Just curious, does anybody know if it's "normal" to spot for a week before my TOM? I have had this problem for about 4 or 5 months now. I have PMS right before the spotting and then a week or sometimes more I have TOM.

Sorry so personal, but not sure if I need to be worried or not. I have a doctor's appointment in a few weeks and I will ask her, but getting a little nervous about it.

Thanks,
Marcia.

You could, depending on your method of birth control. However, if this just started happening, I would check in with the doctor. It might be nothing, but it's best to be safe than sorry, yes?

Hi Marcia. I'm 42 years old and had my last child at 40 - also got my tubes tied then. Since then I spot very lightly when I ovulate - for about half a day. I had always been very "hormonal" at ovulation, but the very light spotting at that time didn't begin until after my tubal.

At my last check-up I asked my doc if the spotting was due to aging or the tubal. He said neither, and directed me to have a biopsy. Talk about freaking out! I did some research and discovered that off cycle spotting can be anything from nothing at all to advanced cancer. You can really drive yourself nuts - so definitely ask your doctor!!!!! And if you're like me, you can't help but make yourself crazy about it. My doc told me not to worry, he was sure it was nothing - and he ended up being right. Different bodies do different things. But if your doc is cautious, don't be surprised by some suggested testing. I'm sending ((((((HUGS)))))) your way. I'm sure it's nothing, but please make sure you check!

Don't you love being a woman?

Seriously though, I also experienced spotting mid-cycle for a few days a couple of years ago. I was exercising with several high impact videos on a basement concrete floor 3 times per week. During mid-cycle I spotted for several days and then it would cease.

I asked my gyno about it and apparently there is a medical condition where the ovaries are very sensitive mid-cycle and can be jarred or irritated during that time. This sensitivity causes spotting.

If you have had normal pap smears and internal exams within the last year, I would not be overly concerned.

Thanks everyone for your comments, I feel better now. I will, of course, still ask my doctor in a few weeks, but you've eased any anxious feelings I have, so I can make to that appointment.

:)
