Hi All,

My best friend has been in the process of moving and will be busy all weekend setting up her new home. She is married and has 2 teenage daughters. I want to provide a meal for them today and was hoping for some inspiration.

How does soup and a good loaf of crust bread sound? Minestrone is my specialty. Or would something like mac and cheese be more comforting? I'm wide open for opinions and ideas.

Thanks a bunch.

A good, hearty veggie soup and a baguette of bread sound good! All that's missing for a meal is a big tossed salad.

Are you taking the meal over to them? Then what a great treat for you to do the set up and clean-up and join them for the meal so they get fo talk about something other than the move with someone other than the family!

Thanks Kathryn,

That's just what I'll do! It's supposed to be a brisk, cold day today and I think a good, hot soup and french bread is just the ticket. A crisp, green salad will go perfectly and I'm sure they'll love it. It's nice to have a second opinion--thanks.

ETA thanks everyone!!

just wanted to chime in and say I think that is a great idea! Nothing feels better or is more comforting than soup and bread. :9

Soup and crusty bread. Not everyone likes Mac and Cheese, especially if they were overdosed on it as a child!

Thanks everyone for your ideas. I made a pot minestrone and served it with a loaf of crusty italian bread and a salad of mixed lettuces, spinach, orange segments, and toasted almond slices, and dressed with a homemade citrus vinaigrette. I left them with a basket of fresh strawberries, cherries, and red grapes, and a box of chocolates for dessert. It was a big hit! I love to cook but for some reason I always feel a little nervous when I cook for other people. I felt a sense of security just having your opinions. Thanks a bunch. :) ;)
