P90X: Classic or Doubles for fat loss?

LeanneM

Hi all,

I know that someone asked a similar question a few weeks ago, and I've also been reading through old threads to try to find an exact answer to this question, but none of the responses I've read are exactly what I was wondering about, which is basically this:

If my primary goal is to lose some body fat (not weight, just body fat), should I stick to the Classic rotation of P90X or try the Doubles rotation?

I'm doing P90X for the first time, and am finishing up the second week of Phase 1, but I'm trying to think ahead to the next phase. So far, I like the results I'm getting!

I apologize if this seems similar to what has been asked before! :(

TIA for any help! :)

Hey Leanne!

I think that Classic OR doubles could help you lose body fat. (how's that for a good answer? LOL) I would lift heavy like Tony says, meaning 8-10 reps for each set w/ the heaviest weight that you can lift (with good form). And I highly recommend doing negatives for pull/ chinups and working them to failure.

When I did doubles, I did NOT do CardioX as my *double* workout. It was mainly when I was running and biking, so I would sub in my running for Plyo or Kenpo and add in a couple other days of cardio a week (usually no more than 4 days). I saw results both ways, but I think it's the clean eating AND heavier weights that really worked for me.

Let me know if you have any questions, you know where to find me. ;) And yeah for liking your results so far!! :D

Thanks so much, Jess! :) I've been sticking with the 8-10 reps and trying to go heavy, and I think that I'll go ahead and maybe try the doubles when I get to Phase 2. Like you, I was thinking of adding some other kinds of cardio. I like Tony, but it's always nice to have some variety! :D
