Good morning,

Today I did a KCM weight/cardio workout, trying to keep with circuits and cardio, since I only work out 4 times a week.

Garance, I did Plateau Busters #1 with Bonuse moves...and did it with Cathe weighted gloves, 1 pound in each...the bonus moves are mostly cardio, but some with weights. she did a couple that I was not too fond of trying so I just did the ice skater move instead. With the weighted gloves, it was more of a challengs.

It's beautiful here today and I should be outside putting away the garden stuff, but I just don't want to do that. I didn't get a lot of my "list" done yesterday so that is still looming.

Hi Deb--

Great minds think alike. I did the double Plateau Busters (45 min.). I tried doing the bonus moves awhile ago, but didn't like them all that much.

It's beautiful here as well. I will spend an hour out in the gardens, and then loaf the rest of the afternoon. I have a sweater that's almost done that will entertain me.

I did get my Edith Sitwell, but a lot of her poetry is just strange. I am eager to find out what Plath had to say about it, so will probably head over to Smith on Wednesday.

Good morning,

I just finished a Treadmill Challenger workout, which is an old DVD I have. I planned to do a CC, but found my iPod dead when I went to turn it on. I must have left it on by accident the other day. The DVD was ok. No way I was running or jogging as fast as the 4 people in the workout.

Garance, the bonus moves were "meh", but using the weighted gloves was great. It let me increase both weights, by one pound, which was perfect. What weights are you using for that one? I was using 5's and 8's, which was getting to be too easy, but 7 and 10 was too big of a jump, so the gloves help. Also having them on for the cardio sections kept my heart rate up for sure.

I stayed in yesterday and did the house stuff that was on the list. Didn't get to do the clothes/shoe switch, ( put away summer, get winter out), that I had planned to, but that can be done any time. I am "picking" clothes out of Rubbermaid containers to wear.

Hi to Josie, Joan, and the vacationing Valerie,

Take care,

Hi Deb--

This morning I did KCM's Cardio Quick Fix, both workouts (45 min.).

Deb, I use 5's and 10's on Plateau Busters. I've been thinking of putting on my weighted gloves because the 5s are too light (but I don't have 7s, just 8s, and I think that might be too heavy). I have been gradually getting out my winter stuff, putting away my summer stuff, plus winnowing things I just haven't worn in such a long time I doubt I will ever wear again. DH hired someone to do the gardens for me, so I don't have to do them! It was wonderful just telling him what to do today. Yesterday I finished my knitting project. A very pretty red wool vest.

I guess I will wait until Friday to go over to Smith, because that way I can spend some time with my favorite archive curator. We had so much fun at the Plath conference that I really want to see her again.

Another beautiful day here today--in the 60s. It's supposed to plummet though tomorrow--only getting into the 40s.

Looks like Cathe will be getting our new dvds to us in a couple weeks--just in time for the looming holiday bloat.

Good morning,

No workout today, late class night.

Garance, it will be great getting the new workouts. I hope there is some sort of rotation provided, which I think she said will be in the book that comes with it. Although with only doing 4 workouts a week, it may not work for me. We'll see. I wish we could find someone to do our garden. Yes, I have 7 pound weights, 8.'s and 10's. Going from 5 to 7 would not work, so the gloves come in handy.

Joan, are you still using My Fitness Pal? I am over there now and like it a lot. I looked for you as JoanC but didn't find you. I am fox2star over there too. There is a whole group of Cathletes over there, but only 2 of them are posting regularly.

Off for more coffee and to get ready...

Take care,

Hi Deb--

This morning I did the double upper body premix on Push-Pull (46 min.).

Suddenly much, much colder here.

Gosh, I am having so much trouble making the buttonholes on my Chanel jacket. This is turning into a really challenging project for me. It takes me an hour to do one, and I've had to rip out another and start all over. Sigh!

DH is always hiring local guys to help him with farm chores, so he knows a lot of people looking for work. It was great to come home and see all of my gardens looking tidy. The dead nasturtiums were particularly ugly because of all the vines.

Deb, I didn't know Cathe was giving us another book. Hope it helps with rotation planning. I really liked her STS book because it was a reminder of equipment for me.

Good morning!

Garance, I just finished KCM Plateau Busters. It was only 25 minutes, ( I thought these were supposed to be 30 minutes long, not sure why this one is cut short, but whatever, it's done). I guess that is why you do that combo pre-mix. Why are the buttonholes so difficult on this jacket? I am not sure if the new series comes with a book like STS, but someone ( SNM?) mentioned something that we would get with the series that listed different rotations, I believe.

Joan, I sent you a PM if you are reading this...

Work, then agility class tonight,

for now...

Hi Deb--

This morning I did the 47 min. premix on Cardio Supersets.

Deb, that's exactly why I do both workouts. She should have added one more round with the heavy dumbbells if she wanted to do 30 min. workouts. The buttonholes are difficult, because they are done by hand with silk twist thread. I have always relied on my Bernina buttonholer to do buttonholes, and I am sorely tempted to give up on the handmade ones.

A real chill in the air today, but at least it's sunny. My birthday is tomorrow, and usually it's gloomy, wet, and cold. We won't celebrate until the weekend, though, so the November weather has time to get ugly.

Not sure what I am up to this afternoon. Ahhh--the pleasures of being retired and not being committed to anything.

Hi Ladies,

Sorry for not posting sooner. I have been busy and a bit sad and stressed out. I have a brother that has been in jail and has taken advantage of my parents. He was living with them after he got out of jail and tried to steel more money from them and use them to extort money from other people, so my mom kicked him out and he ended up going to Vegas and living with some lady that he also ended up steeling money from, so he ended up homeless. My DM took him back in last Tuesday and it was such a surprise to me and my other brothers, but she keeps defending him and has just broken the bond between she and I that took so long to build. I have been sad and depressed and worried about her and dad.

My poor dad allowed my brother to move back to keep mom happy, but I know that he is miserable. I don’t feel like celebrating Thanksgiving, but I don’t want to spoil it for the rest of the family. I don’t know what to do!!

Also, at work things are just getting worst. I made an appointment with the retirement and benefit specialist. I may be out of here sooner than I thought.

Josie

Good morning,

No workout today, late class last night. 2 more days and I am on vacation!!

Garance, Happy Birthday!! Any plans to celebrate? I think I would give up the hand made button holes too, if they were taking that long. Also, what happens when you have cut the fabric, and then they are not right? doesn't that mess up the jacket that is already done? You can tell I have not sewn in years. Don't rub it in regarding retirement!! Josie and I are still having to slug out the days in the office. ugh.

Josie, so sorry about the situation with your brother. I know your Mom must be torn and he sounds like he is able to get her to feel sorry for him. I have been looking into retirement too, it's the health benefits that are what keeps me working.

Work, then a haircut, and pedi tonight. Have to get rid of the skunk stripe!

Take care,

Happy Birthday Garance! My peanut #2 had a birthday yesterday. He turned 5.
Have a wonderful Day.

Hi Deb and Josie--

This morning I did Athletic Training (56 min.).

Josie, that sounds very difficult with your family. I hope your brother does not once again violate your mother's trust in him. Are you planning on celebrating Thanksgiving with your parents, or are you too estranged to spend the day with them if it also involves your brother? Holidays are difficult enough without the raw nerve of family dysfunction. My fil and mil will be spending Thanksgiving with us this year. Fil is having some health issues and so they have postponed their annual trip down to Florida where they have a condo in a golf community.

Deb, it's too hard to give a short explanation on the buttonholes, but no, it would not be a problem to pull out my handstitching and simply use a bit of iron-on interfacing to patch the cut together and then use my sewing machine, which is probably what I will do if I make one more sloppy effort. We are going out to dinner both on Saturday and Sunday, with friends on Saturday, and then because the chef is beginning his "comfort Sunday" meals and the menu looks Asian, we will do that too.

Off to Smith tomorrow, so I won't be checking in.

Garance,

I will still have the celebration at my house and my parents are welcome. My brother is not welcome at my house or that of my other brothers. I know that things will get better with my mom. My dad is great and just goes along with the punches :) I guess being a truck driver his whole lief has taught him patience.

Enjoy your birthday and the wonderful meals up ahead.

Josie

anyone doing anything exciting this weekend? Our roofers start today, and will also work tomorrow to hopefully get it done.

Off to shower, and get going, take care,

Happy Friday Ladies,

I went spinning at lunch and took a sculpting class in the evening. Today is my day off.
Tomorrow I will be taking a yoga blend class and Sunday I will be taking a yoga class plus a sculpting class.

Deb, my DH and I will be going to an opening of a new restaurant in Beverly Hills. One of his clients wife is and interior decorator and worked on the project. The name of the restaurant is H.O.M.E. They are having Pete Escobedo as the entertainment. He is well known in for his salsa music, he is Sheila-E’s father. I hope that we can dance.

Hi to Garance and Joan!

Josie

Good morning,

Class, then just stuff around here. They started our roof yesterday, all kinds of tools and junk in the yard that Kylee is facinated with.

Josie, have fun and dance your heart out! :)

Have a great day..
