Pecan Pie Cake

Sorry I took so long to post this...

1 Pkg yellow cake mix
1 stick margarine, melted
4 eggs
1-1/2 c. light corn syrup (Karo)
1/2 c. packed brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
2 c. chopped pecans

Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Place the cake mix, margarine, & 1 egg in a large mixing bowl. Mix until well conbined and thick. Measure out 2/3 c. of the batter & reserve. Pay the remaining batter into the bottom of an ungreased 13X9" baking pan & place it in the oven.

Bake until the crust is light brown & puffs up. 15 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven and place it on a rack to cool for 10 minutes. Leave the oven on.

Place the reserved crust mixture, corn syrup, brown sugar, remaining 3 eggs, and vanilla in the same large mixing blowl Blend until well combined and the crust mixture has blended. Fold in the pecans until they are well distributed.

Pour the pecan mixture on top of the crust mixture, smoothing it out with a rubber spatula. Return the pan to the oven.
Bake 40-45 minutes, until the edges are browned but the center is still a little soft.

Really tastes like Pecan pie, without having to fool around making a daggoned pie crust!!! :9:9:9:9:9

This reciepe sounds sooo good!! However, my family really loves the southern praline pecan cake reciepe that you posted. In your opinion, which is better? Just being nosey. I'll make it no matter what;-)! Thanks HB!!

This is like kryptonite!

I'll make this cake for my DH and he will be defenseless to argue against me when I tell him I'm going to order the new Pure Strength (and whatever else of Cathe's) DVD's }>.

I must say I have noticed that HB can toss off terrific recipes with the same ease she does 30-lb concentration curls. :-cool Awesome!

Thanks HB (and Debbie - the sweet potato casserole has already been designated a year-round favorite). Keep up the good work.

They are both good...

....and the Pecan Pie cake really does taste like Pecan Pie. I guess I lean toward the Praline cake because it's unique. But they are both good!!!

Next I'm postin "Candy Bars", which enable you to use up your leftover Halloween candy!!! Hope to get that one up today.:9
