Just getting us started for the week. I have not done my workout yet but plan to do the KB Providence workout in a little while. I need more coffee!

It's pretty lonely around here this weekend...I hope everyone is having a good one!...

I'll BB later to check in..

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did SH legs and shoulders (60 min.).

Very autumnal this weekend. The mountains are really getting their full blaze of color this week, and the leaf peepers will probably be clogging traffic next weekend.

So my menu for last night was a ham with a Marsala wine and honey glaze (our own ham of course, and the honey from a beekeeper who has a couple hives on our land), mac and cheese, baba ghanouj with pita bread and some tomatoes from our garden for an appetizer (eggplants from our garden as well), and a big salad. Ice cream with Kahlua parfaits layered with crumbled shortbread cookies. Very simple to make, but really good.

DS and fiancee have decided to have their wedding this next summer, which is great, since I will be on sabbatical and unworried about starting fall semester, and also because the grandparents are getting up there in years and would really like to see the first of their grandchildren get married.

I will FINALLY finish grading my second batch of papers this afternoon. I am so BAD!

Enjoy the rest of the weekend ladies, and send on that apple crumb pie recipe Linny.

Monday Madness!

HOp To It Ladies!

I need something to make me move like this little guy! I am sitting here with coffee exhausted. NO workout again, DH and his damn snoring....I spent another night on the couch and my eyes are burning, I'm so tired..Went to the 2 parties yesterday, it felt like it wasn;t even a weekend...

Garance:
Thank menu sounds wonderful! I can tell you like to cook! Did the family enjoy it?

Linny:
How are you doing? yes send that recipe in!

Josie:
I hope you are well and enjoying the GS!

Have a great day !

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Gin Miller's Simply Step (62 min.).

I stubbed my little toe on Friday night, and it has been excruciating doing my exercise. I sure hope the pain subsides pretty soon.

Yes, Deb, the meal was approved by all. I sent some of the ham back with them yesterday. My future DIL likes ham a lot. Also my baba ghanouj. Tonight I am making Basque chicken, which also uses eggplant. It's an old recipe, but very tasty. I find cooking very relaxing. I could peruse cookbooks for hours.

Gosh, Deb, maybe you should have a guest room to retreat to when the DH starts sawing wood. Sounds like Regis Philbin. The longstanding joke is about how Joy goes crazy from his snoring, and they actually recorded him a few years back, and he sounded like an angry grizzly bear. They re-play the recording every now and then--much to Regis' chagrin.

Hope everyone else is okay--where are you, Linny and Josie??

I have a boring lecture to attend this afternoon. But I did finish grading my papers yesterday afternoon (everyone applaud!).

Hi Ladies:
Here's that Apple Crump Pie recipe that everyone loves:
5 to 7 tart apples
9 in unbaked pastry shell
1/2 cup sugar
3/4 teaspoon cinnamon
1/3 cup sugar
3/4 cup flour
6 tablespoons of butter

Peel apples;core and cut in eighths.Arrange in unbaked pastry shell. Mix 1/2 cup sugar and cinnamon;sprinkle over apples.
Mix 1/3 cup sugar with the flour;cut in butter till crumbly.Sprinkle over apples.Bake at 400 for 35 to 40 minutes. Yummy served warm with vanilla icecream.
I'll be apple picking probably this coming weekend.
Garance: Sorry to hear about your toe, hope it heals quickly.I did Dance to be fit today.I love that dvd. What the heck is baba ghanouj?
Deb:Where do you get all those cute little guys?Wow I thought my DH snored, did you ever try ear plugs?
Hi Josie hope all is well.
Have to go finish making dinner.~Linny~

It's Tuesday!

Good morning all,

I did the Pyramid Upper Body up only pre-mix today, no abs. It's around 30 minutes, just what I like. Get in, get out, get done!

Garance:
Oh no...I hope your toe is ok...I think that you either have the cooking gene or you don;t, and I definitely don;t! A good thing DH likes to cook! yes! I heard the recording of Regis too..that is what DH sounds like..but it's not every night. I think it has something to do with how much he eats after dinner...he sometimes denies that he snores at all...last night I told him I was going to record him!

Linny:
Thanks for the recipe! Good for you for working out, sometimes it takes loving a certain DVD to get motivated. I am like that too. here is a link to free emoticons:

Just copy and paste the one you like into the post...it's fun!

Waves Hi to Josie!

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did SH chest and back (60 min.).

My toe is still tender, but getting better. I think I will wear my shoe without a sock tomorrow morning.

Can't wait to try that pie recipe, Linny! Baba ghanouj is an eggplant spread. You cut them in half and bake at 375 degrees for about 45 min. until they are nice and soft. Let cool, then get all the pulp out into a strainer and let it sit for awhile to drain out as much of the juice as possible. Put it in a cuisinart with fresh lemon juice (about one lemon), 1/4 cup of tahini (sesame paste), and garlic (I buy the roasted garlic at the grocery store because I think the raw garlic is too sharp). Turn on the cuisinart and let her rip! Very good on pita with fresh tomatoes, olives.

I love the Dance Fit DVD too.

Sounds like DH is in a state of denial about snoring, Deb. You really should record him.

DWTS last night? Sorry to lose Misty, but I really, really hope they get rid of Cloris. Last night her wig went flying off, and the whole thing was just plain ugly.

It's Hump Day Ladies!

READY, SET, GO!

Love those jumping guys!

No workout today, I have to be at the Peace Bridge office ( this is right on the border)..around 6:30, so I gave up todays workout ( again!)

Garance:
Glad to hear your toe is getting better...I have not watched Dancing yet but heard about the injury...I will miss Max! He is my favorite professional.

Linny: what is happening with you? are you doing ok?

Josie: hope you are doing well and getting those sand dune runs in while the weather is still good...when does it get bad where you are?

Have a great day ladies!

Deb

Hi Ladies,

This is my third week doing the PLB/PUB it is getting easier and I can already feel my clothes getting looser. My diet has not been very clean though. The weekends are hard to maintain my good eating habits.

Linny, I hope that everything is ok with you!

Garance, did you finish grading your papers?

Deb, we hardly ever get bad weather in LA. That is why I love living here.

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Leslie's 4 Fast Miles (music only workout, 50 min.).

This afternoon I'm teaching Apocalypse Now, which seems like an appropriate title for what is going on in the stockmarket. I was infuriated yesterday when it turned out that the AIG execs went to a spa and spent 500,000 dollars immediately after the 85 billion dollar bailout.
They should be fired and then there should be a Wall of Shame set up on a government website to post their names and pictures. Or--they should be forced to partner with Cloris Leachman on DWTS on a rotating basis and never get voted off.

Now that I have said that, ladies, I feel a tad better, but not much.

This weekend I will try your recipe Linny. DH dearly loves apple pies.

Hi Ladies;
Sorry I haven't been on.I have been getting caught up with online Christmas shopping and then look at clock and its time for nap before work.
Deb:Wow,you had to be a office at 6:30am?You must had to get up in the middle of the night.Hope you get a good sleep tonight. My husband wants to do a juice cleanse,I don't know if I could handle not eating food for 3 days:eek:
Garance: that Baba recipe sounds yummy.I love eegplant but DH is not a fan. Those AIG execs sound like a bunch of selfish b**tards. How's your toe?
Josie:I wish clothes were looser. My are actually feeling tighter:(. Weekends are tough for me too.We usually go out for dinner and all h*ll breaks loose.
Well going down for my nap.Have a good night~Linny~

Post Hump Day Madness!

Good Morning!

Today I had to really push myself to get up and work out..but I did it! :D..I did the up only pre-mix from Pyramid Lower Body, no floor work though...hate it!

Josie:
Good for you for sticking with the Pyramids..they are tough..I like the excercises she does in these, but only wish she put a little more time between sets. I use my remote and am always pausing to change weights and drink water. She is on warp speed in this one! Yes the eating is very hard for me too. I am trying not to eat sweets. I went on a 2 week binge and now have to get all the sugar out of my system again :(

Garance:
BWaAAA.....LOL on the penalty for those AIG execs having to dance with Cloris forever! javascript:emoticon('')...and one of them may become one of Obama's advisors I think...
javascript:emoticon('')
LInny:
Going to the office at 6:30 is not too hard...I just get up at my regular workout time but I don;t do the workout.....The juice cleanse doesn't sound too bad...I thought you were going to do one of those radical ones..that ummm... use other means to clean you out...

Well off to shower and feed the K's! Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did SH tris, bis and abs. (60 min.). I have to put this series aside. 2 weeks of self-inflicted boredom is enough for me.

Anyone watching Project Runway? I really like this show because the challenges are to make beautiful and interesting clothing, and I just find it amazing that they can do this in so little time. Next week is the finale, and I am rooting for Leanne. She makes such pretty and detailed dresses.

Like all of you, I have been having some problems with food. I always have leftover cookies from my seminar and they sit in my office beckoning me to have "just one." So yesterday I brought in some really thin ginger snaps, and I don't feel so guilty having a couple of these with my double espresso in the afternoon. If I were Jewish, I would be fasting today. It's Yom Kippur, or as my Jewish friend told me, "It's a regular guilt-fest."

Christmas shopping?? You are scaring me, Linny. I haven't even thought about it yet.

Hi Ladies:
Deb: Glad you got to work out today. None for me today, still having a hard time getting that in on a daily basis.I was going to do a body cleanse this past weekend but it was suppose to be taken 1/2 hour before breakfast and already started to eat.My DH has been having some medical issues.2 weeks ago he had a uti and took antibiotic. He still had pain in lower flank so went back to md and found he still had uti.More antibiotics. He has been in alot of pain all over back, sides and stomach.Md did x-ray,saw no kidney stones. So tuesday he goes for a ultrasound. He did have hx of prostatitis.I just wished he'd go to hospital and get it done now.Thats why the he wanted to do juice cleanse thought he had stones.
Garance: I worry with weekend coming thats my downfall.Usually go out for dinner and a few drinks. Then I don't make good food choices. How come everything that tastes good is so bad for you?:(. At work we have been doing a weekly bring in a dish day. Most of the food is not healthy and hard to resist. Yep,I start my Christmas shopping usually in Sept(I'm late this year).I like to shop at Amazon.com they have great deals.Next town over they are building a Christmas Tree Store(God help me!).
Josie:please looser clothes vibes this way;)
Have a great night~Linny~

Yeah..It's Friday!

19.gif

Good Morning!

I am so glad it is Friday. Although my weekend will be cut short because I have to leave Sunday afternoon for Washington...The only good part about this trip is I get to stay at the Ritz Carlton and it is the most wonderful hotel in the world!

Garance:
Not watching that show..I have enough trouble keeping up with Dancing! I finally finished watching this weeks shows last night. If it wasn't for the Rockettes, I would have been pissed off watching Tuesdays results show that didn't kick off anyone! I still can't believe Cloris is still on, but there are people who like that kind of thing and they will keep voting for her. She wouldn't have been voted off anyway..it would have been Rocco. I hear you on cookies calling to you. I did ok yesterday with the sweets, but ate corn bread with the "Lil' Oinker" I got at the BBQ place ( don't ask!)..

Linny:
I am a food-a-holic too..once I start with the bad stuff, I can't stop. We need an intervention! I applaud you for starting Christmas shopping early! What kinds of things do you get on Amazon? We cut our list down a few years ago, basically buy for kids only and DH and DH's mom & my dad/wife. The Christmas Tree store sounds like fun..Sending (((healing)) vibes to your DH..

Waves Hi to Josie........

Have a great day!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Petra Kolber's Step Moves New Grooves (53 min.).

Mountain Day today!! I am going to write some recommendations and then head home to start the big garden clean-up. It is gorgeous today, and the foliage is beautiful.

This is also my 28th wedding anniversary, but we won't be going out until Sunday. I know what you gals mean about food choices. This particular restaurant has a butterscotch sundae that is irresistible! It's a very old French restaurant (the Mill on the Floss) with wonderful French food, and expensive, but my FIL is taking us out, so it won't hurt.

Tomorrow night I am going to Trocadero Dance Company with my women friends--a male ballet troupe in tutus. My friend assures me they are good.

So sorry to hear about your DH's medical problems! I have heard that kidney stones are more painful than almost anything, including childbirth (according to Regis Philbin).

Enjoy the Ritz Carlton, Deb, and enjoy a big sleep away from DH's snoring.

Hi Ladies:
So happy its friday:D! Its suppose to be a warm weekend,so we'll probably go apple picking.Too bad the haunted house wasn't this weekend since its so mild.
Well I decided to start a food log.I lost a lot of weight the last time I did one.I am so tired of being heavy.Today I did most of StepFit and I was a huffing and a puffing. I figure ifI can lose 1 pound a week by summer next year I should be down 30 pds.
Deb:I get just about everything on Amazon.com.Books,dvds,clothes,electronics,you name it.How many nights are you going to be at the Ritz?I heard it was a beautiful hotel. Thanks for DH healing vibes.
Garance:Happy Anniversary!! Thats so sweet that FIL taking you out for dinner.Have a great time.
I'm not sure about kidney stones being as painful as having a baby. But I'm sure to a man any pain they have is worse than having a baby;)
Have fun at the ballet sounds like a good time for the ladies.
Josie:Hope you have a great weekend.
I'll be checking in later this weekend~Linny~

So Happy It's Saturday!

Good Morning,

Well I did horrible yesterday on my daily goal to not eat sweets...

I didn't make it......
icon_cry.gif
...those damn tootie rolls jumped out their wrappers into my mouth before I could stop them..
then John brought home the birthday cake his office people got him and not only did I have one piece BUT I HAD 2 PIECES!! Arrr
gaah.gif

Garance:Wow ...anniversary week! We will be going out to dinner tonight to celebrate our anniversary, (24th)..it's actually Monday but I will be away so we will go tonight. I am going to have whatever I want..so there! Garance: you do the same! Male ballet dancers in tutus...mmm..why? I like to watch male ballet dancers, but not sure about the tutus!...yes I think I may get a good night's sleep at the Ritz!

Linny:
I agree that doing the food journal works! It did for me too...notice how I eat now, with no journal...Your goal of 1 pound a week is a realistic one. the haunted house sounds like fun...yes it's supposed to be beautiful here this weekend too. John bought a new leaf blower yesterday that he is dieing to try out...it also vaccums! I will be at the Ritz for 3 nights...it will be heavenly! I know I will miss being home, but if you have to be away, this is the place to be! It has an English "flair"..the service is wonderful..it's attached to a great mall that has a Clark's store...!!!! I can try on all the shoes I look at in Zappos! John had kidney stones too and it was pretty painful...I can't compare it to having a baby..or not....never having had one!

Well I bought a new workout DVD...Kelly Coffey-Meyer, 30 minutes to Fitness. It has upper and lower body spits, other pre-mixes, you can choose, you are supposed to be able to use heavier weights..it was only $19.00 on Ebay, including shipping so not so bad and I heard good things about it...over at Collage it was rated pretty high..I am so tired of waiting for STS, I needed something new, not KB oriented.

Josie:
Hope you are having a good weekend!

Deb

Hi Deb, Linny, and Josie--

This morning I did Christi Taylor's Dance Fit (70 min.).

Not sure if Deb is already off to Washington and the Ritz-Carlton, but have a safe trip and a good sleep. I am off to my anniversary dinner tonight. I will let you know what calorie-rich horrors I choose to indulge myself.

DH sent flowers to my office on Friday. Sooo lovely--two enormous apricot colored lilies in the center and then a lot of autumnal-themed flowers. Hard to believe it's been 28 years. We walked through Central Park on that day so long ago.

I'm telling you, there is nothing funnier than seeing Odette from Swan Lake played by a guy with hair on his chest peeping out from the top of his feathered tutu. The whole evening was hilarious. Together with my women friends, I could not stop laughing. They were really good dancers, but it was just so warped to see these very muscular guys trying to float gracefully and flutter their arms. I would go again in a New York minute.

So, tomorrow I'm making the apple crumb pie, Linny. I have a feeling it will be a real husband-pleaser. Bought some vanilla ice cream for topping.
