P90 Grads & Nancy ~ Tuesday :-)

RunninTeach

Cathlete
Hey, girls :D

Laura :: Whoa, 35# biceps curls!! Whatta woman!…Ya know, I really hate doing biceps with the barbell for some reason…it feels harder to me…So are you down three all week? Sending calming vibes to the asylum today. :D

Diana :: Wow ~ two camps in one day? Jerod’s really working hard this week!…Thanks for the tip on Ross…I didn’t realize they carried workout DVDs…that’s worth a look…BTW, I appreciated your response over on the when-did-you-get-hitched thread.

Wendy :: enjoy today’s rescheduled run & yoga...Talked to my cousin y'day...he was talking about running the Ben Franklin Bridge in Nov...it used to be a 5K (back in the day when I used to run it, and THAT was tough)...now it's a 10K. Thought I'd mention it to you since I know you were looking for 10Ks. Not sure of the date.

Angie :: glad to hear your shoulder’s feeling a little better…a cautious approach sounds like a wise move…I’m not a fan of YogaX either…too long, too many sun salutations in the beginning…don’t get me wrong – it’s tough but I find it boring…You might like 10 Minutes Solutions Yoga…break it up in segments as add-ons or do the whole thing for a 50-minute practice…however, the best choice, IMO, is to take a series (as in, a good half-dozen) of classes. I think it's very helpful for beginners to be able to get feedback from the instructor…after that, you can always continue your practice at home, and you’ll have a better feel for your form than if you were learning straight from the DVD. Just my thoughts.

I was around yesterday but did not get to post…I had a chiro appointment in the morning, blew off my errands, came home and napped, and then woke up with a migraine. A few hours later, I thought I felt OK enough to be on the computer, but while I posted on another thread, the blurred vision returned and the headache came back full force. So, I logged off and spent some time praying to the porcelain gods. I was supposed to do yoga, but naturally, that didn’t happen. So, I’m hoping to make that up sometime this week. Today’ll be GS Legs Timesaver + a run.

Have a GREAT day!

Morning Ladies.

Cathy: Oh you poor thing! I hope you are back at 100% this morning girl! I hate throwing up. BLECH! I'd rather SIT on the bowl for hours instead of throwing up for just a few minutes! LOL How's that for gross early morning conversation?? :7 :7 :7 Thanks for the tip on the race. I'm not sure what I'll do yet. DH is slowly trying to get (back) into running. He wants to run a 5k with me if he succeeds and with my luck he'll have me lookin' for one on the exact weekend I'd want to be runnin' the 10k!x( :p

So I have yoga on tap for nap time and then that rescheduled run this afternoon. I am hoping we can take it long today...5 miles or maybe more? It'll be a good send-off run for me before I go on vacation! LOL We'll see what happens...:)

BBL!

*lol* Wendy...yeah, I hate it and can never understand how bulimics *want* to do this...I wouldn't say 100% but pretty good!...I got a good night's sleep but am really tired this morning...But since it's not humid, I don't feel a particular need to rush. I'll take my time wakin' up...I just PM'd you the Ben Franklin info, just in case.

Morning Ladies ..

Back at my desk for today only .. LOL .. {{ screaming at the paperwork that has found it's way to my desk }}

Cathe - migraines?? ugh! I have them too .. can totally sympathize .. mine are stress and hormone related (imagine that) .. but when they hit I am usually in the bed for 3 days .. Have found nothing that really helps .. if I were the type that threw up mine are that bad .. my brother has them too and he does worship the porcelain throne w/his!

I VERY seldom throw up .. the only time I can remember is one self induced by drinking vodka and champaigne .. I deserved it .. young and dumb! The other was from food poisining from a bad OYSTER .. OMG .. I thought I was going to die!!! I have never been that sick!! I feel for anyone who has a weak stomach ...

my VBF went thru a stage of bulemia/anorexia .. she would throw up on command .. freaked me out bad!! But thank God she DIVORCED the cause of her bulemia/anorexia .. and has been fine every since .. only she messed up her metabolism and has a horrible time w/keeping weight off now .. just a sad and destructive disease!

Wendy .. IA .. some topic for first thing in the am huh? LOL ...

Diana .. go back and check my answer to the pool ?? yesterday .. how has bootcamp class been going .. what torture are they using on you now??

Angie .. hate to hear about the shoulder trouble .. take it from one hard head to another .. lay off and give it some down time .. oh .. and yoga .. my favorite teacher is Byron Baptiste .. and he has some shorter 30 min. Vinyasa yoga DVD's out there .. that are EXCELLENT!!

I bet Nancy is having a FINE time touring CA .. wine country!!
;)

OK .. have my 21st anniversary on Thursday . . gotta shop at lunch .. and maybe fit in a pedi (got to by Thursday) .. so no lunch workout today ..

tonight is the "kick@$$" class .. so I won't really NEED my lunch workout .. going to work EVERYTHING tonight!}(

have a great one .. :7

Good morning girls

I slept in again today. Ahhhhhhh. I don't know what I'm gonna do when school gets back in - except celebrate!!!:) I'll definitely need to re-arrange my schedule to one that is more morning friendly. *lol* I have been giving in to my night owl tendencies. I'm getting excited for it especially after seeing all the back to school specials in the flyers this week. I'm a bit bummed that summer is quickly coming to an end but having the boys in school is bliss, as long as they have great teachers. I just found out that the teacher that I was hoping Cam would have this year has announced her retirement.:-( ;( I'm hoping it will work out.

I had BBC legs on tap for today but I may have to sub that one. My shoulder is tight today but again, much better.:) I can't remember how tough that one is on the arms. If I remember correctly it has push ups on it too and it was fast moving. I think I only did that one once so maybe I'll give it a shot and just skip parts that I think will be too much for the shoulder.

Cathy - So sorry to hear about your migranes. I used to have them when I was young and then I basically grew out of them - thankfully. I rarely even get a headache anymore. My mom gets them though and she had Rx Imitrex. Actually she found that the excedrin migrane helped more than her Rx. I even use that when I get a rare headache and it always works for me. Hopefully it won't flare up on you again anytime soon.
I agree with you on the barbell for biceps. I don't like it either.x( I'll do it, b/c Cathe tells me to, but I don't like it one bit! *lol*
I live in the stix and we don't have a gym or any type of w/o classes so I guess I'll have to learn on my own.:-( Maybe someday Cathe will do a yoga w/o. I see on the boards that it has been requested several times - so ya never know.
Sounds like your legs will be screaming at you tonight.}(

Wendy - So when does your vacation start? Will you be taking your computer? Where ya goin?
Interesting coffee talk this morning. *lol* I love the fact that pretty much every subject is game on this board.:) I'm in agreement by the way - I hate getting sick. When I do, it's usually self inflicted due to too many CABS. Luckily that doesn't happen much anymore, but for some reason I have a tendency to go overboard when we go to the races. One of these days, I'll learn...

Laura - Thanks for the tip on Byron Baptiste. I think Wendy recommended him too. I really need to go there. Since I'm not getting any younger, I really need to take a day and work on flexibility. I've never even opened my stretchmax w/o. Is there a particular w/o you would recommend?
Happy aniversary!! Wow - 21 years is a long time and quite an accomplishment! Congrats to you both!
So, are you shopping for anything in particular today?
How often do you do the KA class?}(

Diana - I searched ross and came up with a medical equipment company. Do you know the web address? I would love to check it out.
How's your day going so far? What do you have on tap for w/o?

BBL all

Angie

Hi ladies,

I did GS C&T and coremax 3 this morning and hope to sneak over to the rec ctr for some heavy legs. I can't really do the leg workout at home.

DH's girlfriend had an ultrasound today and found out her due date is 1/25/08 and she is having twins. At this early stage they do not know if they are identical or fraternal. I have this sick feeling that they will be moving in with us.

Cathy-feel better soon. I haven't had a migraine in years-thank god. I rarely even get headaches. I know, I have Jerod very busy this week. He's basically home alone and plays video games and eats all day. I try to find active things for him to do.

Wendy-pretty gross discussion-glad I didn't read it earlier, like during breakfast. Enjoy your 5 miler today:)

Laura-Thanks for the info about the pool. It sounds so delightful. Congrats on 21 years! Bootcamp is going well and I've signed up for the Aug session. Last night we did figure 8's on the football field. Run diag from 0-50, sprint from 50-0, back pedal (run backwards)to the other side and run diag from 0-50, sprint from 50-0 and backpedal (3x). Ladder drills, pullups, hill runs, pushups, crossover runs, bear crawls, run w/high knees, situps etc. It's different everytime.

Laura-I need to check the school supply lists and see what we need. Jerod had a lot of left over stuff from school so I'm hoping we don't need too much. Jerod is going to need new clothes (he's outgrown most of his pants) and football cleats that I'v been putting off buying. They are just so expensive and he needs regular tennis shoes too. Ross is a discount clothing store and I don't usually shop there. Another friend on the forum told me I could get cheap w/o dvd's there and they were right. I'm not sure if they have a website or not.

Hey Angie ..

I like The Byron Baptist Live series here is a description from collagevideo.com :

Three separate programs. Taught by an engaging ESPN2 CyberFit instructor, each workout has a specific focus. "Core Power" is designed to strengthen your abdominals and back. It includes both ab-focused Vinyasa power yoga poses and variations of classic muscle-toning moves (e.g. oblique crunches). "Unlocking Athletic Power" is the program Baron has used with dozens of professional athletes. You'll develop flexible strength with an emphasis on you abs, back, hips and pelvis. "Soul of Strength" is a fast-moving power yoga program with a distinct "mind-body" emphasis and some very challenging moves. Like the students in his crowded classroom, you'll be motivated by Baron's powerful physique and passionate attitude. Features chant-like music by Krishna Das. ©2001

:7 hope that helps!!

OH .. and the KA class .. it was so popular I teach it once a week now!! and I am contantly "tweaking" it .. LOL .. by the time they get used to it .. I will change the format completely!}(

and the shopping .. HA .. got nothing done .. opted for the pedi .. and a trip to Movie Gallery .. LOL ... I got my toenails done in a red .. .. husband is going to faint .. I NEVER wear red ... only at Christmas to a formal .. but opted to go diva starlit red!! }(

ssoooooo .. gotta shop tomorrow .. LOL .. DH is the type if he wants it he buys it .. soooo ??? .. thinking since we have a Keys trip coming up going to buy him some new swimming trunks .. his favorites are worn out .. the trip is our main gift .. I told him I wanted a swim suit too .. so that is what I am leaning toward since he is "Mr Hard to Buy For"!!!:D

Hey Laura - thanx for the info. I will check it out.:)
I hear you about a hard to buy for DH. My DH is very low maintenance. If he has a hot meal for dinner he is thrilled. Basically, food, coffee and occasional exercise}( is all he requires. LOL He hardly ever complains and he is very hard to buy for. I bought him some tractor magazines b/c he does have tractors and goes to tractor pulls. Like I said, low maintenance! I'm a lucky girl. Of coarse, if there's something he wants, which is usually a mechanical part of some sort for his tractors or truck, he buys it himself.
I'd love to join you in your KA class! Sounds totally awesome. Variety is always a good thing - they never know what's next - that'll keep em interested and fit.
Tell DH you got the pedi for him. *lol* Think he'll buy that one?
When is your trip to the Keys?

Diana - So Ross is a brick and mortar store huh? Hmmmm - I don't think there is one in northern MI.:(
Sorry to hear about the stressful news. Hopefully they will get things figured out and you won't have new house guests, and twins to boot? Yikes! That'll be an eye opener for sure. I hope everything works out for the best for you all.

Laundry is calling.....later all

Ok .. the "evil" boss is making HOME MADE ICE CREAM again!!x(

WTH am I going to do w/him ... the ONE treat I can't say no to .. PLUS this is PMS week .. so the PMS MONSTER is TAUNTING me to EAT .. EAT .. EAT ... x(

OK .. the Keys trip is less than 3 weeks away .. and at the rate my boss is hand feeding us I will be two ton tessie in a bikini .. all my work is dribbling away as quick as that evil ice cream is melting!

I just did our stairs 10 times in hope to spark some extra calorie burn .. think the janitor thinks I have totally lost it now!! but think I will have to do 10 more every hour if I intend on giving into the evil home made strawberry treat! ..

Of all days .. a Tuesday .. and no extra lunch workout .. might have to add a clean max on when I get home .. (DH would like that as a gift .. lol) .. Angie yeah .. my DH would love a hot meal .. clean house .. and some fabulous uh um "private attention" for his present .. yup he would be good for that!! lol }( ..hhhmmmmmm that might just be a VERY good idea for his present!!

OK .. wish me luck fending off the evil delish treats ... aahhhhh .. poor students .. they will know I ahve been a bad girl!!!}( ;)

Hola, ladies… :D

Enjoyed GS Legs TS this morning followed by a decent 3-miler. Did ME abs just a little while ago. That's a good one.

Laura :: yeah, my migraines are usually hormone-related, but I don’t think so this time…I dunno what triggered it…I usually get the nausea but not always…and I try like hell not to barf b/c I hate it…On the plus side, mine do not linger for days. I know some people can have that residual headache for a week after…Mine are typically hardcore for a few hours where I just lay in the dark and am useless…but within several hours, it usually wears off enough that I can function again…and the next day, I’ll just feel “off” or slightly headach-y. It’s weird. I never had them until my mid-20s…I’ve heard good things about Baron, but I don’t think he puts out anything other than power yoga, does he?…*lol* about two-ton Tessie. No way that’s possible with all your maniacal workouts. Your poor students tonight! And they didn't at least get to enjoy any homemade ice cream. Suckas! }( *lol*

Angie :: no more of this back-to-school spirit, alright?? You're makin' me break out in hives! ;) :D…re: the migraines: I should be good now for another 3-4 months. I'm lucky in that they don't happen more often. I don't know how people deal. That would be hell.…Yes! I’ve seen (and posted on) those suggestion threads requesting that Cathe film a yoga DVD. That would be fantastic! I took my first classes at the local YMCA. Sometimes you can find them at local high schools or the community college, too. How far out in the sticks are you?…Lately, I just use DBs instead of the barbell. Hate changing the plates too much. Wonder why the barbell feels harder, though.

Diana :: OMG, twins?? That is stressful news. I can’t remember, is DS living with you now?…Sorry for the gross discussion ~ that was my fault…I did stop at Ross today but the DVD selection was slim. I saw Jari’s S&L, but I do have that one, so I didn’t buy anything.

Wendy must be off packing.
