OK I have a confession

My dad manages a Play it Again Sports so I had him bring me up some 5 & 10 lb dumbells this w/e. I figure if I'm gonna own Drill Max, I might as well get the full benefits, & I actually do have the storage space for 5 & 10 lb dumbells LOL.

So, I'm trying to figure out how to incorporate it into my routine. Right now I lift 3 days a week--usually on one weeknight & Sat & Sun. I decided to change it to 2 weeknights & Sat so I can reserve Sun for my core day.

Now I guess I'm adding circuit training into my split. I don't know how long Drill Max will be--I'm wondering if I'll have enough time to do it one morning a week, or if I'll have to start hitting the gym 3X on weeknights (which is almost impossible for me b/c I work a lot of nights).

No way am I doing Drill Max on a weeknight--I refuse to do cardio after 10 am, I'm already tired enough, & I'd wager I would die if I tried Drill Max after a full day's work. :p

<sigh> Cathe is killing me. But in a good way I guess. :+

Laura,

This is my problem right now too! How to fit CAthe's into gym workouts (see previous post). I've got my son down to 3x/week at the gym whcih leaves me 3-4 days for Cathe at home but I still don't quite know how to incorporate it all. HELP!

Hi Laura. I know you were disapointed that none of the workouts were pure cardio. If you check out the new blog updates and see the sample premixes it looks like 3 of the workouts (low impact circuit, bodymax 2, and drillmax) will all have cardio premixes that are at least 50 minutes long. I thought this might make you feel better about the workouts:)

PS: They do look tough. Check out that sweat:7

Thanks Jacque, I saw that & I do feel much better.

Naturally I posted my preference as well. ;-) I only pre-ordered Drill Max & Body Max 2, & it looks like I might get some butt-kicking cardio from them after all. So I am a happy camper. :)

Laura, do you mind if I ask why you don't do Cathe weight work? Any particular reason or just a preference?

For a bunch of reasons:

1) I don't have the space in my house (which kind of makes all the other reasons irrelevant).
2) Even when I did have the space in my house, I just did not have the discipline to work out when the couch & TV were beckoning....
3) I started working out in a gym in 1989. I discovered Cathe in 1997. The habit was already there.
4) I like the options a gym offers--there are just some things you can't have in your house unless you're rich & own a mansion (smith machines, cable machines, leg extension machines, etc. etc.), not to mention a variety of classes.
5) I like the social atmosphere of the gym.

good reasons! I guess for me its less of a disruption with two kids. I don't feel like I've actually "left" them to go work out, ya know?

Laura,

Do you ever workout twice in one day? I find that's the only way for me to do both cardio and gym weight work. I go to the gym at lunch, though, rather than after work. How about something like this:

Sat - Weights at gym
Sun - Cardio at home
Mon - Circuit at home
Tues - Cardio at home
Wed - Cardio at home in a.m./weights at gym in pm
Thurs - Cardio at home in a.m./weights at gym in pm
Fri - Rest

Throw in core where appropriate.

I also find it difficult to fit in circuits. For me, however, they are good after I've had to skip a workout. I use them as "make up" workouts, getting in a little of both cardio and weights.

Take Care,
Shelbygirl

Oh yeah, all the time. Very similar to what you do--I'll do a Cathe cardio workout before work & hit the gym to lift after.

I do reserve one day for core--Sundays--I'll do kickboxing (lately I've really been into Kenpo X....it's a decent cardio workout but it's a great core workout, especially w/weighted gloves) & then Core Max or Billy's bootcamp or pilates or whatever.

Friday's my rest day too. ;) For lifting anyway, usually I'll still do some cardio in the morning. But there's nothing I'd rather do on Friday night than lie on the couch, watch bad TV & eat ice cream.

Well, maybe there's one other thing I'd rather do but, well, you know...........x(
