Last night I was at the gym, taking my advanced step aerobics class that led by an instructor that I closely compare to Cathe - she is wonderful!
So I am bouncing around and having a blast and then...yowch! x( I get this pain in my leg that is located on the shin part of my lower leg and to the side of the bone area. It is not in the muscle and it hurts when I step down on it (pressure, in other words). I stretched out very well and after class I grabbed a trainer and after three surrounded me (not too embarassing
), they decided it was "shin splints." One guy helped me stretch out and then recommended ice and a wrap.
I came home last night and was feeling a little pain on that leg. I iced it a couple of times and rubbed in BioFreeze (a high powered gel that my chiro gave me - like icy/hot but more powerful). I stretched and tried to get the kink out. Overnight it bugged me a few times but I feel pretty good today. I didn't work out this morning to rest it. I don't feel the pain when I walk.
I didn't know that shin splints were to the side of the leg like that. Are they? And what do you do for them? I am not one to self-diagnose but given that I feel *no* pain today, I am hesitant to run to the doc. I figure I can keep an eye on it, rest today adn give it some extra care ths weekend. Bad idea?

By the way, my sneakers are relatively new so it is not that!
