which bottles did you use? which ones did you find worked best to switch back and forth from bottle to breast?
my dh and i would also like for him to be able to feed the baby at times.

I used Avent bottles for DD, and we were able to readily switch from breast to bottle and back again, starting around 4 weeks, for a full 9 months (when I stopped nursing). Since they worked like such a charm, I never tried anything else, and will use them again for our baby boy!

I did the same thing and it worked great. I refuse to never get a break to pee or take a bath LOL! I think nipple confusion is rare and only happens in those first days, but truthfully I think it's one of those things "earth mamas" like to talk about to scare everyone else, just my take after nursing for 9 months as well.

ETA: I used the Medela bottles that come w/the pump and the Gerber bottles w/no problems

I agree. I wanted some sleep after my babies were born and they got bottles a few nights. Breastfeeding can be work and patience is imperative. Not all babies take to the breast immediately. Sydney didn't, it took an hour to get her latched in the early days. It was sooooooo frustrating that I would cry. I did let her take a bottle a few nights, so I could rest. She eventually learned to latch. :) Jordy Bug, he was happy with a nipple... any nipple... he never was confused... a nipple meant food. :)

I forgot to mention the bottles I used. Johnson and Johnson with Sydney... I tried Playtex and Avent but she just didn't like them. Jordy Bug takes Playtex Vent Air.
