Opinions on this Rotation

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to post this rotation I am starting to get some opinions. My goals are to lose weight (about 15 pounds), but also gain lean muscle. Basically I want to replace my fat with muscle all over! I really want to see some definition.

Monday: Circuit Max, CTX Chest
Tuesday: CTX Cardio of choice, CTX Shoulders
Wednesday: Cardio Kicks, CTX Triceps
Thursday: CTX Cardio of choice, CTX Biceps
Friday: IMAX, CTX Back
Saturday: No cardio, Power Hour ( excluding back)

In addition to this, I am going to add ab work 3 times per week.

This rotation alters long cardio sessions with shorter ones, and doing one body part per day allows me more time for cardio.

Any opinions/suggestions are welcome! Thanks!!

Hi Amy,

I see that you have a LOT of cardio in here.

I am currently under the impression that cardio and muscle gain are two opposing goals. Meaning it's hard to do both. If your main focus is gaining muscle, I would suggest doing only three thirty minute days of cardio. Because muscle is metabolically active tissue (as opposed to fat) it will consume more calories. Thereby increasing your total calorie burn no matter what you do.

My suggestion would be this:
CTX Chest, Shoulders, Triceps, abs

CTX aerobics or Circuit Max

CTX Back, Biceps, abs

CTX aerobics

Power Hour

Imax through interval 5

You may want to add lower rep weight workouts like S&H and PS series at some point to help increase muscle mass.

I know, it sounds like your not doing much on some days, BUT rest is critical. Try to keep weights and aerobics on separate days if possible. Adding mass and getting definition are two separate goals. Ask away on that if you need to.

Now of course this is just my humble opinion. "Take it or leave it, right?" Quoting Cathe;-)

Thanks Julie,

I tend to favor cardio, and that is why I always put so much of it into my rotation. I am one of those people who still thinks I have to do tons of cardio to see results. As for strength training, I definitely would like to see cuts, but Im not so much concerned about gaining mass (im very short, only 5') and I am afraid of bulking.

Thanks again for your suggestions!
