(

Thank you so much for your thoughts and prayers the past few weeks.

Judy

Good morning,

Got up and did a KCM Weights workout this morning. Last day this week. I am off tomorrow. Mammogram and bone density scan...joy.

Judy,, so sorry about little Echo...:(...at least she was adopted by great people that made the last few months of her short life the best any kitty could ask for.

Valerie, hope your Mom is ok and they got all the cancer. Like Lynda said, 6 hours for an in-office procedure is a long time, but from what you describe, it sounds like it is not so bad. She sounds like a tough lady!

Garance, I go to bed around 9:00-9:30. Read for a bit. Usually asleep by 10. When do you leave for Boston? Have a great time. Does your DH go to the museums with you?

Lori, good job on those challenges! I have never even viewed one, let along done it..LOL.. Just read on Yahoo news that they may have found a piece of the plane...they are not sure yet...but something large found by satellite in the Indian ocean I think....did not read the whole article yet.

Hi Josie!

Nothing much here...work, then off for 3 days, even with a mammogram etc, it's worth it!

Take care,

Judy,

I am so sorrry to read about Echo. You did everything for that little kitty. He was meant to be loved by you and your DH for this short time. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Judy I'm so sorry. sometimes your best efforts are not enough. Echo had a least a few months of a good life. some things are so unfair.

yes it was a long procedure. my brother felt Ok about it and he is a pretty good judge of what will be too much for her and this was OK. all I know is that it was on her upper forehead un the hairline a little. Like most older folks, she has a lot of skin tags, blotches and scruffy areas. there are a few more patches that need work but this was the big one.

off to yoga shortly. could not sleep last night. woke up at 2 and just tossed after that.

Hi Ladies,

Judy, so sorry to hear about Echo. My prayers for you and your DH.

I went to body pump on Tuesday, spinning on Wednesday and will go to body pump today.
Tomorrow I might take a day off or go spinning. I have a 50 mile ride on Saturday an I'm glad that the weather is going to be on the cool side :).

Garance, my DH and I did not feel the earthquake at all, but my Dd did. Have a great time in Boston.

Valerie, I could not sleep at all last night either. I usually go to the 6:45 AM body pump class and I could not get myself out of bed. Glad that your mom is ok.

Deb, enjoy your 3 days off.

Hi to Lori!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Valerie, Lori, and Judy--

This morning I did All Out Low Impact Hiit with core 1 (49:22).

Judy, very sad that you lost little Echo. I do think you were meant to have her though and gave her the love and bonding she had for these few months.

Deb, DH likes museums as much as I do. We spent one whole day in Rome just scouting down all of the Bernini sculptures. I was entranced with his work. His St. Theresa is very famous and is in a relatively small church where there were hardly any tourists--unlike St. Peter's where there is a lot of his sculpture and you have to deal with the multitudes. It turns out that one of their many exhibitions at the MFI is of the original plates by Audubon. I've seen a lot of reprints, but these are about three feet high and should be stunning.

Lori, thanks for the thumbs up on Fenway. I think we will do that in the morning and then go to MFA in the afternoon. Strega's for dinner.

Valerie, your brother sounds like a very devoted son. Usually it's the daughter(s) who take on this kind of support, so it's nice to hear about a son as caretaker.

Josie, I saw all of these TV blurbs from LA where the newscasters were suddenly shaking from the quake and they looked really scared.

Have a great weekend everyone! I'm leaving early tomorrow for a luncheon before the concert.

Good evening ladies,

This morning was ruthless lunatic intervals. There are 20 workouts in this set and I only rotate a few of them. Need to start trying the others and see how it goes. Tonight I felt like running on the TM so I did 3 miles and it felt great.

Lynda...I saw the clip about the newscasters and the earthquake too. Was so scary. Amazing that you did not feel it Josie. That would have scared me to death! I saw that this weeks Entertainment Weekly has a huge article about Game of Thrones. You like this series correct? I thought you did. I can't wait for it to start up again in April.

Deb...I am the same way. Usually in bed by 9:00 then read for a while. Very rarely up after 10pm.

Valerie...good that your mom has your brother and he is so caring and on top of her health care. That must have been a challenge to remove it from her hairline. My brother had a very large squamous growth on his lower lip that he let go for way to long. He grew a beard to hide it. Men! I forced him to get it looked at. They ended up having to remove a good portion of his lip. His doctor was amazing and did a great job. You really do not notice the scars at all. He was very fortunate. He does now get yearly screenings too.

Thinking of you Judy.

Lori that sounds just like most men!!... wow. he's lucky. could have easily had a different outcome. my brother is the same way. he has type 2 diabetes and does very little about it. he's not having good enough results with oral meds and even though he knows eventually he'll likely have big trouble, he won't monitor his blood sugar or take insulin. nothing gets thru to him.. threat of amputations, neuropathy, blindness, kidney failure, cardiovascular issues and on and on. his doc has tried, diabetic educators tried, I tried. might as well be talking to the wall. the best he'll do is try to lose some weight which helps... but he lives on fast food so not ideal and hard to maintain. It's disturbing because he keeps our mother and my sister( a walking disaster) afloat and if something happens to him I don't know what will happen.

I saw the earthquake clip too... it's funny in hindsight because there was no damage but I have been in a medium one and it was scarier than I thought it'd be. we were outside in the mountains so no risk of buildings falling on our heads.

Hi,

Had mammo and bone density done this morning. The results will be sent to my OBGYN, but at least they did not fuss around and take more views etc. Fingers crossed on results.

Josie, hope the weather cooperates for your ride this weekend!

Garance, have fun on your trip!

Lori, "ruthless lunatic intervals"...I had to LOL at the title of this DVD!

Valerie, your brother does sound like most men...they think they are invincible for some reason. I have begged, nagged, cajoled, my DH to start some type of regular exercise, and to start watching what he eats, but he does not listen...he is overweight, high B/P, etc on meds....and I know if he lost some weight, all that would probably be normal...arrrgh! MEN!

Judy, yes, thinking of you...

Have a great weekend!

Yep...they all think they're bulletproof. at least DH doesn't act like that! Docs see too many big surprises and bad outcomes to be cavalier. he watches his diet, exercises, and keeps his weight in range. still BP issues.... but he takes his meds. sort of a family problem... everyone has hypertension.

Deb, hope you get good results and that it doesn't take long to get them. I hate the waiting when I'm nervous.

going on a road ride today after it warms up a little. sunny and lovely out.

ETA Road ride done, 25 miles. cold to start..... low 30's.... but got nicer later. hard to dress for this... cold to start, then too warm later.

Good morning ladies!

This morning will be STS plyo legs. For some reason I feel like doing this one. Going to try and run 2 miles after.

Spending the day with DS' girlfriend. The weather has been so crappy we have not had a shopping day in a while. Going to check out Nordstrom Rack and a few other shops that we have never been too. Lunch then home. Will be a fun day.

Soooo cold here STILL!!! What the heck is going on in New England? There is talk about more snow next week!

Valerie..nice ride. Send the nice weather this way please!

Deb...I try not to worry when I have those test. Its hard not to though.

Lynda...hope you are having fun!

Hi to Josie and Judy!

Have a great weekend all!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the comments on Echo. She was a sweetheart and we miss her.:(

I'm trying to get back into a normal workout routine again. I had yesterday off so I did a long Cathe session-I started with Core Max 1, then I did Muscle Max and Stretch Max. I really liked Stretch Max, will be doing this one regularly. I've never been one to stretch a lot, and it is probably something I need to do.

My Collage video order got cancelled, I got an email saying I was getting a refund, but no explanation. I assume because they ran out of what I ordered. So I didn't get "Great Glutes" after all. I decided to order "Lean Legs & Abs" & "Flex Train" from Amazon. They had the best price I could find. I also have the 2 new KCM videos on pre-order.

Valerie-Your mom does sound like a tough lady! I hope she is doing ok.

Josie-I envy you! I would love to be doing a 50 mile ride outside this weekend! It will be awhile before I can do any biking outside.

Lori-I looked up the Ruthless program on Amazon, $35 with free shipping. It looks like a good program.
It's so good that you got your brother to go to the doctor. DH is the opposite of most men in that way. Anytime he is concerned about something he goes right to the doctor.

Deb-I hope all your test results are good.

Lynda-hope you have a good trip to Boston.

Judy
