Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 11/22

Happy Thanksgiving,

Deb, stuffing is dressing you cook in the turkey.

I actually made 2 trips to grocery store. Frozen turkeys were 34 cents per pound and I wanted 2 of them. You had to buy $50 worth of groceries and it was only one per person-so two trips. The one I will cook tomorrow I bought Sunday. Today I baked a blueberry pie, a coconut cream pie, a lemon meringue pie and 2 pumpkin pies. I was in a pie mood. Did you know there is a nationwide shortage of canned pumpkin. There was none in any stores around here for those trying to buy it today.

Ds stayed up and kept me company until 2:00 when I finished last pie. I better get to bed. I have to get up in 3 1/2 hours to make stuffing and put turkey in the oven.

Thanksgiving!

Good morning and Happy Thanksgiving!

I gave myself permission not to workout today. My legs are killing me from yesterday's STS workout.

The turk goes in the oven in about 30 minutes...that bird will take about 6 hours to cook. We are eating at 3:00, or around there anyway.

Joan, I don't know how you do it, I would be comatose by now.

Garance, we never discussed the winner of DWTS..what did you think? I thought it really should have gone to Maya ( sp?)...she is the better dancer , he had a bigger fan base apparently. I thought the girl with Derrick was voted off too soon. She was better than Kelly.

I still have all those Firm tapes, both in Beta format and VHS. Anything I got after the first 6 were not as good.

Have a wonderful holiday!

Black Friday

Good Morning....

My body feels better today. I swear I was like an 80 year old last night, bent over, could not move my legs etc. It happens every Thanksgiving. Standing on ceramic tile for 15 hours or so will do that to you I guess. The chestnuts sucked. I told my cousin Mike that if they want them next year, he is making them and bringing them. I am lucky that my whole family brings parts of the meal, setting up the house to seat 20 in one room is the hardest part. Then today I have to reverse it all to get it back to normal.

DH went hunting and my friend and I are meeting for breakfast. I should really get a workout in before I go. I cannot believe my butt cheeks are still hurting from that STS leg workout...ouchie...

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Good evening ladies,

We got out Christmas tree today but no one had a 12ft tree. Ds flew home today about 4pm.
My treadmill broke last week and I found out Wed it would cost more to fix than to get a new one. They were on sale today so by next Saturday I will have it. I really need it.
I gave away a lot of the leftovers so I hope I don't gain this week.
I have been lucky with the radiation appts. My brother has been able to take her to most of them.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving and we all get back to exercising.

Saturday

Hi Joan and all that follow,

I have to take my Saab to the storage place this morning, then Keegan's agility class, then we have a play this afternoon, The 39 Steps, a classic that I love, so it should be good. Then we are off to have Thai food...mmm...

What is everyone up to this weekend?

Joan, I can't believe you get a 12 ft tree! Nice to have family around I bet having your brother do some of the dr apts is a nice break for you too, What kind of treadmill did you get?

Yes, I too have to limit myself with the leftovers.

Have a good weekend!

Hi Deb, Joan, and any later posters--

On Thanksgiving I did the 30 min. Physique 57 for legs and abs and 2 miles with Leslie. DH and I also went for a hike because the weather was unusually mild, so I feel like I deserved some of the extra calories. On Friday, yesterday, I did Low Max (70 min.). Today was Housemax.

We had a very peaceful Thanksgiving with only the three of us and rib roast was delicious. DH and DS are definitely not going to leave any leftover pumpkin roulade, so I am saved from that. We had leftovers last night and tonight DH and I will finish the roast and side dishes off, while DS heads back to Boston. DS and I went to the Lee outlet stores yesterday and by the time we arrived, things seemed to have calmed down a good deal. I bought a pair of gloves, which I needed, and DS bought a shirt and a pea jacket at J. Crew. Everything was 50 % off.

Joan, I cannot believe you made all those pies! Do you make your own crust?? That's so nice that your brother is helping to care for your mom with you. Did she enjoy Thanksgiving with her family?

Deb, the 39 Steps was originally a Hitchcock film from the 1930s--or at least that's the only version I know of, and it was really good. Have fun. DH and I watched the Taking of Pelham 123 last night. Really tight thriller.

Enjoy the rest of the holiday weekend everyone! I'm researching HDTVs online. Hope to have one installed by Christmas.
