Pentagenarians & Beyond! W/B 1/18/

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did 30 min. of bis, tris, and sh with Kelly C-M plus 2 miles with Leslie (60 min.).

Josie, it sounds like you know what spring break looks like and are determined to save your daughter from Bacchanalian orgies. Both of my sons were in varsity sports and so they were off training with their teams during spring break. My younger son, though, went to Myrtle Beach in his senior year before graduation and, of course, had strep throat when he came back. His photos are terrible--he's all feverish looking.

Gosh, I sooo envy those 50s and 60s temps. It's 29 degrees here, but feels like 14 because of the wind, and this weekend sounds horrendous--highs in the single digits. Blech!

Being on sabbatical is really nice, Deb, but it also means that I have to put some pressure on myself to write. I'm pretty disciplined, though, and am always shocked when I see how fast the time flies by as I labor over a couple double-spaced pages--at most.

Well, the only Oscar nominated film I have seen is The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, and I thought it was just okay. Too long.

How is the job going, Linny? How is the tax business this year, Joan?

Good afternoon everyone,

I'm still working on w-2's so no tax returns yet. Next week I'm sure calls will be coming in for appointments. Only 5 more company's w-2's and that will be done for another year.

I got the mammogram and made an appointment with obgyn for Feb 19.

I got 5 miles on treadmill. I hope there is some value to this even if not in cardio range. I'm really hoping to go faster when I lose weight.

Weather was great today. I don't think it made it to 60 but felt warm to me. I think it will be back down in the 30's tomorrow or the next day.

I'm switching "official weight in" to Thursday. I was 165 lbs today. One pound down from a week ago Monday. It must have just been water weight, but it sure is frustrating.

Hi Ladies:
Today was my first official day as unit manager.Go in at 8am and suppose to leave around 4:30pm.I was pretty close today left at 4:50pm,Md came in at 4:00 so I had to note orders and tell him what had to be signed.I'll finish up this week on this unit then learn as much as I can on other unit I'm suppose to manage too.
Deb:I also feel like a slug.Starting next week I will be working out before I go to work.I should be able to get up at 5:30 and do at least an hour workout.Great job on the staying away from sugar.Thats one of my biggest weaknesses.
Garance:Sounds like you're having a great sabbatical.I agree with the Benjamin Button movie.I did really like Gran Torino. We'll probably go see The Wrestler or Revolutionary Road this weekend.
Josie:Good idea keeping eye on DD during springbreak.A few years ago that young girl went missing on spring break.I think it was the Bahamas and they never found her.
JoanC:Looks like there is a light at the end of the tunnel with your w-2's.Glad to see you got your mammogram and going for papsmear. You'll be happy when its all done with.I think I'll do a official weight day for monday.Hopefully now that I'm working days I'll be more faithfull with working out.
Have a great night ladies~Linny~

TGIF..I think

Hi,

Feel like cr*p today...headache, stomach...I hope I am not coming down with something...All I want to do is lie down...

LInny, great news on the job!

Josie, you are working out so well! I want those temps!

Garance, we have the same weather and the same predictions...I have not seen any of the movies nominated..

Joan, keep at the treadmill, it gets easier and you go faster with time.

That's all for today ladies...

Hi Ladies TGIF,

I ended up doing 3 workouts yesterday. I did the PLB then I went to the gym at lunch time and did 35 min on the elliptical and then went to the gym with my cardio partner and did another 45 min. on the elliptical. I slept very well last night.

I will be going to the gym at work today and doing one of the cardio machines for at least 35 minutes. Tomorrow it will be spinning and Sunday ME and spinning.

My official weigh in day will be Mondays. I hope that I loose something with all of this cardio.

Deb, rain is expected all weekend, but the temps are still very good in the mid 60's.

Linny, you are going to love working out in the morning. I usually have so much energy the rest of the day.

Joan, I'm so happy that you took our advice regarding your check ups. The most I can do on the treadmill is 3 miles, I get bored even with the tv on.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

Josie

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

This morning I did AOS Providence (50 min.).

Ahhh, Deb--so sorry you are not feeling well. Did you go to work anyway??

Today is pretty mild--in the 30s--but tomorrow sounds like hell will freeze over.

Linny, I wish some good films would get here. I want to see Slumdog Millionaire, Revolutionary Road, Rachel Getting Married, The Wrestler and The Reader. I'm not so keen to see either Gran Torino or Doubt. I also want to see Frozen River, but that's a little independent film. I sometimes really feel like I'm living in the boonies.

Joan, that's great about your checkups. Maintenance and regular tune-ups, girl!

Josie, I cannot believe how many workouts you do. One a day is plenty for me.

Have a great weekend ladies. I'm sleeping in tomorrow.

Just curious--

I forgot to ask--how many of you are left-handed? I noticed that Obama is a lefty, as was Clinton, the first Bush, Reagan, and Ford. Doesn't that seem a bit odd?

Good afternoon all,

I'm right handed. Fortunately, I sleep in every morning w/o Elliot. I always stay up late so I try to sleep to 8:00. How cold is it to freeze hell?

Deb hope you feel better soon.

Josie I thought my 2 hours was a lot but I'm sure you used twice the calories. Good job. I like to listen to books on tape and refuse to listen to rest of book unless I'm on treadmill. That's incentive.

Linny It doesn't sound like you had trouble switching hours. I'm a night owl and geting up at 5:30 to exercise would be impossible,

I went to back to my midnight wo. That really works the best for me. Having the day's wo done before I get up in the morning makes my day. I did Cathe's low impact step.

We go out to eat on Friday, but have stuck to the same meal every time.
Have a good weekend,
Joan

Hi Ladies:
TGIF!!!What a looong week!!!I'm not use to these 5 day work weeks.I'm sure I'll be happy when the paycheck comes in though.I checked my mileage to work,it was 1.4 miles to job.I'm liking that, saving on the gas:D.Also the tolls.
Deb:poor Deb,I hope you're feeling better, quickly.I know that this facility just get over a stomach virus.Luckily I didn't start working there till after it ran its course.
Garance:Righty here.My DH saw Slumdog and really liked it.He also saw Nixon/Frost movie today and thought it was pretty good.I think we'll see Revolutionary Road tomorrow. We will be going out to celebrate my new job tomorrow.DH said we'd go somewhere special for dinner if I took the unit manager position.
Josie:You are just the little energizer bunny.Actually I use to get up every morning a year ago and exercise before work.Working third shift the past 10 months stuck me in a rut.Now its time to break free:D
JoanC:I use to get up every morning and exercise at 5:30am.Climbing out of bed was rough but I felt so good after getting that workout in.It was actually in 30's today, I was able to kick the snow boogers off from under my car.
Have a good night~Linny~

Saturday!

Good morning, or what's left of it!

No workout today, it's HouseMax day! At least the stomach thing seems to be gone. DH and I were out early, went for breakfast then did some errands. We are planning on making a beef dish in the crock pot today that we can bring to my father's tomorrow, as long as the weather cooperates. It was 9 degrees this morning when we headed out. Another cold snap predicted..sigh..when will it end?

Josie, I can't believe how well you are doing with the workouts! When will you be able to run dunes again?

Garance, DH actually wants to see the Clint Eastwood movie! At the show! That is unbelievable, belive me! LOL...I did go to work yesterday, had to take a client to lunch so I didn;t want to mess that up. Oh..and I am right handed...

Joan, if midnight works for you ..GO FOR IT! I think if I worked from home, or was retired, I would probably work out around 7:00 or 8:00 am..that is when I really feel like doing it, like on Sunday when I'm off. I like to have coffee and read a bit, then work out. I don;t have that luxury during the week now though. I am going to have a hard time fitting in the STS workouts being that they are around an hour long. I plan on doing them Sun, Tue and Thurs..

Linny, Yay for getting through your first week of the new job! How nice of your DH to want to celebrate! I bet he is really happy having you home at night ( awake that is!) and not having to travel so far to get to work. The time savings alone and gas is a positive thing to the change.

Any fun plans for the weekend?

Hi Deb, Linny, Josie, and Joan--

I did Housemax, too, Deb. Slept in until 7:30. So glad you are feeling better. I say get to that Clint Eastwood film before DH changes his mind! Sounds like the only DH around here who likes going to films is Linny's. The last film DH went with me to see was Sex and the City. He liked it!

Joan, it is cold--16 degrees--but hell hasn't frozen over yet. Maybe tonight. I will let you know. I like Cathe's Low Max, but I've been boycotting her for awhile now in a fit of pique over how long it's taken for STS. I am REALLY curious to see if STS starts shipping on 1/27. She's jumped the gun twice already. First, it was Christmas, then it was 1/7, and now it's 1/27. We'll see.

Am I the only one who thinks it's odd to have so many left-handed presidents? Lefties are only supposed to be 10 per cent of the population.

It must be nice to be a day person again, Linny. I agree with you on morning workouts. I get up at 6:15, and am right at it by 6:35. Have a great celebration with DH.

Wow, Josie--3 left-handed brothers! Surely there's another president there. Any politicians in your family??

Good evening everyone,

I always do housemax on Fridays. Saturday during tax season is appointments from 10:00 to 2:00. Only had 2 appointments today. I had not thought I would have any tax returns until next week.

Midnight wo was 5 miles on treadmill. "Record time" 2 hours.:D Knees weren't too bad so maybe I will be able to increase speed.

It's 14 degrees here. I don't know why it feels colder after it has warmed up for a few days.

Deb I'm glad you are feeling better.

Joan
