Hello Everyone,

Well, I thought I wasn't getting married until October of 08 and now we have decided to move it up due to the fact that I am still in nursing school. We are waiting to hear from my priest but it could be as early as May 24th!!!!! While I am super excited I also felt like I would have that time, all the way till October to get into the best shape I could. I have already changed the shape and tone of my body with Cathe along with the classes that I teach 3 times a week but if P90X really delivers what it says it could then would it be worth it? I am 22 and I thought that if it could transform a 40 or 50 year old body then surely it would do the same to mine.
Any suggestions that anyone could offer would be very helpful. I have a birthday coming up in November and thought this would be a good thing to ask for. Also if anyone could comment on the diet that goes along with it or about any nutritional supplements you take that would be awesome too.
I really appreciate any opinions!!
Thanks

Sorry I am only replying again so that people see it. When I posted it it was at the top but then I checked it like 30 minutes later and it was at the bottom:-( .

Would it be worth it to do what exactly? You've said you've already changed the shape and tone of your body so what are you looking to do (with any program) as you approach your all important day (best wishes on that BTW)? There are a lot of folks around here who love this program. I did it for one rotation and thought it was ok - but not earth shattering. I actually sold it. So I guess it really depends on you and what you're looking to do? Good luck.

Sorry I guess I wasn't very clear. I want to get stronger and lose fat. I have toned up my upper body mostly but really want to work on my lower half and mid section. I was just wondering if anyone thought it would be worth it to get P90X to just take my body from toned to defined. It is also not just about appearances for me I would also like to get stronger as I said before. I can do straight leg push ups fine but am still unable to do a pull up.
Lorrie could you tell me what you didn't like about it? Thanks

My opinion is that P90X really isn't heavy on the lower body work. It really seems to have a very upper body focus. I did 3 weeks and hated it(but I just couldn't get into Tony) but I always felt like I wasn't working my lower body enough.

If my goal was lower body work I certainly wouldn't buy P90X. JMO

You will get stronger and lose fat with P90X. Ab Ripper X will help with the mid-section as well as Core Synergistics. There is not a lot of leg work. You only do legs once a week. It is a good non-weighted leg workout but not too tough. Before P90X, I couldn't do one pullup or chinup but after I was able to do four chinups and one pullup. They definitely tightened up the bra overhang area. I lost a band a cup size from doing P90X. I hope you like pushups because you will do every conceivable kind. I didn't like pushups before the X but I don't mind them now. In 3 months, I did over 1600 pushups.

I really liked doing P90X and am planning on doing it again. I have to admit by the time I got to Phase 3, I was getting a little burned out. It is okay if you want to do substitution for the Plyo X and kickboxing but I wouldn't substitute the strength workouts. I also substituted for the Yoga X (there are better yoga workouts out there, Tony's is long and his warrior poses and sun salutations go on forever.) In Phase 3, I also substituted some Cathe ab routines for Ab Ripper X. P90X was one of the best fitness investments I've made.

I tend to carry fat in my lower body too. I would never have thought that area would have slimmed down. It did a little from the X. I think that because I tend to carry fat there, I used to focus on working that area more than my upper body and abs.

I got more than just toned from doing the X. I saw strength improvements in all areas. I have gotten stronger and leaner doing the X classic rotation without subbing, except for yoga here and there.

I didn't follow any diet. I ate when I was hungry. And, the X stimulates my appetite. I wasn't heavy when I started. I was pretty much at my target weight. Yet, I lost a couple of pounds. I leaned out even more after the X mainly from power yoga classes.

I finished an X rotation last June. The gains I made on the X just continues. I started another round this week and was able to do 3 chin-ups. I wasn't able to do one chin-up at the end of the X.

For this round, I plan on subbing in some of Cathe's lower body work or adding Barre type lower body workouts onto Legs & Back. Other than that, Plyo does great things for my legs. It works my legs better than step. Instead of Yoga-X, I'll do power heated yoga at my local studio. For the last phase of the X, I'll be in Thailand. I'm taking my book and resistance tubes. Hopefully, I'll make it work.

I definitely think that P90X is the way to go to get the results you want!! I'm on my 2nd round and love it even more!! So much so that I'm becoming a coach for the Million dollar body. Not to spam, but if you are interested in it, shoot me an email & I'll be happy to give you any info you want! [email protected] The diet plan is really important w/ it also. You'll get a nutritional guide along w/ the system. It goes in 3 phases, the first phase really watches your carbs while eating higher protein, then you gradually add in more carb for phase 2 & 3.

Good luck to you!!

Hi!

I got P90X last year for Christmas and got really great results. Like you I was already toned from doing Cathe and my other home workouts but I saw really amazing gains in definition and strength after finishing the 90 day rotation, especially in my upper body. If it wasn't for the X I think I would still be doing push ups on my knees! The core workouts are also really great. I found that the cardio portion was a bit weak so I did add/substitute some step, kickbox, and running on some days.

The included nutritional plan is also a great resource for getting better results. I thought the recipes tasted great and were easy to follow. The also took the Peak Health Formula vitamin supplements and recovery drink--which they don't call "health crack" for nothing lol! Seriously, I found that it totally helped in my recovery time and lessened DOMS.

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage and feel free to send me a PM if you have any more questions.

Take care!

Coni

Thank you so much to all of you who answered. Frankly I would trust what you all tell me rather than just believe the guarantees on the box. Thank you to those of you who said I could email you. I will definitely be asking you some questions but I have to go study for a psychiatric nursing exam tomorrow. Anyway, I will try and order it before my birthday so that when I go wedding dress shopping :7 :7 :9 I will already be slimming down.
I am so friggin excited, thank you!!!!!

I just wanted to reply and tell you CONGRATS on your upcoming wedding!! I am engaged also, and I am getting married on May 25th, 2008.

Have fun dress shopping -- I just went last weekend and it was AMAZING fun!!

Thanks everyone for the congrats!
I am waiting to hear back from our priest still since he is the only one we have at our church but when we finally book the date then I will be super duper excited.
I was talking to my best friend who actually introduced me to Cathe about P90X and we are hoping to be able to do it together because we find that when we have each other we work out harder, you know how it is wanting to show off right? Anyway we were talking about how not many other people, besides everyone here of course would understand not only our obsession with Cathe but also with wanting to try P90X. We are both in our early twenties and we both feel although we are both advanced exercisers that our bodies could DO more! I really think that P90 will take us there. I am so glad I have her because I can't talk about this to anyone else because they just laugh at me or think I am just buying into some gimmick. She is truly a blessing not just because we have fitness in common or the fact that we are more sisters than we are friends but because we see the potential in each other and we are able to bring the best out of each other!!
