Nutrition Manager

Hi, I'm using Cathe's Nutrition Manager and loving it but have a few questions that I'm hoping you can help me with.

If you're not familiar with the nutrition manager, this one gives you grades on your daily vitamins and minerals but when I enter that I've eaten a whole egg it tells me I've got too much cholesterol for that day (even though it's the only thing I've entered that day) - the egg contains 211 mg and my max cholesterol intake is 150mg. Is this too low, would you ignore them and eat the egg? I am eating it but strangely feeling guilty. Food guilt!!! Over an egg!

Also, some foods are missing from the main list (quinoa, whole wheat spaghetti...) so I've added them to my custom foods list. Is there a way I can add these custom foods to my recipes?

Thanks!

Yeah, I've been using it and for the most part, I love it. But like you, I find the grades to be a little misleading. For instance, I've added Chia seeds to my diet because they're rich in Omega 3, fiber, protein, and help you feel fuller. As soon as I eat a Tbsp of them, my Omega 3 becomes an F. The potassium levels are too high too. Says I should have like 4500, when the RDA is more like 2500. Drove me nuts trying to get that up.

Now I'm using Livestrong.com and I think I like it better. It has a more robust database of foods and it's so much easier to do the recipes. You don't get the entire breakdown like on Cathe's, but it gives the important ones (calories, fiber, protein, carbs, sugar, cholesterol....) If you take a multivitamin and eat a balanced diet, you'll have no problem getting to your RDA levels on everything. I'm actually thrilled with Livestrong. com.

Oh, and yeah.... I'd ignore the cholesterol and eat the egg. The yolk in egg helps with your good cholesterol. Just watch what you're eating the rest of the day. You should see what happens when you have shrimp!

Thanks for your reviews! I'm going to check out Livestrong.com! I thought I had tried that at some time, but maybe it was another one. I'm thinking I need to track again. I'm up 5 lbs. and can't seem to get it down. I think I'm screwing up besides the excessive splurging I've been doing and it should give me a wake up call!

I did notice yesterday that you do get the vitamin & mineral breakdown if you have the Gold Membership. I have that, but never clicked on the button. It's nice. I think it's like $50 a year for a Gold membership.
