P90X Grads and Nancy SAT

Hi Ladies,

I guess I'll get us started this morning. I think it's only Cathy, Angie and myself this weekend. Wendy and Nancy are on vacation and Laura is deep sea fishing!

Well my bootcamp class was canceled last night due to lightning. A friend lent me Kimberly Spreens Ultimate Kickboxing so I came home and did that instead. I absolutely love this workout and will probably do it again tomorrow. I have no idea what workout will be done today.

Cathy-are you running again today? You've been really consistent and that's great. So have you given any more thought to running the 1/2 with Wendy?

Angie-What are up to girl? I guess your busy chasing those boys around and keeping them occupied.

Have a great weekend ladies,

Diana

Hey Diana!

Yeah, I think you're right ~ it's gonna be quiet around here this weekend. Thanks for gettin' us goin'.

Sorry that boot camp was cancelled, but when it comes to lightning (as much I love storms), I'm all about playin' it safe. I have been caught running in lightning a time or two and it was pretty freaky.

I have Spreen's Absolute Kickboxing. Though I have only done it once, I really liked it. I found out pretty quickly, though, than an 18 lb. body bar (which is all of I have) is INSANE and a broomstick is too light, so next time I break that one out, I'll use an unloaded barbell. I'll have to check out Ultimate KB.

Later today will be an LIC premix; tomorrow's my next run. I am really just going with the flow and will make up my mind at the end of this four-week rotation. My cousin has suggested we do a local bridge 10K in early Nov. and I'm thinking that might be a better fit for me at this time. I keep saying it, but I truly had no intention of doing any longer distance races while lugging the extra body weight. At the rate I am losing weight, I should be ready by 2010. *lol* Anyway, I'm gonna hold out and see how I feel after upping my mileage a bit.

So, Ang, what's new w/ you today?

Hi Cathy-actually it is called Absolute Kickboxing. I'm headed out to go shopping for a baby shower and was planning on picking up a 15lb body bar for this workout. It sounds like maybe 12 would be better. I can't wait to do it again tomorrow.

I have to say that I did not lose any weight when I was training for my 1/2 marathon last year and running almost daily. I certainly wouldn't let your weight stop you. But of course if you're not interested in longer races, 10K's are a fun distance.

Angie-What are you up to today?

Diana

Oh OK. I know she does have another kb workout, though, and I forget the name of it. I think it would still be tough with the 15, but it sounds like you lift heavier than I do, so you'd probably be fine. I don't have that one in my rotation for another couple of weeks, but I did make a point to depart from Cathe at least a little bit this time around. :)

I was in my best shape when I ran 6 miles daily 5x/week, but I think a healthier option for me has been more cross-training. It used to be all I could do was run, run, run with some lifting and yoga--but nothing else. Now I've branched out more. I do like the 10K distance...used to do a great one at the shore every spring. I just haven't been into the races so much.

I was looking at her other workouts and I might be interested in Kickbox Bootcamp (57 mins) and Cardio Camp (70 Mins). By the way, I picked up a 12lb bar at sports authority for 10 bucks. I decided the 15 might be too heavy for this workout.

You know, I was at my lowest weight when I ran everyday and followed a vegetarian diet. I wish I could run more but my feet simply won't allow it. I also think weight training is very important especially as we age. Okay-am I sounding old-I hope not.

Diana

10 bucks? Great deal!! Although I'm sure it would help me slim down, I don't think I could ever go vegetarian - I love me a good steak too much! Nah, you don't sound old. Maybe someday I'll go back to five days of running, but for now, I'm content with where I am -- running injury-free! I agree weight training is a big part of the equation. Do you have problems with PF?

Hi girls

Yesterday was a busy day with taking MIL into town for her mamo, hitting walmart, and going to lunch and then finally to HP. I didn't even get home until 4:30 and the kids stayed overnight at Gmas.:) So, I got home, did GS legs, and then proceeded to play cards and drink beer on an empty stomach.}( I made DH tacos for dinner but just wasn't in the mood for them, so I skipped out completely. I sooo know better than that! Well, needless to say, I have been hungover all morning and afternoon. I'm just now drinking my a.m. java. But, at least I'm now back to the land of the living even though I have totally wasted this day away. Ummmmm - I think today will be rest day - LOL! I had SJP on tap for today, but that'll have to wait until tomorrow. :D

Diana - That's so cool that you have w/o friends that you can swap w/o's with. That would be an incredible way to try something new without costing a fortune! I wish I had buddies to workout with around here.
You have my respect for following a vegetarian diet for that long. Wow! I'm with Cathy - I love me a good steak every now and then. But, mostly I would so miss my chicken and turkey.:9 It's just amazing how much more energized I feel when I eat well.
Oh, and Gin Miller, I like her Intense Moves workout and that is pretty much the only one of hers that I still do b/c you can get a really good cardio in with that one. It reminds me so much of the IMAX's. I'll also do Aerostep on occasion if I want a really easy but fun workout. I actually started with Kathy Smith and then added in Gin Miller, Jane Fonda, Kelly Roberts, and Karen Voight. Now, I only have Cathe, P90X, and a couple of Gins. The other ones just seem soooo mundane after doing Cathe.

Cathy - LIC premix sounds fun. I think you are doing the smart thing by cross training. For me, I probably do too much step, but at least I try to mix in heavy lifting with it as well. I think mixing up the routines will also keep you injury free.
How's your current routine working out for ya? Are you seeing any changes?
I have one more week of Cathe's lower body to finish off the 4 week rotation. I do notice changes in my legs.:7 My legs seemed to be much more defined when I was doing GS legs floor work yesterday. I did gain a pound last week, probably secondary to all the bad eating last week, but I'm seeing results in the mirror in spite of it. That always makes me happy b/c when I start seeing changes in the mirror, the scale usually moves south a week or two later. I really should have been following different routines for a long time now. I can't believe that I basically did the same 6 week rotation for probably 6 years straight. I just had all my Cathe's arranged in my w/o cabinet and did one right after the other and never switched them up. I feel like I have wasted all those years. Oh well, live and learn!!
I can't wait to do an upper body rotation after next week. Even though I have noticed changes in my legs, I have also noticed that my UB is not nearly as defined as it has been. So, I need to start my search for an UB routine. I'm thinking maybe I may start P90X over again - anyone else want to join me??? }( :p

I'm so glad DH and DS's went to a tractor pull today. But, as I look around, they sure have left a mess! I'm not sure if I really want to tackle it, but the coffee is started to settle in. By midnight I'll be ready to clean - LOL!

Later girls

Angie

Hi Angie

So you're finally back to the land of the living! You're so funny. Actually, I'm not a vegetarian but I used to be. I love my chicken and occasionaly eat red meat a couple times a week. I also didn't lift weights, I only ran for exercise. I've come a long way! I still have a karen voight workout that I do sometimes and was a kathy smith fan too. Gilad had a workout that several of us would do at lunch.

I'm waiting to see what the Aug rotation is. I've been following this heavy wt. rotation for 7 weeks and planned on doing it for 12. I'm seeing good results but I'm getting a little bored with it. I might be game for a psuedo P90X rotation, mixed in with Cathe cardio. I saw a post earlier this morning on the rotations thread that mixed Cathe and P90X. That rotation might be worth looking at.
Just found the link:

My friend is actually a member of this forum that lives about an hour away. We swap workouts and try to get together a few times a year. I actually had wanted us to go on the Cathe roadtrip but it sold out so fast.

Happy Cleaning }(
