Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did Physique 57 (57 min.) with my new tower. I am looking forward to using it for STS, although I find it somewhat bulky to move around.

Joan, it sounds like you are recovering from the flu as you said. The college has a seasonal flu shot clinic on October 14 and I guess the swine flu shot won't be available for awhile. I remember getting a swine flu shot when Gerald Ford was in office. Wonder if that means anything?? I read that Egypt killed all of their pigs last year and now they have tons of garbage that used to be slop for their pigs (talk about haste makes waste!). Meanwhile, the local state fairs are checking people who go into barns to look at pigs to make sure they don't have the flu because they don't want the PIGS to catch the flu from humans.

Cathy, MIL sent DH a big article about south Texas problems with hay--people are stealing it because it's so scarce and expensive. One farmer had 5 bales for his cows stolen and the article said they were 90 dollars a bale. Holy Schmoly! DH gets 5-6 dollars per bale.

Hope the memorial service yesterday went well, Deb, and your DH is doing okay. Hope to hear from you soon!

Hi to Josie!!

hi ya'll, i am definitely enjoying my time off. but, i have not done a workout since a week ago friday and i am still really tired! WHAT IS THE DEAL???? well, i did yoga on thursday, but that was nothing. so, now what do i do? i looked at cathe's post-STS rotation, and it has too much STS in it. dont 'want to do it. i want a more cardio based , ithink. and i have barely been here this week , so i am way behind on all the posts. what do ya'll suggest. and, i don't think i cna do a complete month of cathe. gonna put in some firm, for sure. so, i may check out the firm's october rotation.

even though i took off from excercise, this week was really busy w/ the grandkids and we had our county fair/rodeo. and was busy w/part of that. glad i was off, cuz i don't know when i woulda worked out anyway. so, even though i'm still tired, i think i'm ready to get started again tomorrow.

josie, i believe it, even though we had a bit of rain, it will take months to make up this drought. but, it is greener here and does look nicer. and, we have a chance of rain tomorrow, i think. is your family still out in el paso? i'm sure their rain is even scarcer than ours, cuz that is pretty much desert , isn't it? never been out there.

Hi Ladies,

I had a nice weekend and did my workouts as I posted on Friday. Today I might take a day off, not sure yet.

Cathy, I still have cousins in El Paso, but I don't keep in touch with them. We still have not had any rain and the fires are getting worst.

Deb, My deepest sympathy to your DH and you.

Garance, I'm getting tempted to buy the Physique 57 videos. Do you always get the flu shot? I'm thinking of not getting it this year because last year I had the worst case of the flu after I had the shot.

Hi Joan, I hope that you are feeling better.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did Drill Max, the cardio and upper body premix (60 min.).

I finished a complete draft of another chapter yesterday. NOW I have to read it and see if it hangs together. Crossing my fingers. One more chapter to go, and then a brief introduction. I am still aiming for the end of December. Wish me luck!

Do any of you use Philosophy's Amazing Grace? If you do, there's a 20 % off for the next few days at Drugstore.com. I love their gel for shower and shampoo and their lotion. Heavenly fragrance, and all I use for cologne.

I think I will start STS again at the beginning of November and do the 12 week rotation this time. I am hoping that the Shock Cardio will be available by then to put in--and praying that I can do any of these routines. The pictures look pretty intimidating in terms of impact and I may just have to sell them. Indeed, after looking at the pictures, I almost pulled out of the presale, but then I thought, maybe the step with modifications and the kickbox were possible. Hope springs eternal-----Sigh!

WOO HOO! nothin' like a good ole' FIRM to get your heart pumpin' & sweat pourin'. i did the old CALORIE KILLER 2 w/dale brabham. super tough. haven't done alot of box work while doing STS, cuz i was so exhausted. but, it felt good to do box and 4-limb again.

i was tired when i started, but got revved up and did some of the sections twice. i feel better now! gonna tack on a some lower body work right now.

hey, linda, is that right??? think so. i had a colonoscopy several yrs. ago. and the preparation is WAY WORSE than the procedure. i was out during the whole procedure and woke up to a warm blanket and hot tea. it was great. lost 4# too.
well, it will cool off again. it won't get cool for good til about the middle or end of oct. and we will stil have 80-85' days. one Christmas, it was 10' and one Christmas it was 85 or so. the weather here is crazy! we actually had a temp of 0' one time in about 1985. that was a weird year. we had 13" of snow in jan. and that is an all time record. we actually built a snowman!LOL! it was very strange. everything closed down. it was like a ghost town.

i posted on the wrong week, so i just saw this, linda. obviously, you already did the colonoscopy. how did it go?

josie, that is a drag. didn't know there were fires. grass fires or what? i am so thankful for the rain. it is so pretty now. things are finally blooming here. better late than never. we may get some more this week. i pray we do!

Tuesday

Good Morning,

We got home last night. Uneventful trip except that we had to wait an hour for our bags here.... They sat out on the tarmac for an hour in pouring rain. The excuse was that that there was lightning so they couldn't bring the bags in...hug? I think they were on dinner break and didn't want to go out in the pouring rain. Whatever. We didn;t actually get home until around 8:30, after picking up the dogs etc .

We stayed at a hotel in Los Gatos called The Toll House. It was beautiful. You know how at some hotels they put a chocolate on your pillow when they come and do the turn down service? This place gives you a fresh baked Toll House cookie..they bake them there during the day and you can smell them baking in the afternoon around the hotel. Love the place and would go back in an instant.

The reception for MIL was lovely, lots of her friends there. We drove to Modesto ( about 2 hours away) to see DH;s older sister who was in the hospital so she could not make it to the memorial. Sad, but we are glad we got to see her because she is not doing well at all.

Garance, I need to put the tower together this week. I think I will find a spot to leave it up permanently. Can you take it down in between workouts or are you leaving it up? You should try my one body part per day STS rotation using Meso 2....it is really good. I couldn't get myself to do Meso 1 again..maybe in a while. The story about the pigs getting swine flu was a joke right? Good job on the writing.

Cathy, glad you finally got some rain and found a workout that you like!

Josie, got your check, thanks. The same thing happened to me in the '70's when I got my first flu shot...I had the worse case of flu...never got one again and I have been fine.

I am off the rest of the week! Yay.

Hi Ladies,

I will be spinning at lunch time and working out with Keving this evening.

Deb, welcome back! I'm sorry to hear about you SIL. Your DH must be very sad and worried. I will pray for her and her family.

Joan, how are you feeling?

Hi Garance and Cathy.

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did the 30 min. Physique 57 workout for legs and abs plus a couple miles with Leslie.

Welcome back, Deb! It's a lot of trouble to disassemble the Tower and reassemble it when it is used. Unfortunately, it now just sits in the living room looking like a piece of torture equipment. That's where I exercise and since I am using it pretty regularly, that's where it stays for awhile. It sounds like you had a lovely time even though it was a sad occasion. You might want to look at More mag for this October. There's a feature on beauty products, and I think I will try the Boots no. 7 Protect and Perfect Intense Beauty Serum. The review was pretty positive for eye wrinkles. Deb, that was not a joke about pigs catching swine flu from humans.

Cathy, the prep for colonoscopy is pretty easy--just a lot of pills with water and, of course, the all-liquid diet the day before. I never have fallen asleep with the valium, so I watch.

I swear by my flu shots. Have not had the flu since 1984, when I was pregnant. They are even suggesting the swine flu for pregnant women, since apparently there were deaths last year for pregnant women and the suspicion is that it hits them harder.

Hi to Josie and Joan!

i didn't get pills, i got nasty liquid stuff to drink. it was pretty gross. and , that is all i could drink, except water. now, i gotta go see a specialist and see why i'm so naseaus all the time and burning feeling in my gut. i REALLY do not want to have surguery. i hope it is not my gall bladder.:(. but, the pain is gettin' to bad to ignore. so, gotta do something.

did the old FIRM vol. 6 today w/ janye poteet. that is a tough workout. i'm either gettin' really old or i forgot how hard those are. the leg presses did me in , i had to stop and get air.

Wednesday

Good Morning,

No workout today. Maybe I will try to get the tower put together and that will give me some vibes to work out. It is cold here today, really feels like November.

Josie, are you still seeing results from your "Kevin" workouts?

Garance, yes, I hope to rearrange my workout area so that the Tower can remain up to use. It means taking apart a really substantial workout bench, which I don't want to do. It is one with the leg curl attachment and a squat rack. Once it is apart, I don't even know what I will do with the parts. Will check out that More mag. What do you think about doing the Physique 57 30 minute workout for legs? Not sure if I want the whole program, can get the individual ones on Ebay. You mentioned that the ab work was good, but that is on the arm workout correct?

Cathy, I got the nasty drinks too...ugh..next time I will ask for the pills. Firms 1-6 original ones were my favorites. I don't even know if I could still do #1...it was tough!

have a good day!

Hi Ladies,

My wo went well last night. Today I will be spinning in the evening.

Deb, let me know how much it would be to get the physique 57 on e-bay, I might be interested. I'm still seeing results with Kevin, my abs are flatter and my upper body looks more toned. I told Kevin that I did not feel like my legs were getting as toned as I wanted them and that I was considering doing the machines at the gym, so he changed my whole program for the legs and it is tough. He said that I did not need to do the machines and he was right.

Joan, where are you? Are you feeling better?

Cathy, did you make an appointment with your Dr. yet? The kid of pain that you are having does not sound good at all.

Garance, are you reading anything new?

Josie

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did CW (60 min.).

Deb, the shorter Physique 57 workout with Tanya is legs and abs. It is VERY effective for such a short workout. I tried doing a Timesaver with it the first time, and found it very hard after the leg workout, so now I follow with a couple miles with Leslie. I really wish I had bought the ball they advertise at their site. I thought I could use one of my med balls, and I do use one, but it isn't as squishy as it should be. I decided to try the Boots No. 7 Protect and perfect Intense Beauty Serum.

Josie, I am reading Sara Paretzky's newest V.I. Warshawski and it is, as usual, really, really exciting--cannot put it down. It's called Hardball. After that I'm going to try Her Fearful Symmetry by Audrey Niffenegger. It received a laudatory review in the Times last Sunday. Sounded sufficiently weird to intrigue me. I am also reading a new collection of essays on Ted Hughes and the classics (yawn!).

Pretty chilly here today as well--50 degrees, but with a stiff wind out of the Northwest. Brrrr!

How are you and your mom doing, Joan?

Hi to Cathy!

josie, yes, i have an appt. w/a specialist in nov. i'll probably be dead by then. LOL! my regular dr. has done a gall bladder sonogram, and other stuff and everything came back normal. so, maybe this gastro dr. can help me. i don't know how to spell that work. :) well, i have done nothin' today, gonna try to make myself workout. so, ttyl

Hi everyone,

Just back from hospital. Everything went as planned. I still can't believe a partial mastectomy is done as an outpatient.

I thought I would get a lot of exercising in before today . What was I thinking. It just seemed I had so much laundry and things my mother wanted me to get for her. Just a ton of running around with a 2 1/2 year old. No wo today. I'm headed for bed. We had to get there at 7am even though surgery wasn't until 12:00. They had to stick a big old needle in at 9am to mark the spot. They covered it with a paper cup and told her it was the Madonna look.

Joan

Thursday

Hi gang,

no workout, off to the vet to pick up meds, and the drugstore for over the counter stuff.

DH is doing woodwork trim in the kitched today, something we have put off for years, and now I know why. Nuff' said. We will be going to a wood trim custom place later for a piece of wood baseboard that had to be matched to what we have. The set up charge is $60, then it goes up from there.

Joan, so glad your Mom is ok. Keep us posted.

Josie, you can get the Physique 57 disks on Ebay, but they are sold individually. If you do want all of them, it is still cheaper to go to the website and buy from there. Let me know what you decide.

Garance, I requested the book from the library, that and a bunch of other new ones that are out. I love the library.

Cathy, good news that all those tests were negative. I hope the specialist finds out what is wrong. Do you have to wait until November because they are so busy?

Have a good one...will check in later...

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did the arms and abs Physique 57 with Shelley, followed by 2 miles with Leslie.

Deb, DH bartered pigs for some work by a local carpenter on our big bay window. It is not sealed properly, so when it gets cold, the moisture condenses on the inside and the wood shelf is all stained and yucky. I will be happy to get that fixed. He also bartered another pig for work on our patio. Here the problem is that when we pull up the weeds between the stone, the small pebbles come out too. So we have just let the weeds grow, and it doesn't look that nice. Apparently there is a way to fix that as well. Finished the Warshawski novel yesterday. COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN! I felt like I deserved a little break after finishing the last chapter.

Joan, you have really been working hard for your family. There should be a Joan-appreciation day for you--maybe a day of pampering at a spa? That reminds me--are you still using that expensive face cream? Is it still working for you? Hope the operation was a success with your mom.

Gee, Cathy, I hope your pain is nothing serious. I have heard that gall bladder pain is vicious. Maybe the gastroenterologist will detect the problem for you.

Hi to Josie!

Hi Ladies,

Today is my wo with Kevin. I lost another pound (162) as of this morning. I want to go down to 155 and stay there. I will not be here tomorrow and Monday. I will be picking up my grandkids and on Monday I will be going to court with my DS regarding custody of his kids. Wish us luck.

Joan, I agree with Garance, you should have a spa day.

Hi Garance, Cathy and Deb!

Josie

Hi Ladies,

Josie good luck for your son. I really like the steady way you are losing weight. Sounds like Kevin listens to you if he changed leg wo.

Garance when you say you finished last chapter does that mean you are done? I still like my creams but can't seem to take time to use them regularly.

Deb I hate to say it but-GET BACK TO EXERCISING. I know I'm not one to talk but I really feel better when I am working out.

Today I did disc 6 legs and Imax3 premix 2.

Tomorrows doctor appt is for cat scan of area to see if she can do the 5 days of radiation. I finally got a brochure on procedure. They actually put balls of radiation material in the balloon twice each day and then take it out. Dil father had them inserted in prostate instead of surgery but they were not taken out and he can never have surgery in that area. With my mothers procedure she can have both surgery and radiation in the future if necessary. She isn't in much pain- just taking tylenol instead of the prescribed percocet. She seems to only have pain if she touches area or some movements.

Dil has sinus infection with fever and has stayed home from work the last two days while I babysat. I had fever and babysat. What's wrong with this picture.

Joan

Hi Deb, Josie, Joan, and Cathy--

This morning I did Amy Bento's Cardio Kickbox Surge premix with no surges (62 min.).

Joan, I have one more chapter to write and then a brief intro chapter explaining the overall plan of the book. If both you and your dil are running a fever, I just don't see how you should be the one engaged in child care. Given all of the attention you have devoted to your mom, it seems to me--just my opinion--your dil should either pitch in or recognize that maybe it's time for her to find a daycare situation for at least a couple days a week. I think you said she is pregnant again. Is she planning on having you take care of both grandchildren after she goes back to work? Or is she going to be a sahm?

Deb, do you want me to YELL at you again??

Josie, whatever you are doing, it's working on getting those unwanted pounds off. Good for you! Good luck on the custody--what is your son hoping for?

Hope you are feeling better, Cathy!

Have a great weekend!
