Good moninbg!

I started a new week's post yesterday, and cannot find it anywhere! Not sure what happened to it! Oh well, I forgot all that I had said, no big deal!

I did Power Hour yesterday, and my goal for this week is to do the upper and lower body in 2 other sessions from that DVD.

Garance:
How was dinner with your DS and his wife to be? Did they set a date and pick a place yet?

Josie:
Lucky you for getting a few days off! How was the gala?

Linny:
You poor thing! Will they let you use Workers Comp instead of a sick day since you were hurt on the job? The condo is a good idea, but there are not any close by and the cost is too high for us. DH and I are thinking of buying a small house and renting to my Dad and his wife, instead of them renting a not so nice place. We could use the tax benefits. It's a little scary though. Not sure about getting into this at this stage of our lives!

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

Yesterday I did Kelly C-M's Cardio Sculpt (70 min.) and to day I did the horizontal mix on her Cardio Kick Step-boxing (just under 50 min.).

We had dinner at the place they would like for their reception. It's really lovely, but 100 dollars per person?? And since it is an inn, you have to guarantee all their rooms are taken for two nights ($5000), rent a tent, and so on and on. I suggested they try to negotiate with ten thousand dollars as the ceiling. I know "it's only money," but it's an awful lot of "only money." My food was absolutely superb--a salmon appetizer and a pappardelle entree with truffles and an alfredo sauce. A bit too rich ultimately, but awfully good.

Sounds like you are feeling better, Deb. I haven't done Power Hour in years, but I do remember low weights and endless reps. Jari Love is similar.

Hi to Josie, and hope you aren't too crippled, Linny. That was my ill fate this time last year. Feeling pretty chipper this year (knock on wood veneer).

Hi Ladies:
Well my calves and butt are pretty much back to normal.Just an occasional twinge in my butt. That tens unit the first night really did wonders.Friday I started my period:(,thought I was done with that foolishness.I hadn't had one since August, darn it.
Deb:Sorry to hear that you don't have any condos near you.Maybe you could buy a duplex and rent the other half out to help with mortage.I plan on asking about collecting workmans comp. But most places I ever got hurt they want you to use all your earned time than collect. We'll see.
Garance:The food at the future reception sounds delicious.Pretty expensive,I hope her family is helping with expenses too.I did Christy Taylors Dance to be Fit today.I'm going to try my darnest to exercise more this week and eat better.
Josie:Hope all is well and you're back on track after all that Vegas partying.
Have a great night~Linny~

It's Tuesday!

Good Morning!

I did the upper body parts of Power Hour this morning, no abs. I like this one, it's not too fast, not as slow as 4DS or Slow & Heavy, but I can still use some heavier weights. Hopefully I will do the lower parts on Thursday.

It's getting very cold here now, it was windy yesterday too, the kind that goes right through you.

Garance:
Wow that is one expensive place for a wedding! How many people are going to be invited? will you be taking all the rooms at the inn? I remember last year and your pain! Yes, sending good vibes your way that you don't see that again! I didn't see DWTS yet, taped it to watch tonight.

Linny:
Glad you are getting back to normal and the injuries were not too serious. The house plan was to have DH and I purchase it, and my Dad & wife pay rent which would hopefully pay for the morgage. A tax break for us, and they would not have to own a house at this stage of their lives. My DAD is ok right now, but at 84, we are not sure when/if he will need to be in an assisted living type of place. When that happens, I don;t want him to own any property, they could end up losing it.

Josie:
Hope you are feeling ok after your dinner with friends!

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Kelly C-M's 30 minute legs, chest, and back with 12 lb. dumbbells and another mile with Leslie including warmup and cooldown (60 min.). I bought another DVD by Kelly--a 30 minute KB DVD with two workouts on it. I think she is fast becoming one of my favorites.

No, the fiancee's family was formerly wealthy, their manufacturing business went bankrupt, and she stayed in the US to attend college on loans. The 10 thousand is coming from us--but I made it clear that was all we would contribute to the wedding. They both have good jobs and some money of their own to throw in, so it's not entirely up to us, but DH and I have trouble with the whole idea since, as I've mentioned, we just married at City Hall in NYC. We just don't get it.

Glad to hear you are almost recovered, Linny. What is a tens unit??

Very raw here today.

Hi Ladies:
Crazy night at work,I was the only nurse on unit. When we get under 30 patients they cut a nurse so the morning med pass is nuts. I had a patient with a critical high blood sugar so that took me away from my other duties. So no meal break and I didn;t get out of work till 9 this morning:(
Deb:It was very cold last night when I left for work.I'll have to pull out that winter jacket. Good thinking on not having house in your Dads name.I've seen so many people lose their homes to go into assisted living.
Garance:Wow,you are very nice to help out with DS's wedding.Thats alot of moolaa! No workout for me today, maybe tomorrow. Tens unit is a transdermal electrical nerve stimulator. It has different settings so you can have pulsating or constant stimulation, dones wonders.
Josie:Where are you?
~Linny~

It's "Hump" day!

Good Morning!

Well I decided last night to shut off the "workout" alarm and sleep in. DH got home a bit late ( 10:30) from Keegan's class and by the time they settled down and were ready to sleep it was 11:00 or so. There was no way I was getting up at 4:20...sigh....I thought I was doing well this week too.. hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Thanksgiving is looming down on us...who is cooking? I think we will have 17 or 18 this year...a small one for us. The good thing is I have the week off from work, to shop, clean etc...before the big day.

Garance:
YOu and your DH are very generous parents!...I have heard of weddings costing up to the $25k range so I guess you are getting a deal! :D...I saw on another thread that Kelly C-M is coming out with a new KB 30 min DVD...is this the one you ordered? There was a preview of it on the Open forum I think. I have a question on how you use the Murad Essential C cream...do you use a toner first like they say to do on the bottle? I find that it does go on a lot nicer if your face is damp..they also mention this on the bottle. I absolutely love this stuff. I keep getting it on Ebay for a good price, no more than $40 inc shipping. I keep one in reserve, and as soon as I open it, I start looking for another..sometimes it takes a few losing bids, but I get one eventually. Thanks for telling us about this!

Linny:
That really sucks ( excuse my language!) about being the only nurse on the floor if there are less than 30 patients!...How scary is that for the patients, and horrible for the poor nurse! If 2 patients are in real need, how do you do it? ..yep, I got the winter coat out this week too. :(..How have you been feeling lately? I keep seeing an ad for a RA med on TV and I think of you when I see it..you have sounded good lately so I am hoping all is under control and you are doing ok.

Josie:
How are you? Check in and let us know how you are doing.

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Ladies,

I'm back! I had a good 4 day weekend, I walked 9.5 miles on Saturday and 6.8 on Sunday, let me tell you. My hips were very sore on Monday, so I took the day off and slept until 9:00 AM. I must have needed it, sice I went to bed late Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Yesterday I did 45 minutes on the elliptical and today I did PP and will be spinning tonight (45min).

I had a good time with the girls and a good visit with my brothers and DM on Saturday, the rest of the days I just rested.

My whole family is coming to my house fot Thanksgiving and my DS will be back from his deployment on Nov. 25th, I can't wait to see him an hug him. I have missed him very much. We also got good news this weekend, my DD has been accepted to Loyola Marimount University fo the Spring semester. This school is only 3 blocks from my house.
It is a Catholic University. We are very happy! I have missed her a great deal to.

Linny, I'm glad that your injury was not very bad.

Garance, I'm already saving for my DD's wedding, I know that it will be expensive.
What DVD's are you talking about? and where can I find them.

Deb, I'm gald that you are back on track, this is my 8th week on the waggon and I feel great!

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did the vertical premix on Kelly C-M's Cardio Kick Step-boxing (40 min.).

Yes, Deb, that's the KB DVD I mentioned. I thought you would like the 30 minute limit. I bought it at her presale for 14 dollars at coffeyfit.com. I thought the clip looked great. One of the things I like about all of her DVDs is that she has a really good modifier. I wish Cathe would do that on some of her more difficult routines. I, too, love that Essential-C stuff. I put it on after I get out of the shower, so my face is still damp.

Hey Linny, that tens unit sounds like a fancy vibrator. Where exactly did they put it on you?? (suppressed giggle)

Hey--ten thousand is nothing compared to what we paid for two college educations. But I just cannot see spending a fortune for a wedding. They will have to figure it out. Oh--and DH and I will be hosting a buffet the night before at our house for the wedding party, relatives and friends, but a lot of this comes from 1) our store of meat, 2) my cooking, and 3) a local caterer who trades her services for DH's wood.

Hi Josie!!!

It's Thursday!

Good Morning,
javascript:emoticon('')
Another night on the couch...DH and I had a talk this morning.

This has got to stop!. We need to get him back on a healthier track with food and excercise. He needs to lose weight. I think this will help the snoring. When he was 30 pounds lighter he did not snore.. wish me luck!

Josie:
Welcome back! Glad to hear you had a good time. 9.5 miles??..how long does that take? bet you are so excited about DS coming home! Your daughter will be so close! That is great news too..

Garance:
I am really trying not to buy any more DVD's waiting for the elusive STS!, so even though I may be tempted by a new Kelly C-M, I am not going to look at it any more! I am starting to worry about whether I will be able to do an hour workout if they ever do get here...I have my body kind of used to 30-40 minutes during the week. I can do an hour on Sunday. We see where your mind is on that Tens machine......LOL...thanks for the tip on the Murad...

Linny:
Hope you had an easy night at work and got some good sleep!

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Kelly C-M's 30 min. weights for bis, tris, and shoulders with 8's, and one 12 for tris and bis and one 15 for shoulders, followed by 2 miles with Leslie, no warmup or cooldown (60 min. total).

Welcome back Josie! Those are some walks you go on. Is it on flat or hilly terrain? On the DVDs--I saw some excitement about Kelly Coffey-Meyer's new Kickbox and Bootcamp DVDs over on the open forum and checked out the clip at her site, Coffeyfit.com for the KB. I really like her, and the clip looked good, so I preordered it.

I know what you mean about STS, Deb. IT IS TAKING WAY, WAY TOO LONG!!! One of the reasons I have been enjoying my new Kelly DVDs is that I am unhappy with Cathe on these and absolutely refuse to be a lemming the next time she announces a new project. Besides, I think I am getting too old for her, and she never shows a modifier and just keeps getting tougher and tougher. I wish I could rent another Kettlebell workout from Netflix, but this is one kind of DVD they don't have. I'm doing Lauren again tomorrow, but feel less enthused than dogged about it. There is no fun factor in her workout.

Well, I'm going to be 62 on Saturday. We're going out tomorrow night to "celebrate." Aren't you a November Scorpio, too, Linny??

Okay, Deb, here's another must-have for me: Amazing Grace body lotion and bath gel. The bath gel has some kind of milky base that leaves my skin feeling soft and silky, and I love the fragrance of the body lotion. Gee, I hope you get some zzzzz. The snoring sounds horrendous.

Hi Ladies,

I ended up doing 2 miles on the threadmill and 1 hour spinning last night. My spinning class ended at 7:30 and the instructor usually says to drink plenty of water after, so I went home and had 32oz of a water and cranberry juice mix. Well, let me tell you I was up all night goint to the bathroom every half hour.

Today is a cardio day for me, I don't know what I will be doing, but it will be a 45 min to one hour machine.

Deb, I hope you get some rest tonight.

Garance, I have been trying to use all of the lotions and perfumes that I already have and have not been buying anithing new, but I'm always temted.

Hi Linny,

Have a great day.

Josie

Finally Froday!!

Good Morning!

Well I did have a good nights sleep last night...no snoring , or I was so exhausted that I didn't hear it!...DH got up with the dogs at about 4:00...and I kind of heard that but went back to sleep...at 5:30 a wet long nose poked me in the eye...( DH left the gate at the bottom of the stairs pulled aside)...but that was ok..I feel a lot better today, even though I did not work out.

Garance:
I agree on the Cathe situation...I may have to break the STS workouts down to 30 minute sessions, but then I don;t know when I would get my cardio in...sigh...or I will have to give up my morning computer time! oh no.....Which one of the Amazing Grace do you use? I went over to Ebay and there are all kinds of stuff...even a "firming" one..which is what I would need...:D...Happy Early Birthday! ..p.s you are NOT too old for Cathe...but I agree that she should show some modifications..I think there may be some in STS...not sure..

Josie:
WOW..you do 2 miles on the treadmill, then an hour spinning, and the next day is cardio?? Yikes woman! I also tried to do what you are doing with using up all the "stuff" that I have. I can;t keep from buying new ones though..

Linny:
How are you? Any plans for the weekend?

John is leaving for hunting this afternoon...I will be single until Sunday! ( p.s for those that don't like hunting...he never takes a shot, just likes to sit out there and "commune" with nature!)..

Have a great day!

Deb

Good Morning Deb, Linny and Garance,

I ended up doing 45 minutes on the threadmill at a 15 min per mile and 4% incline.
Today I did SS and I plan to walk for 1 hour and 1 hour of spinning on Saturday.

Sunday we will be doing a 5k for ovarian cancer and we will also be honoring the memory of my friend Jeannie who died of lung cancer. This race was her favorite and she always volunteered. This will be our 3rd year. Last year we puched her on her wheel chair, there were 80 people on team JennieXOXO. I'm sure there will be just as many this year.

I miss my friend! I know that there will be a lot of tears along the course.

Garance, Happy early birthday, I will have a Manhattan in your name.

Linny, How are you? Are your muscles ok now?

Have a great weekend everyone!

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Lauren's kettlebell routine (45 min.).

Deb, I like the Amazing Grace body lotion and the bath stuff is also listed as a shampoo, but I don't use it for that. So glad you managed to get some sleep last night. The older I get, the more I treasure a good night's sleep. I think it's because of all the sleep disturbance getting through menopause. Before menopause, I had no trouble with sleep--7 hours of uninterrupted sleep (except for my babies and toddlers). Then menopause and night sweats. Now that that is over, I still wake up once per night and now and then I have problems getting back to sleep.

32 oz.of water plus cranberry juice! I've heard of hydrating, Josie, but that sounds like a deluge. I thought you could also get sick from drinking too much water--like some marathoners.

Weird weather here. Yesterday it was chilling and raw. Today it's going up into the 60s.

ttfn

Garance,

I never had a problem with the amount of water that I had during my marathon days.
I think that I just drank it to late in the day and that is why I had to go so often.

The weather here is also crazy, today and tomorrow is supposed to be in the 90's, but this morning it was 55.

Today is my GS#2 birthday, he is one today.

Saturday!

Good Morning!

Well today is an "official" rest day for me...although I have been resting all week, when it comes to workouts. I have not really "rested". Slept pretty well last night with DH out of town. One little dog did get me up at 5:00 to go outside, then of course once I am up I could not go back to bed. I will be doing a lot of things around here, baking my Amish Friendship bread ( lemon poppyseed this time).

Josie:
Good luck on your 5k run. That is such a good cause. Dh's sister had a double mastectomy on Nov 4, is doing well. She was just told that she is cancer free! She plans to do the walk in March that is something like 3 - 20 mile days? Her and her 2 kids will be doing it together.

Garance:
HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Have a wonderful day!

I guess I never really was a good sleeper..it's in the genes..my grandmother was an early riser, and she used to go to bed after the 11:00 news each night, was up by 6:00 each day. Then she took a nap, every afternoon...this is how I see myself when and if I finally retire! I love afternoon naps! My brother is the exact same way. I am going over to Ebay to check out that skin stuff. You use the shampoo as a body wash?

Linny:
Where are you? Please check in and let us know how you are doing.

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

Today is both my day off and my birthday, but I did my usual housecleaning. Typical for my birthday, it's very gloomy and grey outside.

We went out to dinner last night and I had my Manhattan and a filet mignon and salad. Dessert was a really extraordinary blackberry sorbet. We will be going over to in-laws for dinner tomorrow as well, to celebrate both my and my brother-in-law's birthdays.

Thanks for the well wishes, Josie and Deb! I remember how painful it was last year, Josie, when you were just hoping your friend would last to see a wedding. Good luck on the run!

I checked my invoice on that lotion, Deb, and it says it is a "firming" lotion. Humbug!--I just like it because it makes my skin feel silky and I absolutely love the fragrance. The bath gel says you can use if for shampooing, too, but I just like it for soaping up. I get one of those shampoos that is supposed to add some oomph to my highlights.

Enjoy your weekend, ladies!

Hi Ladies:
