Opinions on Ryka's

I think I've narrowed down my search for new shoes to the Ryka Affirm XT and the Ryka Circuit XT. Does anyone have any opinions on either of these shoes???

I am wearing the Ryka Gym trainers for floor and step aerobic and kickboxing. They provide the best lateral support I have found. i also wear them all day long when I can get away with it.

However, I cannot run with them! I feel as though I have shin splints when runnig with them. When I wear my asics running shoes I feel no shin pain what so ever.

Thanks Judy :) . I've never owned any Ryka's before and I've nevered ordered shoes online before either. I'll check out the trainers but there's only so much you can really tell by looking at them online and the right ups on each pair are so redundant that they don't really give you any insight either. So I appreciate your advice!! I'll check out the trainers as well...but I don't think foot locker had those??? I'm trying to buy from somewhere where if they don't work out I can return them to a store instead of shipping them back somewhere. Thanks again!!

Do you have a DSM Warehouse near you (I think it's DSM)? They carry a few different types of Ryka's, I know they carry the circuit XT. Also Rack Room and Off Broadway Shoes carry Circuit XT. I hunted high and low for Ryka Enlight's because I had read so many positive things about them. I ended up buying them on line. I like them, I had to get used to the high top but they are comfortable and I haven't had any problems. The ONLY kind I could find were white and navy. I do not like the navy blue in them. So, as far as looks go, not so attractive, but I got them STRICTLY for working out at home. Next shoe purchase, I think I might try RYKA N'Gage. I'll have to see what other people think of those first. Oh, BTW, I got 1/2 size larger than what I normally wear and they are a great fit.

I had the Affirm XTs and wasn't really happy with them. They were a HUGE improvement over what I'd worn before (some generic brand of Nikes, back in my pre-Cathe days when I bought based on how the things looked, lol). My problem is a narrow foot; the Affirms have a wide toe-box. Not sure of the others. Rykas are pretty popular, though.

This time around I went for Nike Shox, which I like a lot.

Good luck! If you're ordering online, remember you probably need to go up .5 to 1 size over your regular shoe size.

Thanks guys. We don't have a DSW or a Rack Room shoes :( . And my extremely small 5 narrow foot doesn't allow for much store shopping anyway...hence having to buy them online. To whomever (I can't remember) stated that the Affirms have a wide toe box...thank you, thank you, thank you...this was the kind of feedback I really needed. So I guess I'll steer clear of the Affirms. Nike Shox were on the list of shoes I was considering as well. I had just heard such great things about the Ryka's, plus they are cheaper ;-), I decided to go with those, but maybe I should follow my initial instincts and try out the Shox. I'll actually probably never make up my mind, and continue killing my poor feet with my current shoes that I'm not even sure what they were made for, but definately not high impact aerobics :D !

I just got my Affirm XTs and do not like them either. The toe box is EXTREMELY wide IMHO. I do like them better than the high top N-Gage's though so I'm going to keep them in the meantime. I noticed this weekend that Zappos is now carrying an N-Gage that is not a high top. I may try that one.

I'm getting pretty desperate.
