Good Morning!

I did not get a chance to get on here this weekend. Our club held a dog obedience show Saturday & Sunday and I was in charge of the volunteer workers. A very long 2 days, but a lot of fun watching the dogs compete and get their titles.

I will be in Washington DC from Tuesday through Friday so I will not be here until Saturday. I hope you ladies keep up with the check in.

Garance:
I am sure you are very busy with all the new classes and students.

Carol:
You are the queen of cardio!

Linny:
Please check in and let us know how you are doing ..((HUGS)).

Well off to get the day started!

Deb;)

Deb, I hate cardio!! LOL! I really do. But I know it's important so I force myself to do some, even if it is just walking. The circuit workout is meant to be my HIIT work.

Today was Slow & Heavy/Legs & Shoulders, and I'll walk 20 minutes at work later.

Hi Deb, Carol, and any later posters--

Yesterday I did Christi Taylor's Dance Fit (70 min.), and this morning I did Leslie's Cackle and Shriek (58 min.).

Sounds like you had a very busy weekend, Deb. Do you have a presentation in Washington this time?

I am getting back into Shakespeare after not teaching him for awhile. I hope my students will enjoy Falstaff as much as I do.

Hey, Carol, are you one of the HATE cardio group? I like both cardio and weights equally, and have gradually decreased the amount of impact over the years. I cannot believe that when I started, I was stepping on a 10 inch bench constructed from wood from Collage Video's directions by DH. I am now down to 4 inches after last year's two episodes with my lousy knees, and I try not to do more than a couple step workouts per week.

Hey Linny--we're thinking of you and praying that you are doing well with your medical issues. Hang in there, sister--STS is coming and we are in this together!

Back to work here.

Hi Ladies,

I'm still alive! I just had so much work due to my vacation and time off to drop my DD at college. She is now in the 4th week in Washingto D.C. and 3rd week of clssses.

She already wants to come home, but she is not allowed to transfer until next year if she still wants to at that time.

I have also dropped of the work out wagon. I can't seem to get myself motivated to do much. I miss my DD and have been a bit depressed.

My DH and I cleaned out our garage and I will start working out to cathe's dvd's in there.
I also got a new treadmill and will start running again.

Josie

Hi Ladies:
Sorry I haven't been checkin in lately. My DS was kicked out of his fathers place so we moved him in here till he can find a place. So has been pretty crazy here.I feel bad for my DS,he said his father took down pictures of him in his apt and also gave back a small sand sculpture he made his father in 4th grade.I can't believe what a a**hole my ex husband can be.
Today went for my annual mammogram(ouch). Then I'll be taking wednes night off to go to my rheumatologist appt thurs.Maybe I'll finally get some answers.
Deb: Have you been able to get any workouts in this past wekend? We will miss you while you are in Washington, have a safe trip.
Garance:I did Dance Fit too today. Hoping your class loves Shakespeare.I bet you're a great teacher.
Josie: Glad you're back. Its so nice when they do come home(less worry).Glad to hear of your new workout area.
Carol:Go Carol Go!
Hi to Rhonda and Lala1~Linny~

Wet Tuesday

Hi Deb, Linny, Carol, and Josie (welcome back!)--

I am just going to continue this thread until Deb gets back. This morning I did CTX upperbody (65 min.). Totally fried!

Josie: Sorry your daughter is having a hard time adjusting. Maybe she will change her mind as the year goes by--I have seen this happen very often. I have students from Hawaii, and I cannot get over how far away Massachusetts is from their homes. If your daughter returns, will she be living at home and commuting to school? Hope you get back into your workouts.

Linny: You must feel caught in the middle with your DH not entirely happy with DS moving in, and your DS being treated so shabbily by your ex. Phew! How low can you get giving back a childhood gift and made by little hands no less?! It seems so calculated a rejection meant to hurt--unfathomable! Hope you get some good news from the doctor. Did you fill out that long questionnaire?

Raining hard here. Teaching this afternoon. ttfn

Good Morning Ladies,

Garance, My DD has applied to LMU wich is 3 blocks from our house. I told her that if she moves back in the Spring semester she needs to live at home and then she can move to the dorms in the Fall.

Linny, Hope that everything goes well at home. It is so hard for us moms to try and keep our kids and husbands happy. I get so tired of being in the middle.

Deb, Hope you have a good trip!

Josie

Hi Ladies:
Garance:Thanks for keeping us going.I quess our fearless leader is in Washington.Praying she has a safe trip. I didn't realize CTX was such a long workout.I don't think I'd have the energy to do that long of a workout.
I did finally finish up the 6 page questionaire yesterday.Hope they can give me some answers thursday. My mammogram results are back from yesterday and everything is normal:D.My sister had breast cancer so I try very hard to get one done yearly. It also pour buckets here today, actually the thunderstorm woke me at 2pm and I couldn't go back to sleep:mad:
Josie:Sorry to here that your DD is having a hard time adjusting.Hopefully she'll make friends soon and want to stay. How's your workour area coming?
Well got to go make dinner~Linny~

First big seminar

Hi Linny, Josie, and Carol--

This morning I did the double cardio on the 4ds LIS-HIS (57 min.).

Good news on the mammogram, Linny. Hope all goes well with the rest of your doctor's appointments. Are you doing any workouts, or just trying to de-stress from everything going on in your life?

Why does your daughter want to come back so soon, Josie? Is it just homesickness, or a realization that Howard is not the right place for her? Has she spoken with a dean about this?

My first seminar of the semester on Kurosawa. As usual, I wake up early and start thinking obsessively about how it will go, and I cannot return to sleep. I'm hyper at the moment, trying to eat a bit of yoghurt and some coffee before it begins.

Have a great day, and hurry back Deb--it's still Monday for us, so everything is on hold for us until you get back from Washington.

Hi Garance and any later posters:
Good Job in the workout dept.I actually have been trying to work out more during the week.I usually workout fri, sun, mon and try for wed.Now that we are closing up at the lake I'll be able to workout saturdays too. I still am at an all time high in the weight (160)
Tomorrow is appt with Rheumatologist,so I'm not going to work tonight.Want to be fully awake for this appt.
I just came back from putting $300 hold on apt for DS.If every goes well with credit checks and friends application then he will be moving last weekend of sept.Fingers are crossed.
How did your seminar go?
~Linny~

Gosh--will Monday ever end?

Hi Linny, Josie, and Carol--

I did Ellen Barrett's Slim Sculpt this morning (45 min.).

My seminar went well except for the equipment. I am still not familiar with the DVD player, PC DVD player, and the sound and light stuff. It took awhile in the second half to show some of the sequences I wanted to show.

That's good news, Linny, about the apartment. I will cross my fingers as well that your DS can move in the end of the month. It is soooo hard to lose weight at my age so I really sympathize! The scale just doesn't want to budge off that 137 lb. mark and I have been really careful of late. I think this is too heavy for a 5' 2" frame, and I'm not going to rationalize that it's heavy muscle. Only one slice of pizza at the Women's and Gender Studies dinner, yoghurt and fruit for lunch, and my only real indulgence is homegrown tomatoes on which I am still gorging occasionally--whole plates full of them. How bad can that be?? The only lifestyle change I can think of at this point is to give up wine altogether (oh no!), or fast two days out every week (surely that's 3500 calories).

No class this afternoon, just students dropping by.

Have a 4th great Monday! (A little like Bill Murray in Ground Hog Day.)

Happy Friday Ladies,

Today is my day off and I will be going to Atlanta tomorrow through Tuesday. I will be taking my workout clothes and plan to catch up on some movies and order room service and a massage. My DH will be working the whole time. I only have to attend a cocktail party on Sunday and a dinner on Monday. I can't wait!

Garance, My DD is just homesick and everyday it gets a bit better. She may still want to come home, but I'm just letting her make the decision.

Deb, I wish I were in Washington. My DD is there and I miss her.

Linny, Hope your DS gets his apartment. I will pray for him.

Have a nice weekend.

Josie

TGIF

Hi Linny, Josie, Deb, Carol--

This morning I did Leslie's 4 Fast miles (music only), 50 min.

Wow, Josie, sounds like a glamorous weekend in store for you! Have a Manhattan for me.

We need you back here, Deb. As you can see, this thread has languished on Monday for far too long. Maybe we should go back to the weekly threads, because after a flurry of new posters, things seem to have calmed back down to the usual suspects.

I'm really enjoying my classes, but I have my first set of papers, and I HATE GRADING. I think students believe we love to pass judgment, but I really hate it. I have to tell the truth about the quality of their writing, and sometimes the truth hurts, and often dampens the enthusiasm of the student. I may not put a grade on these first papers, and just let them know from my comments what I think is good and not-so-good about their writing. We'll see.

Rainy here--definitely moving into fall.

Hi Garance and Josie:
Sorry I didn't post yesterday.By the time I got home from MD appt, made dinner, then I had to make a blueberry for work it was nap time before going in.
Garance:I hear where you're coming from with the grading.Don't want to put a damper on their excitement. Are you doing anything exciting this weekend? We probably will go to lake sometime tomorrow(depends on rain)and start bringing the raft and docks in.:(
Josie: Can we come with you?Sounds like a great weekend coming.Lucky!Have fun.Hope your DD finds college buddies soon.
Well today I had to go for blood tests. He had to take 15 tubes,I was worried that I'd have trouble driving with all that blood loss.:eek:Md is testing for rheumatoid arthritis, hepatitis c,rhupus(disorder of lupus and RA),and thyroid disease.Hopefully I'll know something by the end of next week.
Hope you ladies have a great weekend~Linny~
