Good Morning!

Yesterday, after the car chore, my Dad and his wife came in to look at a couple of apartments. This whole situation has me worried...I don;t know which way to go with this whole thing...enough of that for now.

The party yesterday was ok...I found out that each person that was invited got a different year for the letter, eg we had 12, my brother had 3 and so on..so he will have one letter from someone each year to open. I guess it is a fun thing for him to do on each birthday. I ended up writing something not too pathetic I hope!

Going to attempt the 4DS upper body pre-mix today I hope! We have a dog Halloween party that DH wants to go to, but I am not in a party mood, due to Dad etc.

I have to really concentrate on my eating...it was so bad the last 2 days.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Kelly C-M's Cardio Sculpt (70 min.). I really like this one, and I see she has some shorter premixes I can use as well.

I didn't post yesterday, so I had to backtrack to see what I was missing. What is going on with your Dad, Deb? Is he separating from his wife, or is this just a temporary situation? Sounds complicated and worrying. Nothing yet on the photos. I don't know how they intend to use them in the Office of Public Information.

Linny, Othello is also one of my favorites. Students usually find it really moving. I also put on reserve the Lawrence Fishburne version, because it's so sexy and I don't particularly like Olivier in blackface. A lot of the language is missing, but hey--it's a movie.

I am being very good about grading--4 per day, no evasions, diversions, distractions, procrastinations. Just grit my teeth and get them read and commented on.

Thoroughly enjoyed my extra hour of sleep last night.

Hope you come back a winner again, Josie!

Monday Madness!

Good Morning!

I did a 35 minute I-Tread this morning. I woke up at 4:00...my body has not adjusted to the time change yet. I did do the 4DS Upper body pre-mix yesterday..although I did end before the last 2 excercises......I forgot how good those weight workouts were. I hope to do the lower body one another day this week..

Garance:
I take it the C-M Cardio Sculpt is a circuit workout? 70 min is way too long for me..the 67 minutes was too long. I ended it a little early. I wish there was a decent KB workout that was around 30 minutes..The situation with my Dad is complicated in a way. His wife wants to go south for the winter and he won;t go...besides that fact that they can no longer afford their house with the medical bills they have and other things. They want to sell the house, and get an apartment that he can stay in this winter while she is in S. CArolina with her kids for the winter. He is a country person, hates the city, I know he will be miserable. I don;t think he can stay alone in the house in the country..its about 55 miles from here...in the snow belt..I don;t like the thought of him being there alone in the winter, with his health problems ( emphysema). He is also getting forgetful and a little confused at times. Good for you on setting your mind on a goal to get the grading done.. how long does it take to do 4 papers? Are they long ones?

Josie:
Hope you had a good time in Vegas!

Linny:
This is your tough day for working right? Did the extra hour this weekend help? ....

Have a great day ladies!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Kelly C-M's vertical premix on the Cardio Kick Step-Boxing (40 min.). I needed a short one today to get out early and have a filling replaced. My nose and upper lip is totally numb. I have almost mastered this premix. I probably should have looked at her tutorial, but I just like to dive right in and as long as I get some sweat up, I'm okay.

Deb, that does sound complicated with your Dad. It's too bad that he doesn't want to go south for the winter, because the weather would probably be much easier on the emphysema. DH's Dad has some lung issues, too, and he and his wife have a home in Vero Beach they go to from end of October-end of May. They have a condo up here for the other months. Whenever they tried to stay up here for Thanksgiving and Christmas, he would get sick, so despite missing the holidays, it's best for him to leave. Ahh, yes, papers. It takes about an hour to grade a 5-6 page paper and comment on it, so four papers is about all I can do without getting slightly impatient and irritated with bad spelling, punctuation, run-on sentences, misplaced quotes.

I had a very boring weekend. We did have steaks last night that were totally yummy. I'm making a lasagna this week and pork and pineapple kabobs. I noticed a whole bin of pomegranates at the store this week. Any ideas on those, ladies??

Hi Ladies,

I'm back and have had a lot of work today. I was so tired that I could not wake up this morning, so I will probably not do anything today.

We had a good time in Vegas with my DD and her boyfriend. I came back with a few more dollars for my madd money bank. Maybe I will use some of it for the holidays.

I ate to much and feel like a blimp, so I have to get back on track with my eating.

Well, have to get back to work. Have a great evening!

Josie

Hi Ladies:
Tonight its back to work:(.Oh well I need the money, haven't won powerball yet.
Deb: Sorry to hear of your parent woes. You can't find a apartment close to you for him? Today I did Powermax,a oldy but goody.I have to drop this extra poundage, its getting harder and harder for me to exercise.
Garance: I'm definitely going to check out that cardio-sculpt.The only thing I ever had with pomegranates was in a margarita, yum!
Josie:So glad you made some more mad-money.I did some Christmas shopping today, didn't find much.I'm thinking on getting Wii's for the adults, that way it keeps the kids entertained.
Well its naptime.Have a good night~Linny~

It's Tuesday..the day to Vote!

Good Morning all,

John and I went to vote at 6:00 when the polls opened..we figured we would do it early as we heard there were some places that you had to wait a couple of hours in line!...WOW I couldn't believe how many people were there at 6 am...we always vote in the morning and this was the most people we have ever seen there!

Garance:
Sorry about your dental woes ...Yes, I wish my Dad would go south for the winter, then I would not worry so much about his health. It would be easier for them to sell the house too. ( my cousin is the realtor and he has power of attorney to sell it while my Dad's wife is down south). We need to figure out what the best option is....get him an apartment near us, or if they should stay until it sells, etc...in this market it could be months...I can imagine how frustrating it must be for you to grade those papers, and why you do them in small doses!

Josie:
It sounds like you had a fun but tiring trip!. Maybe we should get together and try to lose whatever amount of weight we need to...like I would like to lose 10 lbs...if we do some type of check in here?

Linny:
Good for you for getting a jump start on Christmas shopping! See note above regarding a weight check in..what do you think? .I have been so bad with eating lately. eg. I ate about 6 donut holes at work in a meeting, then 6 snickers ( the mini bars) last night after dinner, without blinking an eye, then ate pretzels, and almonds. I can;t believe what I can eat and then feel horrible afterwards. I just do it again the next day...

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Ladies,

I will be voting this evening after work. My DH wanted me to wait for him.
I will probably not get to workout today either.

Deb, A weight check in will be great to get us back on track with our eating.

Garance, I hope that you got your papers graded.

Linny, Did you get enough rest last night?

Well, have to get to work now. Have a great day!

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Kelly C-M's 30 min. Back, Chest, and Legs workout and another mile with Leslie, including the warmup and cooldown--another 30 min.

Already voted this morning. No waiting in my small town. I don't envy all those Floridians they keep showing, waiting for hours in line. I guess I would bring a book and a chair if I had to do that.

I'm game for a food check-in, but I have a feeling I just cannot get below my 137 lbs. unless I really deprive myself. So, this morning I had one slice bacon, one fried egg, a half bagel with butter, and a glass of orange juice, black coffee. For lunch, I had a blueberry yoghurt (Choban Greek) and a pear and a big Cappucino with a couple extra shots of espresso. I'm having lasagna and a salad for dinner and a couple glasses of wine. I don't snack, so I'm pretty sure that's all.

I finished grading my papers yesterday. Happy about that. One more class on Othello this afternoon. We start Antony and Cleopatra on Friday.

Is it true, Josie, that they have those big buffets in Vegas? Now that would get me into trouble, because I like to sample everything.

Hi Garance,

It is true about the buffets. I never go because there is just so much food that it is crazy.
It also makes me sick to see how people just pile their plates over and over again.

They do serve great food and you should see the desserts that they have!

It's Wednesday!

Good Morning,

I am still sick and very tired.
154.gif

Spent another night on the couch between not being able to breathe and DH's snoring, it was better for me to move downstairs. Of course, the clock chiming every half hour does not help either...I think I will go in this morning and take a half day off so I can come home and sleep.

Josie:
How were the voting lines at your polling place? did you have to wait long?..yes those buffets in casinos are killers!

Garance:
Your eating habits seem to work for you and you are not deprived of the things you like!..I can eat good food at meals, but it's the sugar thing that gets to me. I am an addict, firmly believe that sugar can be as bad as some other addictive substances for some people.

Linny: Waving to you!......what do you think about a food journal right here on our thread?

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did the horizontal premix on Kelly C-M's Cardio Kick Stepboxing (together with the core, this one adds up to 50 min.). Fyi, Linny, she uses the same warmup on this one, where the step is vertical. Then you have to stop and turn your step. Fyi, Deb, the last 15 minutes of this one is a really good kickbox routine with no step. I really like this premix which is 38 min. long until you add the core work, which is different than the usual crunches.

Well, I got my flu shot yesterday. Decided not to take a chance on getting sick and then postponing the shot.

Same breakfast as yesterday. Our bacon is pure heaven compared to the store-bought brands. I figure one slice per day is not going to kill me. Lunch: a vanilla yoghurt (Greek Choban), a Bosch pear, and my big Cappucino with extra shots of espresso. I'll be having more lasagna tonight with a salad.

When I was young, I had a terrible sweet tooth, but for some reason, as I have aged, it has slowly disappeared, so that I can be very disciplined in having an occasional dessert, and never buy candy. Just cookies for my seminar--which will start again next week with oral presentations, so more leftover cookies sitting in my office and tempting me.

Student conferences this afternoon.

Hi Ladies,

I did PP this morning and will be spinning tonight for 45 minutes. I felt very out of shape this morning. It was my Vegas trips that did it.

Menu for today:

Oatmeal, 1/2 banana, raisins & on splenda
16oz coffee ff milk = 2 splendas

I going to lunch now, so I don't know what I will be having, but I will try for it to be clean.

Josie

Hi Ladies:
Sorry didn't get the chance to check in last night.By the time dinner, dishes and voting was done it was naptime.
Deb:Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, get well soon. I have a sore throat since friday that I just can't shake. Not sure if I'll have the patience to write food down everyday, since I already do in a log book. But a weekly weigh-in may be more up my alley.I also have a sweet tooth.Candy, pastries, cakes you name it I'll eat it.
Garance:Sounds like you made good food choices today.I do like Kelly Coffey, just hard to keep up with her.
Josie:Buffets are another weakness for me.I feel like I need to eat more than my money's worth. My DH hates to take me there, says he has never seen me eat so much as at buffets.
Last night I was the only nurse till 5:30 am.Thank God it was a good night and no big medical issues. Suppose to have two nurses tonight.Have a good night~Linny~

Thursday=The Day Before Friday!

Good Morning!

I am still hacking, and having a horrible headache with this cold...hopefully I will be able to kick this soon. No workout, I can hardly breathe! I ended up staying home after taking a client to lunch yesterday..that was a trip...me sniffling and constantly wiping my nose...yuk...I felt bad for the guy having to sit there and watch me...I would stay home today but have too many things going on that I have to be at...

Garance:
I may go view that dvd over at Collage...however I know how I am with step workouts...if I don;t "get" them right away, I give up on them. This one sounds interesting though. I bet that bacon is really good. Where do you get the Greek yogurt that is flavored? We have that Fage brand, but it is plain and I ended up tossing it...very expensive too..I wasn't too bad yesterday, probably because I am sick...I only had about 6 shortbread cookies, no chocolate...and the bag of mini Snicker bars in the cupboard did not call to me at all for a change...

Josie:
Good breakfast menu..High ^^^'s to you for working out 2 times in one day!

Linny:
Sorry about your throat...I had that too , then it went down to my chest and is still in my head...I was afraid of Strepp because one of the managers that works for me had it and kept coming in until I told him to go home one day! Sheesh...I understand dedication but enough already! At least being a nurse, you can tell how bad you are..and hopefully can catch something early..We can do a weekly weigh-in too, if that is more to your liking...I know it is time consuming to record meals here...I did that for a long time. It was easy then because I was so strict on what I ate, and planned ahead.

Well DH and I are contemplating buying a small ranch to rent to my Dad and his wife so he can be closer to us...this whole thing has been on my mind constantly..I think that is why I am sick...my resistance must have been down due to lack of sleep and worrying...maybe this solution will be good...I worry about getting into a morgage situation when I was hoping to retire in 5 years...decisions, decisions...

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Kelly C-M's 30 minute weight workout for bis, tris, and shoulders together with another mile with Leslie, including warmup and cooldown stretch--so it's about 60 min. Leslie is all by herself on this one and really muted compared to her longer group routines. I am very much liking this matchup of Kelly with Leslie a couple times each week.

So sorry to hear about your cold, Deb. Have you tried Coldeeze lozenges? I think they really do either prevent the onset of a cold or shorten its duration. I had a cold that was pretty tolerable. Just one bad night and virtually no sinus issues.

I guess if you're buying a house, now is a pretty good time, but I know what you mean about another mortgage at this stage in life. I wonder how I will feel after my sabbatical--will I even want to come back to fulltime teaching?

Same breakfast and lunch as yesterday. I just get the Choban yoghurt at my local Stop and Shop. They only have 3 flavors--vanilla, blueberry, and strawberry--but it's very satisfying. Tonight I am grilling pork and pineapple kabobs in a hot/sweet sauce with rice and a salad. They are marinading even as I write. My usual 2 glasses of white chardonnay.

Well, we were right about the next to go, Deb. Susan Lucci, who has no rhythm. Seemed righteous to me.

On sweet tooths: Is it just hard to stop once you start? And then, once you've had 4-5, you say, WTH, why not just keep going? Or, is it an addiction that you simply cannot either resist or limit?

I'm with you on buffets, Linny, because I feel like I need to sample everything.

Finally Friday!

Good Morning all,

I am still sick and really tired..I can't wait for this day to be over. I just want to curl up on the couch with a throw an a good book.

Garance:
Yes, it was time for Susan to go...here is the order I think they should now go in: Maurice, Warren, Cody...and Lance and Brook will be the last 2 standing...Brook will probably win. She is definitely the best dancer, at least consistently. I loved Lance's jive, and the mambo was good, even barefoot LOL...

We are still discussing the house situation with my dad...DH is worried about the maintenance, since he is not really into that kind of stuff and we hire people for most of it. He does the outside stuff here, lawns, raking, snow blowing...and feels if he has to do it at another place he will not be happy.. I think we should hire that out too, but who knows...On he sweet tooth, it is the type that it is hard to stop once I start..If I have one thing, I am off and eating sweets all day...I know...the answer is "don't have one thing!"...LOL:rolleyes:. I need to go back to making sure I eat a protein with every carb...this really keeps the blood sugar stable, I think that plays a big part in the cravings.

Hi to Josie and Linny: any plans for the weekend?

Have a good one...

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Lauren's kettlebell workout (45 min.). I will continue to do this workout until I am down to 1 dollar per workout--which means I have 28 more times. It's a good workout, but gawd--she is so boring, and the music is lugubrious.

This weekend, DS and fiancee are coming to look at reception venues again. We will go out to dinner on Saturday night. I really hope they decide on a place soon--and a firm date.

I agree with you Deb--Brooke is definitely the best dancer. I don't really know who should go next. I think they have all done some good, some mediocre performances, and I don't have any particular attraction to any of them.

Same breakfast. A Granny Smith apple and vanilla yoghurt for lunch. leftover pork and pineapple kabobs, Basmati rice, and baked squash for dinner--and my chardonnay. For lunch on weekends, I treat myself to Red Baron individual pizzas and slim-a-bear ice cream bars.

I hope everybody has a good weekend of recovery from nasty colds for Deb and Linny, and gloating over Vegas winnings for Josie.

Hi Ladies,

Today I did SS. I went out with the girls last night and had a bit too much to drink.
SS was hard to do, but I knew that my workout partner was going to show up at 5:15 this morning.

This weekend I will be walking on Saturday and Sunday and will not be back to work until Wednesday. Our boss decided to close the office on Monday so that we could have a 4 day weeked.

I have not been eating well, other than my healthy breakfast and maybe a healthy lunch, but for dinner I have been bad.

Tonight my DH and I are attending a gala affair where the entertainment is going to be Stephany Mills. She is a great singer and I'm looking forward to the show. I will be wearing an evening gown that my DH picked for me a couple of years ago and it still fits.
Thank God! It was expensive and I'm trying to get my moneys worth.

Well, Ladies have a great weekend and stay away from the sweets.

Josie

Hi Ladies:
I didn;t go to work last night.I pulled some muscles in my calves and butt the night before. We were transferring a patient onto a stretcher to be transported to hospital and I don't think the EMT's knew what they were doing. So I ended up with myself stretched over bed and almost on top of the patient. I used a tens unit last night and it really helped(Thank God).
Deb:Hope your day went by quickly and you can get the rest you need. Do you think you can get your Dad into a condo,so DH won't have to worry about outside work? My DS and girlfriend are going that route because they don't want to have to deal with the upkeep of lawn.Hmmm, weekend plans...possible going to see DGD's,maybe some Christmas shopping, movies and dinner tomorrow.
Garance:Hope you have fun with DS and his financee this weekend.Good luck searching for a reception hall.I had to give a years notice when I placed a deposit on reception. My throat is actually better today,I dont have anymore soreness when swallowing. Food tastes better too(maybe thats not a good thing:rolleyes:)
Josie:Have fun tonight at that gala affair, sounds like agood time. Its so nice when clothes from years ago still fit.I can't say the same about my clothes though:(.Have a nice 4 day weekend you lucky girl.~Linny~
