O/T: Disney Vacation Club

My family and I just got home from our Disney vacation and, boy, are they pushing the Vacation Club big time! I'm just wondering if anyone here is a member and what it all entails. My kids are 6 and 3 so it really wasn't feasible to have them sit around while talking to the representative (because Splash Mountain is much more fun), but I am curious!

Thanks!

There is a whole forum on the Disney Vacation Club that is very active. In my research, I determined that it was more cost effective to rent a Vacation Club Members points than to join it myself. You pay a pretty big lump sum to join (average $10,000-$15,000) and then maintenance fees every year of 500-600 and up. Basically, if you would go once a year or more and you would only stay in a Deluxe Resort like the Grand Floridian, it would be more cost effective to join the club. Contract is 40 years.

Ouch! I suppose if you only wanted to go to Disney for every vacation, that might be something to get into. But really...don't people want to try other places?

The few people that I asked about cost effectiveness said, "Well, you can't really say its cost effective. I do it so that I can OWN a piece of the MAGIC." :D
Someone has done some excellent marketing, huh? :D We do have lots of fun in Orlando and we have gone several times. I'm with you, though. When it comes to vacations, we like to "play the field" instead of being tied down to one place.

Kinda like how when I worked in a donut shop, I never wanted a donut again. I got over that, though.:9

Donna,

Sort of, but mostly the traffic on I-4 when I'm trying to go to and from work x( :) .
