Hi Kathy, and all! Happy Halloween!
Kathy, I hope the baseball game goes well! They must be almost done, I would think, right? Maybe they'll be the champs!
Chris, so sorry to read about Jake! Is he going to be able to trick or treat? Awwwww! You know, I was worried about my kids getting the flu all week. Apparently 20% of the middle school was out with it (one day they sent home 11 kids, I guess). And, there are a lot of siblings between the two schools, so I imagine it'll be hitting the elementary school next week. Sure hope you can manage some sort of halloween fun for him! You and your candy corn -- you crack me up! That's one kind of candy, well, along with circus peanuts, that I just cannot tolerate -- it gives me a headache. But chocolate? Well, another story, of course!
As Hottie said, my mom is from Southern CA, so it's about a six hour drive or one hour flight plus five hours of airport travel/wait time. No kidding -- it's really almost about the same amount of time to drive or fly, but usually she flies since it's sort of easier in a way and flights are cheap (usually). She's really here to see the boys play soccer -- we were running out of games -- but I think it's fun for her to see the boys excited about halloween, too. She may go trick or treating with us. I drove her on the street yesterday to see if she can handle it. It's just so much fun -- everyone knows nearly everyone, and it's really like one big block party with the kids running loose and the parents taking wine breaks, etc. There's a haunted house at the end of the street that I've never been in because Dylan's always been afraid to go but Larry always wants to go, so I'm the one who waits outside with Dylan.
No workout for me this morning!!! Darn it -- why didn't I just do it?! I felt like it was too late when I finally got up and didn't want to be working out with my mom and the kids up, and of course now everyone is still in bed. Oh well, there will be walking tonight, of course, but the intensity will pale in comparsion to 4DS KB which is what I thought I would do. I'm so lame. I can totally see why people who don't have some sort of rotation or plan fall off the workout wagon, because I seem to be living that story these days!!!
Get this.... yesterday morning there was a complete mad scramble for the car keys -- just nowhere to be found (right as we're due out the door, of course). Well, they'd been sitting on the counter when the cleaning woman was here, so I called her and asked what she'd done with them. "Oh, I didn't do anything -- they should be there." Last night I'm sound asleep and the phone rings. It's 9:30. The cleaning lady has found the keys! Apparently her helper thought they were hers and so put them with her stuff and she walked off with them. ARRRG! That's my penance for not cleaning my own toilets, isn't it?!
It was a fun day yesterday with the halloween parade and party. Those kids are so darn cute. One third grade girl was Shirley Temple -- so friggin' cute!!
Have fun today!!
