Obagi Users Out There?

I let my derm talk me into using this line of products. I have pretty great skin already, but have noticed sun damage spots on my forehead, cheeks, that I tried laser treatments on--it helped a little. It actually worked better on my once but now gone red squiggly lines-those tiny ones you can get by your nose.

Anyway, its a treatment that works pretty aggressively, skin peels after a few weeks, etc...but is supposed to really clear up fine lines and damage. Has anyone else out there used this line of skincare? My skin reddens easily so I am worried about this being too much.

Thanks for any input you might have.:)

I use obagi and I really like it. I did however have a pretty aggressive chemical peel before starting the obagi. So I credit that with fading my spots more than the obagi. What strength retin a are you on? You really are supposed to get red and irritated for about the first 4-6 weeks and then it should improve. Overall I like what obagi has done for my skin.

Hi Catherine,

Your skin looks beautiful! I am on the .25 strength? Also, my derm told me to use 1/2 gram, the distance between the end of your pinky finger and the first joint. Is that a straight line of the product when you squeeze it out of the tube, or a bunch piled up in that area? Do you know what I mean by that? She said it will seem like alot to me at first. I just want to make sure I am using the proper amount here!:)

My skin did not feel dry last night or this AM like I thought, I also got the two products (forgot the name) that soothe the red, irritated skin, and the 15% vitamin C serum and eye cream. Thanks again for your input.

How long have you been on the program? What do you do after 6 weeks?

I have been using Obagi for 5 months.

The Clear is what worked well for my age spots. The retin-a cream did cause a tremendous amount of peeling and redness. I use it 3x a week now and still peel around my nose and a bit on my chin.

I don't think I look much better and will probably only continue with the Clear. Lots of people swear by it down here though. My friend uses it and she looks spectacular. Of course, she also had laser treatments and peels. I haven't had any of that done.

I hope you get the results you're looking for.

Michelle

My derm recently recommended a lazer peel. I was thinking about trying Obagi so I'd like to hear more abour it. I know it takes about 6 weeks but your skin should look great? Any idea on the cost?

It was 425.00 for all the products, not that bad, considering I have spent 250.00 on La Mer and it does NOTHING! And that is just for the face cream. I am a product junkie with good skin, I just want to ward off future wrinkles and get rid of the remaining spots on my face.

I did do some research and on skinstore.com they offer the line for much cheaper, you might want to check that out. Although, they do not offer the retinol cream, which is prescription strength, you could ask a dermatotologist (spelling) about the line and which products they recommend, buy the retinol from them and get the rest on skinstore.com. The products are alot cheaper there.

Oh boy, welcome to my world! My mom has very wrinkled skin and it started in her 40's so I have been doing just about everything in my power to stop the wrinkles, but I think the genetics are too strong.

I tried Obagi, and I was a little disappointed. I think the effect is microscopic so it doesn't do much for what I can see (I would not make a good candidate for the after picture). I later switched to doing chemical peels. The peels take awhile for recovery, but the results are the most dramatic at least for my skin. Recently, I tried fractional laser treaments and I wasn't impressed. I just want to be able to see a difference, maybe I am asking too much. However, I have heard that the results take awhile to see, due to the time it takes for the collagen to either rebuild or do something in there.

That's been my experience, but people respond differently so it might be just what you wanted--best of luck!

Thanks, I am already feeling the "burn" from the retin-a in the product line. Good grief. Maybe I should leave well enough alone, but I think I should start now preventing future damage right? Sigh. I love the wisdom and goofiness that comes with 40, but not the worries about all the body/skin stuff for pete's sake! And don't tell me to just do it "gracefully", dammit!;) I am not a plastic surgery fan for the face, so I have to fight with all guns blazing!:7

Tneah are you using the CE Ferulic from skinceuticals? I love that stuff!! The retin A dose you are on is the lowest strength. But feeling it already huh? Yes the line that you use should be straight line. You know you can always use a little less if you get too irritated. Your body will adjust to the retin a in about 4-6 weeks. But it is that peeling that you get with the retin a that gives your skin the nice glow that it gets. Also, don't use the toner around the eyes. It'll make this area look way too dry. I learned that quick. And that just accentuated the fine lines that I have there. Oh and after 2 full years of retin a (I know that seems like a long time) you do get some collagen and elastin redeposition- which is a good thing ;)

How funny! I do use the CF from skinceuticals! Can I use it along with the Obagi program? Would I put it on before the clear and the other stuff, after the toner?

I skipped the retinol last night, am going to ease into it to avoid some redness. My face felt super hot last night which I hate, I tend to blush very easily anyway! But I swear my skin looks flawless this AM-already!;)

Oh,my hubby is good friends with the leading derm in the world (long story,he wrote the textbooks that our derms had to study) anyway, I am going to get his professional opinion on the Obagi, although I remember him telling me the only thing that really works, hands down, even though it is harsh is the retin-A. So will let you know what he said.:)

My skin reacts well to vitamin C, and Obagi has a weaker line of skincare that uses stabilized vitamin C-hum. So many products, so little time right?:7

I've been using Obagi since I was about 28 and I am now 51. I did the aggressive peel under my doctors direction and it was pretty much like they said you'll hate it but you'll love it when you're thru. I had good skin anyway but I don't know if I would have aged as gracefully. I get compliments all the time on my skin and they can't believe my age, even the people at the cosmetic counter at Dillards and other stores tell me how pretty my skin is and want to know what I do.

I had some issues with broken capillaries on my nose as well and did the laser and that pretty much took care of the redness but I still get flare ups and peel generally a couple of days a week being so active (a runner) helps me to shed skin:) so that's not that bad. Overall I'm on maintenance right now I use retin a three times a week in conjunction with the clear and I love Obagi nothing I have used has compared with it....good luck...leigh:)
