I am watching the news.

They just reported on a double shooting that resulted in 2 7th graders dying. Very sad, right? Ofcourse it is and my heart goes out to the families.

What irks me and boggles my mind is that they said that these 2 boys were riding their bikes when this occurred....AT 12:30 IN THE MORNING!?!?!? HELLO!? Do you see anything WRONG with this picture!?!? What is wrong with people! I wanted to reach through the tv screen and choke the moms!!!! UGH!x(

Thanks for listening. :)

The problem is that they are not moms....they just happened to give birth and let the kids figure it all out for themselves

O.M.G.! That is horrible! I also feel for the families.

However, what is a 7th grader doing riding bikes at 12:30 in the morning!!!??Where are the parents?????(dont get me started!) I have a 6th grader, and he is in bed at 8:30, with lights out at 9. I also do NOT go to bed before him!!

How very very sad.

that is the issue around here. we had yet ANOTHER shooting near me over the weekend. its been averaging about 2-3 a month. the city is declaring a pandemic of gang activity in our area. in our school i see very young girls pregnant and not a clue on what it takes to truly raise a kid and their parents were young so its just a vicious cycle. some of them are gang bangers themselves(and if the father is in the pic than 80% its daddy too). so its all some of these kids see. and its so glorified in music and tv without parental supervision or good role models.

its just plain scary, i can't wait to get the hell out of here.

Did these boys pull a sneaking out or the old 'spending the night at each others house sneaky thing'?

I guess I hope that the parents aren't that lousy, even though I know quite a few kids through work that have parents that are that uncaring.

It really breaks my heart to see what some of these kids deal with at home.

I've noticed over the past few years that it seems like kids don't have bedtimes anymore(at least the ones I've lived around.) When I was growing up I had a bedtime until I was in high school. In high school, I could go to bed whenever I wanted but I certainly still had a curfew.

My cousin's husband is a cop and he and I were speaking about this recently. He said that based on the calls he has responded to in the past few years it seems the era of the bedtime and/or curfew is over.:-(

Still, a very sad story.
