P90X Check in Monday

Cathlete
It's Monday x(. But, that means I get to do Chest and Back, and man did I enjoy it this morning. Even in 1 week I can see big improvements in my push ups and how many I can do on my toes. I'm stoked! I was even able to do one full one where you crawl under the fence and back again. I was so proud of myself (first time I did these I ended up on my face).

I'm going to add an interval run today. My heart rate monitor is driving me nuts. When I get into an inverted position (like during push ups) it tells me my heart rate is approx. 227. Now, my hr does not get above 165 during IMax 3 - push ups do NOT get it that high. I replaced the strap battery and the watch battery is fine. Does anyone else have this issue? If I use it to run or do step it's fine. I threw up my hands on Saturday and ordered a Polar F4 (mine's a Timex).

Good Monday P90xers. Congratulations Christine on Chest & Back and the pushup party! It must feel great to accomplish more the second time around. You must be bringing it! I do not use a heartrate monitor, so I can't help you on that one. Maybe when you are low to the ground, the signals get messed up or something? I did Yogax this am. It is longggg.! I enjoyed it, but think I might shorten some of the standing poses - not do so many, with the lovely fast forward option. Anyone else do this? Could do most of the poses, but the one where you support your weight on your elbows crouched down low..maybe the ostrich or something? Too advanced for me!! I did attempt a wheel, as I used to be able to do a backbend. Just could not extend all my weight up. Hope everyone has a great P90x workout today! Tomorrow is Legs/Back for me. Can't wait! And if anyone is interested, I lost my tennis match in 3 sets. It was fun being out there again, though. Happy Monday!

Christine...great job on those push-ups! Oh my...I do remember the under the fence one...:)..I only use my HR monitor for cardio. It could just be that the strap moves around too much in an inverted position and the reading is inaccurate....so did you see the marathon thread about you me and Gayle doing Big Sur next year???..}(..:)

Janet, sorry about the tennis match...:(...yes P90X Yoga is too long. I did shorten it a bit sometimes and also subbed other shorter power yoga DVD's. yes I about fall on my face when doing the Crow?....the weight on your elbows one, it seems in one of Baron Baptistes Yoga workouts that position is easier to get into...

I am doing GS Chest, Tri's, Sho, and some abs. Also a 4 mile run with sore toes from my long run yesterday...:)

Have a good day...

We're doing Big Sur? Ah, hmm - that's a tough one... But, maybe it's the push I need to get my fat butt in gear and get this weight off!!! It's supposed to be one of the most beautiful marathons in the world. How often do you run a week? I'm going to start adding running to my rotation today. I'll do an interval run today as it's icky here, and I'll be on a treadmill. I get too bored running straight on a treadmill. I can my long run on the weekends. Hmm...

OMG when is Big Sur?? Can I come??? :p I'm hoping to fit in a half in November... so maybe I could just keep going with my training...

I did Shoulders and Arms yesterday. I LOVE THAT WORKOUT!!! I could up my weights by quite a bit when I really focused on going to fatigue. I could see how different that was than a Cathe weight workout. My shoulder felt pretty good! I think I just sleep on it weird, so it hurts when I work out in the mornning. Yesterday I worked out at 7pm, and the only thing I really couldn't do well was the seated leaning over/sitting up raise thingys.

Today, I'm on for Yoga X. I'll do the whole thing since I don't go into work on Mondays. :)

Hey there Amy! Of course you can come!!! The more the merrier! We'll have a big ole Cathe reunion afterwards. Oh man, I have to up my training (up? I mean START!).

Amy...of course you can come!!!! We have LOTS of time it is not until April of next year!! http://www.bsim.org/frame.html

Right now Christine I am running 6 days a week. But running with you Catheites in Big Sur would be so fun...:)..it is a beautiful course...:)

I think that would be a blast!!! Sigh. I'll really have to quit my day job by then... LOL!!! Training takes a lot out of me and I'll need to make sure I can get enough sleep!

Okay, I had no idea you ladies were training for this beautiful marathon! Congratulations! I looked at the link and it is a beautiful run! Sounds like a great challenge. Good luck! The most I have ever run is a 10K and I really struggle with running. I am jealous!

Christine, Carole, & Amy - I am in awe! You inspire me to start running again. It really is the greatest workout. I think I was my leanest when I was running. How do you ladies find time to fit in all this training?

Amy - sounds like we are on the same rotation. I did Shoulders/arms yesterday, and Yoga today. I love shoulders/arms too. I made note of my weight, and will have to go buy some more dumbbells, as I now need a pair of 25's. I am debating on purchasing the adjustable ones. Does anyone own these? By the time you buy 25's and 30's you might be able to just plunk out for the big daddy adjustables!

Remember, eat clean! When is everyone going to post their before pics? I plan on having mine up this week.

Fitting everything in is the challenge. I'm lucky in that I have a gym membership by my office and can go for a run, then duck in for a quick shower. Over the summer I'll be off (my job ends July7th - and I'm taking the summer off before looking again), so I'll have more time then to train longer.

It's still hard. I'm only going to run three days this week, because I want my body to get used to P90X AND running. And running is tough. It takes a while to really build endurance to run further. I had been doing 6-7 mile trail runs then I sprained my ankle and lost all of that - haven't bothered to work up to that again. So, here goes...

Oh and eating clean? Lately it's more like I'm cleaning the house out! I simply must get back on plan. I do remember that when I was running those trail runs I was 20 pounds slimmer! (And 5 years younger!)

I have adjustables - they came with my barbell set. I'm using 22 pounds - and they are light. I'm going to have to figure out how to up 'em to 27's. P90X makes me feel STRONG!!! :)

Hello there -

TOday was Chest, Shoulders and Tris for me. I am really trying to work at upping my weights so those last 3 reps are tougher. I do like this workout as well and have noticed a good improvment in my pushups since the first few weeks of this workout. Tomorrow is PlyoX for me.

I am doing doubles this month - but missed my lunch workout - so will still try to get some cardio in later - probably Turbo Jam.

I need to get back into running like all of you. I am envious! My knees just dont like me very much when I run... I will have to try though..

Have a great rest of your Monday! I have to chase my puggle around most of the afternoon and see if I can get a stool sample- looks like he might have tape worms.... ugh!!! :)

I'm not as up to my former running as I would like to be... it all takes time, and I just don't have that much to spare these days!! :p

Anne, good luck with your dog!!

I'm in the middle of Yoga X and got bored so I came in to say hi. HI!!

Okay, back at it...

I just can't do the yoga workout. I take so many breaks because I'm just so BORED!!! x( x( x(

I really need the workout, too. :-( I really enjoy a lot of the stretches!! I guess next time I attempt it, I'll go for fast forwarding like Carole does. :-( I don't have the time for that today, though. Sigh.

Another P90X half-brought day. :-( But, I did do all the pushups between the up and down dogs!! That's good, right?? ;-)

I'm kind of invading your thread again ladies. I'm in the recovery week of phase 2, and was on for core synergistics today. Now in recovery week of phase 1 I moaned and groaned to anyone who would listen about how hard it was. Today, I LOVED THIS WORKOUT!! I haven't completely conquered those plank to chaturanga runs - YET - though I made it through about 45 seconds of it.:)

I guess my point is that this series kind of sneaks up on you in terms of strength gains. I'm amazed at how I can do pushups from my toes more and even do those chin ups (Oh how I would love to crank them out like Dreya!) I am loving this series.

So after CS today I did TLT's BBBB and a 4-mile run.

Enjoy the madness ladies.

Lorrie

Lorrie - you're not invading! We love having you check in with us!! This is an open thread - anyone can chime in! Thanks for writing! Sounds like you got in quite the workout!! I had a tough time with CS the first time - it's nice to know it gets "easier"!

Oh man, after my run, I'm really feeling this morning's workout in my back, upper back, and triceps (those darned diamond push ups KILL me!). Where's a masseuse when you need one?! }(

Hi All!
Yesterday I did legs & back, & stretch X. Wow..today I really felt those butt muscles! I was supposed to do Kenpo X today, but its 9pm and just getting home from workx( Since I'm missing another day, I may just start right into my second week, and start with chest and back tomorrow??
Right now, I'm struggling with trying to find time for sleep, workouts, and work! I work from 7am till 7 -9 pm sometimes and 6 days a week...At least right now, until things slow up a bit.
I have a physical job, so luckily, I get a good workout at work too. But, I really need to step it up!

I used to be a huge runner...running is one of my favorites! But, over the past few years, I just haven't made the time for it. You've all inspired me to at least attempt to run more regularly;-)

This sunday, I have a soccer championship game (yes, I still play, with a bunch of girls that were on my old college team!). It's so much fun and a great workout! And what is great...we kick all the young college kids butts!! I think we are just wiser..and Cathe fanatics}(

Christine...great job on those push-ups!

Keep up all the great work:)
