He has two books:
"Look great Naked"..a book pretty much dedicated to the lower body
or
Sculpting her Body Perfect" this book covers total body.

I noticed some folk on the forum dislike his books.

I am wondering what some of the praises or complaints for his books might be. If anyone has reason to think his advise is not sound or effective or if its good stuff.

I am thinking of embarking on a lower body plan from one book or the other of his.

Is there a reason I should look further before dedicating myself?

I like his books because they have good pictures, and good suggestions for routines. Let's face it, to get the results we all want, we have to WORK HARD, and he will tell you that. I guess too many of us are looking for the magic bullet that will allow us to eat all we want and work out the bare minimum. I look at all these books as a help to working out smarter. You can take hints from all of them.

I have books by Joyce Vedral, Brad, Men's Health, and now Laura Dayton. Plus all my tapes and the hints I get from this site. It's up to me to put them into a form that works for ME! It took me years to get to the point I'm at now, and these forums have really helped. I see a light at the end of the tunnel. I tried on my shorts yesterday, and they ARE looser!!! I almost did a Steve Martin happy dance!:7:7:7:7:7:7:7:7:7

Praise to all the people out there even brave enough to try on shorts!!! (Now bathing suits are a whole other issue entirely...let's face, they're evil!!)

What do you think:

Would "look great naked" be a good choice for help ?

Anything would be an improvement because right now we're dealing with what Seinfeld calls "bad naked"!

Hi cinza! I've been living with my fruit-shaped body forever...too bad it's a pear and not somethin leaner like a banana, lol. I know genetics plays a part, but so does my overeating and not working out enough. My goal is nothing out of reach in my opinion, just to be able to fit into my "skinny" jeans that I buttoned about 5 years ago. My workout and good eating habits fell to the wayside during grad school and then with a hectic job I have, but I'm getting a new job, moving to be with my hubby and I cant wait to kinda start over so to speak. I'm up about 10-15 lbs from the "skinny" days but I've also started strength training a little more over the last 5 years and have developed more muscle in my arms but not enough to account for the entire weight gain since I still cant button the jeans and the thigh area is tighter than it used to be! I dont want to focus on the scale I'm just using my old jeans as a guide. Right now as I said I'm in the middle of a move and a job change and buying a house etc and my current apartment has neighbors below me who just moved in who are NOT tolerant at all of my step aerobics so I've been riding my bike more but I just dont feel like Ive had a great workout in a long time. So right now I'm focusing more on putting together rotations (anxiously awaiting the new Cathe tapes), working out when I can, and getting myself mentally prepared for the work ahead. Geez, can I ramble or what??? Well that's my story, what's yours??

:) Stacy

hey stacy! Thanks for your story!

my story starts like yours!
But I had some good luck.
it starts, (dont they all)
with the old jeans.....
last summer i put on some old jeans and just was horrified when they didnt button...
I was so horrified that did not have any problem deciding what to do and i started it that night !

i did two things..and it worked... pretty easy too.

i parked my car and walked...EVERYWHERE! It was summer and lovely... now, the thing with walking Everywhere is you have to get your mind set right about TIME.. the exercise is easy...but the desire to get places faster is hard to overcome!
...You have to be willing to take more time to get places...and then learn to enjoy the time...Not to excuse yourself cause you dont have the time...

I walked to work and home..5 miles...20 minutes each way.. easy
I walked to lunch and back : another mile ...
Sometimes i would be out with friends and would have them leave me off on the way home from somewhere and walk home.

then the second thing....that was pretty easy.
I decided to stay out of grocery stores!
i got a good stash of veggies... and refused to go to the store...period!
So when i sat home at night wanting to eat...I had nothing but veggies.
I had lunch or breakfast out and only ordered the cheapest lowest calorie smart stuff....(and i am so cheap i never was tempted to get anything but soup, salad, poached eggs because of money...)
I made Lemonade my special treat.... I would order fresh made lemonaide without sugar and then add nutrasweet.....(now i use stevia because its good for you)
The lemonade always seems like a great taste splurge with no calories... i always was excited to have it!

this combination of walking and not having any dangerous calorie food in the house took the pounds off for the first time in my life....
and i ate the higher calorie foods at lunch or breakfast where i could easily be controlled by the cost and serving size.

I was so sincerely upset by my clothes not fitting that if i put anything in my mouth that did not belong there i had no trouble taking it right back out and putting it in the garbage!!

Its a year later...and my car is still parked... I have maintained the loss... and I have started the weights to shape things up and get strong again....

Its all worked pretty well... i still have some annoying fat on my rear ... but if i lose it i will lose my breasts... a bad compromise in my book
so my goal is to make muscle back there, to make the shape the best it can be !

I wonder if in your busy time of moving and such right now if you are going to be burning extra calories ? it might be a good time to make a dietary cut of something fatning ..You might be so busy that it wont bother you to not have it around..
So much is changing for you that maybe you can slip in a couple of new strategies?
