Oxygen magazine

OK...now I know why I'd never heard of this magazine when someone mentioned it here. No one sells it! How lame is that?

Is it that good of a magazine that I should get a subscription sight-unseen?

I've gotten it at Barnes & Noble. However, I don't like it much because it is almost nothing more than a huge advertisement for Hydroxicut. Everyother page has an ad or there are 4 or 5 page "special adverstisement" sections.

This true....alot of advertisements...but I really like it. It does have some great workouts. It also recognizes the 'older' fitness group (40+)

I agree about the adds to. I've actually let all my fitness magazines subscriptions run out. Oxygen does come closest to what I'm looking for, but I don't want a subscription anymore.

I had a subscription once and I cancelled it when they featured an article on a fitness star who of course "eats healthy", i.e. egg whites and very little else, but she makes her money to fuel her fitness and competition lifestyle by owning several fast food franchises. I cancelled because of the hypocrisy the entire fitness enterprise was shown to rest on. She can stay healthy at the expense of other people's ill health. Fast food kills: just watch "Supersize me". It says it all.

And yes, apart from the hypocrisy, the rest is all adverts for various supplements, hydroxicut among them.

I get better info from "Health" magazine read in my local library and "Men's Health", read ditto.

Alright, I am the oddball here I guess. This is my favorite fitness magazine. They are all geared towards advertising in one way or another. I like to check out the workout routines and articles. Anything by Weider has many weider advertisements in it. Others are geared more towards promoting different diet programs. That is how they make a lot of their money. It is also a motivational tool for me. Once in awhile I find a new move to add to my arsenol. Also I find this magazine in some Walmarts, some grocers here and also most drug stores. Some of the Seven Elevens sell it here. It depends on the demand for the area.

Hi Diane Sue, I agree, I like this magazine also, its the better of the 3 magazines that I have subscribed to so far, I am letting the fitness mag go and will decide if I want to keep Muscle hers mag.... they all have adds, and it the people choice it they chose to eat at fast foods she isn't twisting their arms..... You know with most fast food chains you also have choices. I almost always get one of MacDonalds Premium salads when I go there and add a light dressing from home unless I am out. Then I get the Cobb salad dressing which has the least amount of fat and try and use half of a packet. I throw away the crackers and croutons. We all hav choices and I don't think that makes a fast food chain a bad place.

I second your opinion about fast food restaurants. Its all about smart choices! I eat fast food about 7 times a week and have manages to lose 32 lbs since July! Of course Weight Watchers gets credit for helping me learn about those smart choices and portion control; and Cathe(and Christi, Mindy and Seasun) get credit for helping me with exercising OFF the not-so-smart choices. :)
