P90X Grads and Nancy on Saturday!

Fit_mommy

Cathlete
Good Morning Ladies.

Hope everyone had a nice friday evening. It was quiet here. DH was out and once DS went to sleep I hung out on the PC for a bit and then went to bed and read. I am STILL reading HP #4. I am slooooow! LOL I won't be buying #7 until...um...well, let's just say I'll probably be able to put that on my Christmas list!:p :7

Gotta go get ready for spin class now.

BBL!:)

Well, I blew off spin class. :p I did IClimb 18/30 mins and the did ITread 1/20 mins at walking pace.

Wake up everyone!:p

RE: P90X Sleepers and Nancy on Saturday!

I changed the name of our check-in to The Sleepers! See ^^^^!!!

:p :7 :p

RE: P90X Sleepers and Nancy on Saturday!

Hey Wendy (and anyone else checkin' in)! :)

I didn't sleep in, but it's a been a lazy day for me. Was supposed to do BC but never got around to it and am feelin' zero guilt, actually. I've got B&G followed by a run coming up tomorrow morning, so I don't feel like too much of a slouch.

Hope everyone's enjoying their Saturday.

RE: P90X Sleepers and Nancy on Saturday!

Hey Cathy. Good for you and your lazy day! Whatcha' doin' with your time today?

I'm done showerin' and waitin' for my mom and her bf to get here so we can hit the boardwalk with Joey. I am sure we will have some super evil dinner while we are there!}( Once my mom takes off for home (with Joey in tow!), DH and I are going to head to a DIFFERENT boardwalk where we will play some miniature golf (yes we are 12!LOL)and just basically hang out toddler-free!:7

So I'm feeling some DOMS in my back from the pull-ups yesterday. It's always nice to "feel" your hard work paying off!:)

Gotta go for now but I might be back later!

Cheers!:)

Laura :: went back to y'day's thread and cracked up about your pedi adventures...I don't like my feet, either, but they at least look presentable when a pro's treated 'em. I'm done with livin' on the edge, tho - it'll be back to classic French after this.

Wendy :: I went out to breakfast and have been mostly reading and doing stuff around the house...nothing exciting...Enjoy date-night with DH ~ nothin' wrong at all with mini-golf, in my book...So you are meeting a Catheite tomorrow, huh? How cool!

RE: P90X Sleepers and Nancy on Saturday!

Oh my gosh Cathy, I almost forgot to tell you! I about died laughin' when I read about your tropical french because last week I was bored so I was painting my toenails and I swear that is how I painted them! LOL I had no idea it was a "real" thing. I was just messin' around and put a light pink base coat on and then painted the edges with a hot pink color! :7 :7 :7 I actually liked the idea but it wasn't done the "right way" at all. I took it off just last night and have the hot pink color by itself now. I will probably get a mani/pedi in the days before vaca and will likely go classic french myself. Love the look too! :) I have gotten manicures on and off for years. I get on kicks with it where I'll get 'em done for a while and then get bored with it and quit. I've had silk wraps, acrylic wraps, crystal wraps, no wraps....you name it! LOL I've never done the pedi on a regular basis though for some reason. I could probably count the number of pro pedi's I've had in my life on my 2 hands! LOL I tend cheap out on them and do it myself. :p

RE: P90X Sleepers and Nancy on Saturday!

*lol* about your tropical pedi...you know, it's not hideous in that I'm itching to take the nail polish remover to it...it's growing on me in a way...but it's not the classic look I love...Oh, I tried to do my own French one time - what a DISASTER. No, the best I can do on my toenails is a solid color, and that's what I do in the fall/winter months. In spring/summer, I get one pedi per month -- the French peds do seem to last.

RE: P90X Sleepers and Nancy on Saturday!

Oh yeah, I had the acrylics done once for an event and they did not last a full week. Drove me batty. Had to have 'em removed. I keep my nails on the shorter side (just *slightly* past my fingertips) but I don't bother with manis b/c they just don't last very long for me. I am hard on my hands, I think.

RE: P90X Sleepers and Nancy on Saturday!

Manicures on natural nails are known to not last a long time for some reason. Nail polish doesn't take to natural fingernails the way it takes to fake nails or wraps of any kind...or to toenails for that matter!! I love the look of longer nails and definately need the wraps to keep them from breaking all over the place but I think I'm just too cheap to fork out the dough for the upkeep. I also get tired of having to go get it done and then spend all of that time under the dryer, blah blah blah...BORING! LOL

RE: P90X Sleepers and Nancy on Saturday!

Hi all, I don't usually look at this check in until just lately. I usually post in the 50 and over.

I am well over 50 but have actually thought about trying the P90x. Any thoughts about this at my age would be appreciated. Any seniors doing this? I do have weights, a barbell and currently do Jari loves ripped dvds and Cathes weight workouts. GS and SH from fit TV. Also do lo max cardio and gin miller and have a treadmill. I tried part of the fit test from the web site and can hold a wall squat for the time. Can do maybe 4 or 5 on the toe pushups but very shallow. Have not tried a pull up in years but am sure I can't do one right now.

RE: P90X Sleepers and Nancy on Saturday!

Hi Susan-

Welcome! I would say yes - if you do the GS and SH as well as Cathe cardio, you are probably ready. It's not so much about age as it is about fitness level. I do remember seeing at least one senior in one of the workouts. The great thing about the X, IMO, is that all of the exercisers work at their own pace. Their movements are not in sync with one another. So, you do what you can do and build up.

I started the program with fat to lose and I did not wind up with super-ripped muscles like others nor did I drop any actual weight, but I *did* see a noticeable change in body composition and lost inches everywhere (except my arms). So it's a great program for getting stronger and for busting through a plateau. I had never attempted to lift heavy before, and it was a good shock for my body.

A few other thoughts...Basically, I followed the weights portion and did my own cardio most of the time. I didn't try to eat real clean, either. And I don't have a pullup bar, so I used the bands. I do think you'll get a tougher workout with the actual bar, but you can get a pretty decent burn with the bands, too.

It's a quiet day here (there are usually about 6 of us), so you might want to stop back (maybe you'll even want to stick around :)) so others can chime in as well.

RE: P90X Sleepers and Nancy on Saturday!

Hey thanks a bunch Cathy,

That was just the push I needed to try it. I am going to order it. I looked at the slim in 6 and the P90 but I want something that will be a challenge and take a while to build up to. Just don't want to get in over my head, I tend to forget how old I am. I will check in again once I get it and let you all know how I feel after attempting a work out.:D
