Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 2/16

Hi Ladies:
Another day of meetings and no lunch.I only had lunch once this week,I wish it would show on the scale. One of the nurses ticked me off today, complaining I'm not around enough to help her.Like its my fault I have to go to all these meetings.
Deb:I remember having to peirce my own ears because my mother didn't want my sister or me to have ears done,so she sure in the heck wasn't going to pay for it.I know my DH said he has had to borrow from Peter to pay Paul because of the $11,000 nonpayment. Not sure how taxes handle that mess.I am stuck in a rut too.I could stay in bed all day if they let me.
Garance:I never heard of Frozen River, but I did see The Reader.I missed seeing Revolution Road, which I really did want to see.Sounds like you are really enjoying the STS series.
JoanC:Not sure about the picking up of $11,000 income,I'll ask. Thanks for the info though.Congrats for going to obgyn!I hate that appt almost as much as the mammogram:(
Josie:How's the weather over there? We lucked out in the snow dept.,only had slush when I got up this morning.
My DD told me tonight that her work is cutting everyone's hours. So now she will only be able to work 32hours a week. Her finace' just got laid off last week and they just bought a house this past summer.Nothing like kicking someone when they are down:(

Finally Friday!

Good Morning!

I decided yesterday to take today off as an R&R day. At least Keegan slept until 5:00 which was great for him! He made it through what I am not calling "the bewitching hour", between 3-4am. Maybe there is something that happens outside at that time that wakes him up, then he decides it must be time to get up or something. I hope to get a workout in today, there is no excuse!

Joan, I think you are right on about needing the workout to get energy back. The less you do it, the less you want to. So glad to hear all the good results on your tests etc! I am glad you went. They found polyps my first 2 colonoscopies, so I had to go every 3 years. Then for 2 in a row they did not find anything so now I am at 5 years.

Garance, I used to do the same with the risers, not sure what possessed me to buy these others, a waste of money for sure:(.. My pull up bar is not so user friendly, the door way is too short, still considering the tower. I'll wait to see what it looks like I guess. It may be able to sub as a way to do the incline bench as well so no risers needed I think. My workout area is not organized correctly, so it is irritating. I have to clean it up and get it the way I want it.

Linny, sorry about the work situation...they must be really busy there..maybe that is job security right? What does your DD do? I am amazed at how many companies are cutting hours etc. This is sure a scary time. We took a 5% pay cut as of Jan 1, no bonus this year, no raise most likely. I am just hoping we can hang on without any more cuts or changes. We have been told to let people go with no pay if there is not a lot of work for them. Some departments are letting people go for a week (voluntarily) with no pay if they want. Somehow I don't think this "stimulus" package is going to help anyone but the politicians.

Josie, how are you today? did you get a run in? are you still training for the 1/2 marathon?

Have a great day ladies! I'll probably be back later to check in...

Hi Ladies,

I was very busy at work yesterday and did not have the time to post. My plan was to run last night, but at the last minute my mom called and said that she and my dad and db were in the area and were going to stop by, so we went to dinner. I will make up for it this weekend.

Deb, I'm on my second week of eight for the half marathon training.

Linny, I know what you mean about the meetings. We are now scheduled to have a staff meeting every week, which is a waste of 2 hours every week. Nothing ever comes out of these meetings. The weather here is very nice, it is supposed to be 75 today and tomorrow, but more rain on Sunday.

Hi Joan and Garance.

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did AOS Providence including the final bonus round of snatches (50 min.).

It sounds like everyone is really beginning to feel the strain in the economy. I don't know what to think of the stimulus package, but DH is furious about one of the proposals in the mortgage bailout--the one where the principal is lowered on the loan and the loan is re-negotiated based on this new principal. I don't think Congress will let that one get through, though. Or--maybe everyone should have the principal lowered because everyone's home is being devalued by this mess? But then property taxes would have to go down, screwing up local budgets. I don't know. It just seems like too big a problem created by systemic greed.

Deb, maybe you should find a different time to do your workouts. Are you just too tired when you come home from work? It just sounds like your sleep cycle is constantly being interrupted either by snoring or Keegan and you really need to get those extra hours at night. I did get my Woody bands and will try them out tomorrow, just testing.

Linny, you can get Frozen River on DVD already from Netflix. It was an independent film, so there wasn't the usual studio publicity and junkets for the actors. I haven't seen The Reader, but will, I suppose, eventually.

Good for you Joan on the tests! We will have to nag you again next year. I know what you mean about abs. I MUST start tacking on some abs. Maybe Sunday.

Hi to Josie! I wish winter would end soon. I am so tired of wearing so many clothes and long for days of thin cotton clothing and sandals. You lucky girl!

It's Saturday!

Good Morning all.

I hope everyone is having a great weekend..It's cold here but we only got a little snow so things are good! As long as we don;t have to shovel, and I don;t have to wear boots, I am happy!:D

DH and I are going to Mexico for a week at the end of March! I am so excited! We need this time away, and alone, without being with a bunch of people I work with. It will be the first real vaction we have taken in a long time.

Josie, have you seen any weight loss with the increase in running? I have read in a lot of places that running is the best for weight loss.

Garance, I have to workout in the mornings...my work schedule is not very dependable..I could get home at 5:30 or anywhere up t 7:30..give or take an hour or so, and I am really stressed and tired at the end of the day. I know I would blow it off more times than I have been in the mornings! I just need to get back on track, and stop letting things get in the way. I have done it for months before, not missing a workout, so I know I can do it again. I will start tomorrow with disk 4 and see what happens. I need to lose some weight for the trip, so maybe that could be what gets me on track. I would love a job that started around 10 in the morning, that would be perfect for me! Let me know how those bands work..if you don't mind, can you tell me what you paid for them?

Anyone love what they are using on their face right now? What is your favorite foundation? or moisturizer?

I bought this new "starter kit" from Olay, it's called Pro-X and it is supposed to make a difference in your skin in 28 days..I got it on Ebay, for $37...it retails for $68...hoping it will take away the dullness...I am not that gullible about things they claim will take away wrinkles, or even make them look smaller...

Joan, Linny, hope your weekend is going well!

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I slept in and then did Housemax.

I am so disappointed. I still cannot do a pullup with the bands. I don't know if they are too short or if my bar is too high, but I can't even get my knee into one of them. The only upside is that when I use two of them like tubing, it's much, much harder. I paid 75 dollars for a set of three, Deb, so I am really miffed. I spent 25 on tubing and another 75 on these, and I still can't do a pullup. So much for buying more equipment!

A trip to Mexico sounds just right about now. Winter just won't go away. I think we will be getting more snow tomorrow. Blech!

I vow to do some ab work tomorrow. I've been very remiss on those.

Enjoy the rest of the weekend!
