Pentagenarians & Beyond: W/B 10/16

Deb ...and anyone else who might like unusual grain/bean products... Bob's Red Mill

Yes, they have spelt, light spelt, and organic spelt flour. also flour made from every other grain you have ever heard of, and some you haven't. also a huge variety of gluten free items. hopefully I can find some locally, but if not I can mail order it. don't want to pay shipping if I don't have to.

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Valerie--

This morning I did Sweat Express II (58 min.).

Well, our weekend is supposed to be dry and cool, in the 50s. I think I may go for a hike, since the foliage is about to disappear altogether with the stiff breeze we have been getting. During our spell of Indian Summer, the foliage seemed to really get better. I may also go to a movie--the new one about Wall Street, with Kevin Spacey, Jeremy Irons, and other assorted stars. It's been getting excellent reviews.

Deb, any way you can leave the vixen at home and just take Keegan to the party?

I've been baking banana bread for DH. He loves it, and it's a great way to use up old bananas (although the pigs love them too). Not exactly spelt, which sounds very healthy, but DH doesn't like coarse bread for his sandwiches. He likes Vermont soft 10-grain.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Hi Ladies,

I just waned to wish every one a great weekend. My DS came over last night and is picking up my grandkids today. I can’t wait to get home to see them. That means that my whole schedule for the weekend is out the window, but I don't mind. I have not seen them in 6 weeks.

I will be in Vegas Sunday by 2:00 PM and having a cocktail by 2:30 and on the tables by 3:00. So ladies send me good vibes.

Josie

Good morning and Happy Weekend!!

Agility class, and lots of HouseMax this weekend. Our member appreciation dinner/combo dog Halloween party tomorrow.

Valerie, I've seen Bob's Red Mill at our co-op. You can just use the bread machine to knead etc, then take it out and bake it, like you said and it should be ok, but I don't have any times/temps for it. I bet you could find it on allrecipes.com I guess there is one good thing about working out in the basement, I don't hear any phones ringing. Of course I can't have anything cooking either.

Garance, I think we are going to take a couple of crates so we can have some peace while we eat dinner. We'll see how we feel tomorrow. Your DH would not like spelt, it is probably the most coarse bread I have ever had. Love it for toast, not so good for sandwiches. OK if you want a semi-toasted sandwich, like grilled cheese is good with it.

Josie, sending you **WIN* vibes.

Off to get started with more coffee etc. John and I are going to get breakfast in a nearby village where they have an open market across the street from the restaurant. I love the stand with all the homemade jams.

Take care,

Deb, did not find spelt at the grocery, will try a coop next week. if no luck I can always mail order from bob's. I would like to try this. according to the website it sounds like you could use spelt almost anywhere you'd usually use whole wheat flour. I love coarse chewy bread as a side with soup. and it's definitely soup season here.
Yes, take crates so you and DH can enjoy yourselves while the doggies are under control.
