P90X plyo mat

I am going to order p90x and I wanted to get a bit of advice from those of you who have already done it. Is the plyo mat worth getting? I work out in my basement which has pretty hard concrete floors underneath the carpeting, and I am wondering if this mat will be a good investment in order to help keep my knees in good shape. Has anyone used this mat and found it to be beneficial? Is it much thicker than a regulat yoga/pilates mat? Any information is much appreciated!

Take care,

Ady

I don't know how much it is for the plyo mat, but I work out in the basement too - carpet over concrete. I use puzzle mats over the carpet and they work great! They're pretty reasonably priced too.

I have the plyo mat, and I like it, but I wouldn't use just that over carpeted concrete. I use it over a wood floor and puzzle mats. It works well for that, as well as for yoga. It is bigger and thicker than most yoga mats (though www.huggermugger.com might have one similar in size and thickness). It also seems less sticky than some yoga mats: non-slip, but not yoga-mat-sticky.

For your situation, I'd highly recommend puzzle mats, not just for PlyoX, but for any cardio with much impact. If you'd want to get the plyo mat to put on top of that, it would add further cushioning.
