Pentagenarians & Beyond! W/B 11/30

TGIF!

Good Morning!

Well I am finishing this week again, with poor workouts and poor eating....again...At least I have had 2 nights of good sleep, that is something to be happy about... I am so glad it is Friday. We have decided to have the surgery for Kelsey. The hardest part will be keeping her quiet afterwards, no running, jumping etc. She would not do this stuff if it wasn;t for Keegan always chasing her around..He may be spending a lot of time in his crate when she gets home from the surgery. It is scheduled for 12/17. I am off that week, so that is a good thing.

Joan, How great that you baked cookies with Elliott! Yes, the price of the pet is usually the cheapest part! If I had to add up all the vet bills we have paid for Kelsey in the last 13 years, it would be thousands of dollars I am sure...Her medication that she has to take for the rest of her life is $75 a month. Some people would not be able or want to pay this, but she is my baby and I can do it so I do. I like your attitude /approach to STS. I am looking forward to the type of workout, because it is what I love to do, only am concerned about the amount of time each is...I will have to cut out some other time in the am ( mostly sitting at the computer!). to to the whole workout in the morning.

Garance, glad you got the sweater! Your DS will be happy and so with DH with the camera! I wonder what he thinks is out there in the dead of night? Maybe that groundhog is back? ( Wasn't it a groundhog he was so mad at in the summer?)

Josie, oh yes get DH to take you to dinner! That sounds good to me! He is a banker? I can imagine the stress for him right now with the way things are going. Your neighbors do not sound like nice people!

Linny, please tell me some of the things you have bought on Amazon as gifts! I need ideas for DH, ( the man that has everything he wantsand if he doesn't he buys it immediately)!...I want to put up our tree this weekend, if we don;t, we probably won't do it. It should be interesting with Keegan...I guess the ornaments will have to start really high up!:p

Have a great day!

Maybe TGIF
We always eat out on Friday and my calories for the day are great except when I have a drink or two. I usually get Long Island Tea and one is 600-900 calories.
I decided to do Kick, Punch and Crunch Thursday without the Punch. Too hard on the joints. I don't do any of the jumping either. I also did about 1/2 hour on treadmill.
I don't do much Christmas shopping except for Elliot. I make my kids give me a list. If they don't ask for anything they just get money. My dh and I go out shopping together and if we find what we want we buy it and call it our Christmas present. How do you think I got all my equipment. :D
I haven't done todays workout yet. I plan on PS Chest Shoulders & triceps, I hope Elliot takes a long nap. I went to bed early because I was tired, but then couldn't get to sleep. I wish I had just worked out at regular time.

Hi Ladies,

I did the PUB this morning. My DH did take me to dinner last night. We went to the Cheesecake Factory. I had their skirt steak with mashed potatos and sochatach and one glass of pinot grigio. I did not eat all of the sides, but the steak was so good and tender that I finished the whole thing.

Tomorrow I will be walking and maybe spinning. Sunday I will be spinning and maybe doing some of the machines at the gym for my upper body.

I don't plan on shopping until my DD gets home, it's more fun that way. We make a day of it. We don't take dad with us, because he is always rushing us.

Joan, I usually birng my GS#1 to help me make cookies for X-mas. He loves helping me and I have an elf hat that he wear while helping me. He loves it.

Deb, I'm glad that you got some sleep. My DH has not been snoring lately knock on wood.

Linny, Enjoy your Friday!

Regarding gifts for my DH and myself. I usualy get money so that I can buy whatever I want and for DH, I usualy ask him what he wants. This year though, I want the Kindle,it is a wireless reading device. You can see it on Amazon.com. I love to read and would like to have one of these.

Hi Garance.

Have a great weekend!

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did Lauren's kettlebell workout (45 min.).

Kelsey is lucky to have such a great "mama." My younger son tore his ACL in high school and then had to go through several months of PT to get back his strength, flexibility for sports (soccer goalkeeper, basketball player). Is there doggie PT, or will Kelsey just need some R and R from Keegan?

Joan, I love PS CH,SH,Tris. It's 37 minutes I believe. I did it when I fractured my ankle and couldn't do any cardio or lower body stuff. Why don't you try a less lethal cocktail? A Manhattan has about 200 calories (Josie and I like them), and a glass of wine about 150. I stay away from Margaritas because they are so calorie-laden, even though I love them.

Not sure what my DH expects to find with his new camera. Coyotes, foxes, deer, raccoons, but no groundhogs, Deb, until Ground Hog Day, and no nasty neighbors, Josie, unless they want to get their testicles fried stumbling through DH's electric fences.

Okay, ladies, what are your favorite cookie recipes? I bet you have some good ones, Linny. I'm not doing cutouts anymore, now that my sons are grown. They used to be my "helpers." But I will do a few recipes to have around and give away.

One more to go and then papers to grade, but I will just do a few everyday.

Good morning Deb, garance, Josie and Linny,
I just did 24 of the 36 1rm for chest, shoulders and biceps. That is my work out for the day. Look at STS forum if you are interested in reading about test and workout cards. I printed all of them and eliminated the duplicates. I was able to post how many of each we need to do. There are a total of 102 1rm tests.
garance - Here's an easy cookie recipe- Chocolate Candy Cookies
Combine 1 stick butter/margarine melted, 1/2c cocoa, 2c sugar,1/2c milk in sauce pan. Cook 2 minutes after it begins to boil. Remove from stove . Add 3c Quick Oats, 1/2c peanut butter and 1t vanilla. (you can also add 1/2c nut)
Stir until thick enough to hold shape and drop by tsp on wax paper.
These are very good, which is why I don't make them anymore. I actually drop them by tb but you know about me and cookies. With cocoa, oats and peanut butter aren't they healthy?;)
