Pentagenarians & Beyond! W/B 12/14

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did Lauren's kettlebell workout (45 min.).

Sounds like a big winter storm is headed our way, but at least it's snow and not ice, sleet, freezing rain. DH says the weather forecasters always get everyone all hyped up about the REALLY BIG STORM, and then it just fizzles. We will see.

Joan, those desserts sound utterly diet-devastating. Peanut butter cheesecake! At our past parties, people seemed to stay away from the sweets and headed for the ham, cheeses, shrimp, dips--maybe because they go better with a cocktail, beer, and wine. What are you serving to drink?

I will look for the Emergen-C, Josie, because I am tired of these zinc things. Sounds like you have a great vacation planned with your family. Merry Christmas!

Deb, enjoy your time off and so glad you are getting some well-deserved zzzzz. Sounds like Kelsey is already on her road to recovery if she wants to get up and walk. Does she have some pain relief medication?

Let us know how your are doing Linny. Isn't tomorrow your Christmas celebration?

Good evening everyone,
Finished in the kitchen and with only 3 minutes to midnight I don't think I will get any workout in Friday.

I will probably make my choc covered strawberry drink but blended with ice cream so it isn't so stong. The punch is cranberry juice, orange vodka, orange liq., lime aide and 7 up. There will also be beer and wine.
I will also have shrimp, meatballs, a fruit tray, a veg tray, ham with chutney and cheese ball, layered taco dip and lasagna made with ravioli instead of noodles. By the time we have dessert, everyone is drinking coffee. Every year I find new recipes I have never made before just to try them out. Since everyone knows I have a ton of food and at least 3-4 cheesecakes they come prepared to eat.

In the last 20 years I have tried lots of desserts and the only one they really eat while drinking is a cheesecake.

We've had the strangest weather. Yesterday's "ice storm" didn't amount too much because it went from 32 to 33 and then just rain. At 6:00am it was over 50 degrees and by 8:30am is was 37 degrees. Sunday it is supposed to get down to 5 degrees.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, I may not have time to post until Sunday.
Joan

It's Saturday!

Good Morning!

Keegan woke me up at 4:15, where I struggled into sweats , take him downstairs and as I was putting on my parka and hat, (lots of snow out there), he proceeded to lift his leg right in the kitchen right in front of me! I am going to kill him! …I stopped him and hustled him out the door…Just what I need, a back sliding puppy. Maybe he is feeling out of sorts because of the disruption with Kelsey etc…no Deb don’;t make excuses for the little brat!

Josie, I keep forgetting that you work out in your garage...wow that had to be cold! Have a great holiday!

Garance, we thought the weatherman was doing that hyped-up thing too but for once they were right. We got a lot of snow and it was blowing around pretty good all day yesterday. I was so glad I took the day off. Kelsey is doing ok, she does not like the physical therapy excercises we have to do with her 3 times a day though. She does have pain meds, but only given once a day in the am. By nightime she is probably hurting a little. I feel so bad for her.

Joan, your party sounds great! Ravioli lasagna sounds like the best dish yet! Two of my favorites in one dish!

Waving Hi to Linny!

Have a great day and stay warm!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

Today's my day off, but DH and I plan to go snowshoeing later this afternoon. We really did get a nice bit of snow, and it just keeps coming down, but lightly. It's supposed to snow again tomorrow, but it's really nice light, feathery snow.

I admire your energy, Joan. It sounds like you will have a houseful with all that yummy food. Have fun and enjoy your guests!

I went home early yesterday and made my turtles. I have one more cookie to bake, and then for Christmas dinner I will be making a trifle for dessert. After that, no more sweets for a long, long time.

Keegan sounds like such a little devil. And you sound like a candidate for sainthood, Deb. Does DH ever do the morning wakeup call with the dogs? I like to sleep in on my one day off from exercise, and it really felt good this morning because I stayed up to watch Pride and Prejudice for the umpteenth time.

Hi to Linny, and I hope all is well with you.

Josie, I assume, is busy with her "elves."
