Good Morning,

Today I did a 35 minute I-Tread then the chest work from STS Meso 2 Week 1.

Lots of house chores today, I tried a new cleaner on the grout in the kitchen....yeah it didn;t work, taken by the internet again. The only thing that really works is those Mr Clean Magic Erasers. You still have to scrub each grout line on your hands and knees but at least it comes clean. While doing this, the security system goes off crazy like and all the panels are flashing "open circuit" like something is broken...poor dogs were going crazy, keegan was wailing because it hurt his ears. Lucky my cousing is a past owner of a security system company so I called him and he walks us through getting it off. The panel may be fried. Joy.

Garance, I used the Tower for the first time today. I think I need to get more risers. I only have 6 regular ones so only 3 per side. I need it higher. How many do you have?

Joan, don't feel bad about complaining. YOu need to vent and we are here for that purpose! Sorry that your Mom needs more surgery. Hopefully this will be the end.

Cathy, WOW those workouts sound tough...how long was it total? Glad you got rain and more on the way. It has been raining here on and off for 3 days.

Have a great rest of the weekend!

Hi Deb and any later posters--

I did Physique 57 today (57 min.).

Deb, so when I start the STS series again, I will need more risers under my new tower?? I wondered about that.

DH's suggestion on cleaning grout: sand out the surface dirt and then use a sealer to keep the dirt out. DH has a sanding wheel and he did this on the grout in the laundry room, and it seems to be working with the new sealant. The new epoxy grouts don't get filthy, so I guess you could just start all over. (Blech!)

Good for you on getting back into the exercise groove, Deb.

Joan, feel free to vent. Wait until I am grading papers again this spring. I will probably give you some really irritating samples of bad writing that drive me up the wall and through the ceiling. With all the stupid texting and tweeting by college-age kids, their writing skills have sunk to an all-time low. See? I'm venting already, and I'm still on sabbatical.

I heard it was 97 degrees in Laredo Texas yesterday, Cathy. Say it isn't so where you are.

Hi to Josie!

Monday

Good Morning!

No workout this morning...crappy nights sleep.

Garance, I guess we should be ok with the number of risers. I have 6 regular ones l, so will use 3 per side for the flat bench and then add in the slanted ones for incline stuff. We just have to put the bar lower to accomodate it. I really don;t want to invest any more money in STS related stuff. 4 risers is another $60, plus shipping.

Nothing new here today, I go back to work which is depressing. I can't wait to retire.

Have a good day.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathe--

This morning I did Kelly C-M's Cardio Sculpt Fitness (70 min.).

Deb, you sound like you are in the slough-of-despond. I know what you mean, though. Some days I really look forward to retirement and not pushing myself to do anything at all. But most of the time I look forward to going to my office and putting in some work. I am a bit cranky today, because DH and I had our sleep interrupted at 4:48 A.M. by a freak call. DH picked it up, but no answer. He called the number back and got an answering machine from someone at the Massachusetts Farm Bureau. HUH?? It was hard for me to get back to sleep.

Today I will definitely start writing on the final chapter. I have only been outlining so far. The dread factor.

It's pretty gloomy here today. But the leaves are really pretty, vibrant with color, especially the sugar maples.

Hi Deb, Garance, Josie and Cathy,

I did finish disc 8 last night. I wanted to do a leg disc but was still sore from Thursday. I don't know why meso 1 legs gave me doms when physique 57 hurt more while doing it but didn't give me doms.

I have Elliot taking an early nap because we have 2pm doctors appt.

I had been down 1lb yesterday before we went out for Mexican. I hope it was just the salt. (not the 3 baskets of chips)

There are some days where I have trouble getting started to work but I don't think I would ever want to retire.

Bbl with wo.

Joan

do ya'll have any idea why the crosstrainer thingie does not work on the workout calendar? there is no way to put it in your calendar.

Tuesday

Good Morning,

No workout again. I woke up with the alarm and just did not want to move. Yesterday was a long busy day at work and very stressful. Then I am thinking about having to go to Washington on Sunday for 4 days, what needs to be done beforehand etc.

Garance, I dream about retirement. I have been at this job for almost 37 years. It's getting old, along with me... Calls in the middle of the night scare me, glad it was a crank for you and not something serious.

Joan, none of the STS leg workouts gave me DOMS, even Meso 3 with the heaviest weights I ever used. Of course I only tried one Plyo one, and did a lot of modifications so maybe those would have given DOMS, who knows. How do you like Physique 57? If you ate Mexican, it's definitely the salt.

Cathy, what crosstrainer thing are you referring to? Are you trying to add your Firm workouts to your calendar?

Cold and rainy still here. Maybe it's the weather that has me down, or maybe making the arrangements for the interrment of my Dad's cremains, which I should have done months ago.....

Sorry to be such a downer...I will be better tomorrow...take care.

Hi Ladies,

I'm back! I'm very tired today and would love to take the day off, but I have work to do.
My grand kids took all my energy. I went to Lemoore, CA to attend the court hearing for my DS's custody and child support, so I was on the road Friday, Sunday and Monday a total of 9 hours. Everything went well with the hearing, so I'm glad that it's over with.

I will be working out with Kevin this evening; I hope that I have enough energy for that.

Have a nice day!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did the Physique 57 workout for abs and arms, followed by 2 miles with Leslie, so approx. 60 min.

Joan, I like your suggestion over at the Shock Cardio Forum. A dvd devoted to supplying low impact moves as substitutions that also keep up the intensity would be superb. I don't like SNM's response on those box jumps. My sons are both adept at doing 16 inch box jumps, but they are 25 and 27 years old--and one of them skinned his shin (in the process of making the jump) so badly that he had to go to the emergency room. I'm glad I never even looked at the plyos for legs in Meso 3. It would have just depressed me. I hope there are a few routines that look good in the Shock Cardio for my aging body. I guess what irritates me is that all SNM had to do was ANSWER THE QUESTION! They still have not, and as a result the thread just goes on and on and then they intervene with a couple lectures. Still no straight answer. Bah! Humbug!

Deb, I started right out of graduate school in 1972, so I have been at it for 37 years too. As you know, it's the paper grading that gets me down and makes me want to retire.

Welcome back, Josie, glad the hearing went well. You sound very upbeat.

Cathy, you sound like you are a workout fanatic. How many workouts do you own? I gave up on the Firm ages ago with all their marketing schemes.

deb, yes, when you go to the workout calendar and click on add workout then it goes to the page where you select your workout. there are several catagories, and crosstrainer is one, but it doesn't do anything. and, yes, i am putting my firms in as cardio. but, that doesn't really quite cover it. the firm's are different, cuz you use lite weights during some cardio segments to bump up the intensity. and they are kind of like interval, i guess, but i don't know if they would be classified as interval. anyway, the one i did today was killer, seemed almost as hard as an imax. i did use the 8" for all step and used wt. gloves on some of them. but, i was sweating like crazy, sweat was running in my eyes, i couldn't even see. i'm not kiddin'. anyone who has done super cardio know what i mean.

linda, i do tend to be a bit of an over-achiever. but, i didn't workout all weekend , so i did 2 yesterday to catch up. it was only 65m. cathe's are all that long or longer. today was 60m. i still love the firm. just don't get all of them. did not get hte wave. it looks kinda dorky. but, i do love the transfirmer series. and some of the new ones that don't use a step. and i don't know how many i own, but not near as many as some of the ladies here. i only have firms, tracie long, (5), and then just started doing cathe a couple of years ago. i only have a few of cathe's. and i recorded some off of fittv.

Wednesday

Good Morning,

I am still not feeling like doing any workouts...not only do I need someone to yell at me, I need a swift kick in the behind. The weather is like November here, cold and rainy. Kind of strange since most of the leaves are still green.

Josie, how did the Kevin workout go?

Garance, are you watching DWTS? I was caught up yesterday and taped the results show so I do not know yet who was voted off, but I see on MSN that Delay quit. About time. What intelligent person would stay on with a stress fracture in both feet? what a jerk. He was terrible anyway, I had to fast forward through his dances, couldn't stand watching him.

Joan, I also read that whole string on the modifyiers in STS Shock Cardio...unbeliveable. How do people take a simple question and make such a debate out of it? I guess the answer was ,"No", but they didn't want to come out and just say it.

Cathy, I always liked the Firm workouts, the first 6 were the best IMO. They were what started me to get serious about weight training. I actually have them in both Beta format and VHS.

Have a good one!

Hi Ladies,

My wo last night was just ok. Kevin was not there and the sub was a bit of a drag. I already did not feel like being there and my partner canceled on me at the last minute so I was hoping that Kevin would get me out of the funk because he is always very up and happy, but it did not work out that way. I will be spinning tonight.

Deb, get you booty in gear and start working out! The holidays are coming and you want to fit into your party dresses.

Garance and Deb, I have been working non-stop for 34 years, but I don't want to retire.
I would probably work 50% time just to have more time to do other things. I was thinking of going back to school the other 50%.

Joan, how is your mom?

Cathy, you work out so hard! I don't know how you have any energy left for your grandkids.

Have a great day!

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did High Step Challenge--the 51 min. premix.

Deb, it is pouring rain here at the moment. I really did not want to get up this morning. Something so soothing about listening to the rain and drowsing back to sleep. But then I think what a sad state my body would be in without the time I put into exercise (something negative) followed by how pleased I am when I receive a compliment on how good I look (something positive)---SO GET UP GIRL AND SHAKE THAT BOOTY WHILE YOU STILL HAVE ONE! NOTHING WORSE THAN A FALLEN BOOTY! Seriously, you should think of something that would motivate you and make it your mantra--and don't make it all negative or guilt-ridden. Yes, I think Tom Delay should absent himself from felicity for awhile and draw his breath in pain for being stupid about his injuries and also because he is a lousy dancer. I agree on that modifier thread. Just answer the question, SNM.

Cathy, I have all of Cathe's stuff going back to the earliest days. She used to just look like a Jersey girl with big hair and thong style leotards and some very cheesy sets at times. Now she is a one-woman empire.

Josie, I have often thought when I retire that I would like to take some art classes--drawing, water colors, something like that.

Hi to Joan!

Hi ladies,

I thought I had posted yesterday. I must be getting old. I did disc 9 on Monday and RS yesterday.

Deb I was going to suggest only light exercise like taking a walk but cold and rainy don't exactly make the ideal conditions.

I guess they did answer that there would be no modifier, in a convoluted kind of way. I still am insulted about the way they said it. They seem to imply that we should all be in Cathe's shape and could still do everything she does no matter what your age. I have one author that says that anyone who is overweight and exercises will eventually have knee problems. I wish I had never gotten overweight but I think if Cathe eliminates all customers who have been overweight she is limiting her customer base.

I got a call from doctor and because the spot that needs to be removed is between cancer and skin there will probably not be enough room so they can do 5 day radiation. I wish they had just taken enough to begin with.
New sugery will probably be around the 19th and then 3 weeks later they will start 6 weeks of radiation.

Josie Glad hearing went well.

Joan

Thursday

Good Morning,

No workout, I am such a slug lately. Then I am off to DC on Sunday, so that messes up the start of a new week. I am seriously thinking of Not bringing any workout stuff with me as well.

Josie, too bad Kevin wasn't there but at least you got a workout in.

Garance, I was sad to see Max go on DWTS, and really think it was not their time to go...who the heck is voting for Tom DeLay? At least he is gone now. When I retire I would definitely get some type of part time job, maybe in a pet store or something.

Joan, good for you for getting in the workouts, even with all that is on your plate these days. It must help with the stress level you are under right now.

Hi to Cathy,

Have a good one..

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did Physique 57 30 min. for legs and abs with 2 miles with Leslie (28 min.).

Joan, I agree with you about SNM--as you know! They did not answer the question directly, instead choosing to lecture in response to negative criticism. It's as if you are either supportive of Cathe whatever she chooses to make, market, and promote, or somehow you're an ungrateful slob for wanting to know something about the product in advance of buying it, or having bought it, wanting to know a little more about whether you have been suckered into something you won't use because PRESALE PRICE looks too good to pass by. I have written in my diary, NO MORE PRESALES! I am currently regretting my tower because it just doesn't fit into my living room and it's too much trouble to move it back and forth. Maybe I will feel more positive when I return to STS. It is good for Physique 57--but then so was the chair!

Deb, maybe an exercise hiatus is what you need, if that is what your body is telling you right now. I really think for me I need to just keep on schedule except when I am on vacation or travelling. 6x per week and one day off. But you know, if I had to get up as early as you do, I don't know if I would be able to do this.

Definitely fall-like here, and very windy last night. Sounded like wailing banshees at times.

Hi to Josie (cannot recommend HER FEARFUL SYMMETRY--totally creeped me out. Now reading Jonathan Kellerman's new one--EVIDENCE)!

Hi to Cathy!

Finally Friday

Good Morning,

No excuses on the workout not happening again. I am sleeping better than I have in months, even with a 2:00 am dog waking me up to go outside last night.

Garance, I had all last week off and did not do one workout, so the time thing is not it either. I have used the Tower once and did like it a lot. Not sure if I would like it in my living room though. Not that my living room is any kind of a showcase, with DH's fly tying bench and all his junk around. Do you have an extra bedroom or somewhere in a basement that you could set up your exercise stuff? I am reading that V.I Warshawski book and am having a hard time getting into it. Part of my current mode of not being able to concentrate on anything I'm sure. Maybe it's the hormones and Menopause I can blame all this on?

Hi to Josie, Joan and Cathy!

Hi Ladies,

I did not wo on Wednesday and Thursday. Deb, what ever you have I think that it is contagious or maybe I just needed a couple of days off. I will be wo tomorrow with Kevin and spinning and just spinning on Sunday.

The weather here is a bit gloomy and cool. It has been in the mid 60's during the day and a bit cold in the morning.

I will be back later.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did Cardio and Weights (60 min.).

I wish I had some motivational speaker skills to get you going Deb. I'm surprised that V.I. Warshawski hasn't been absorbing for you. I devoured it quickly.

This is anniversary weekend for DH and me, so we will be going out on Sunday night at a really fine restaurant. Looking forward to that. This is also the big weekend for leaf-peepers, so I am hoping the foliage is bright and maybe we can go on a hike. Some really beautiful places for hiking, including parts of the Appalachian Trail. We'll see.

Deb, I will start the thread on Sunday, since it sounds like you will be in Washington . . . and not working out for awhile.

Enjoy Columbus Day weekend, everyone! Tomorrow is my day for sleeping in.
