I love this women for what she has done for women's college athletics. This was posted on sports forum that I go to. It was awesome watching her win her 1000th game last night and setting a mark that no other college basketball coach (male or female) has done.
Congratulations to Pat Summit and the Lady Volunteers... Here is a little something from Pat..."Back then, there was no reward or reason for playing ball other thanlove of the game. There were no athletic scholarships for women, no money for decent uniforms, or hotels. On the road, we slept on mats in the gym of whatever campus we visited" - Coach Pat Summitt
After 35 years and playing 46% of her games against Top 25 ranked opponents,last night, Coach Pat Summitt won her 1000 basketball game. Her record of1000 wins and only 187 losses, represents a 84% winning percentage. (Coach Bob Knight is ranked 2nd in career wins at 902). She also has 100% graduation rate.
