Nursing and dieting

I am still nursing my 3 month old. Planning on nursing until at least 6 months. How much dieting is it safe for me to do? I really want to get rid of the baby weight, but don't want to hurt the baby's milk supply. I am trying to fit in about a 45 minute workout a day and I am making good food decisions, but not sure what I can safely cut my calories to? Any advise?? Will my body hang on to some fat until I stop nursing? Or will I be able to get really toned and defined before she is weaned?

I went on a SouthBeach Diet when DS was one month old with no notice in decrease milk production; however, some women have noticed a decrease. You could try it, and if it decreases use Fenugreek supplements or just increase your caloric intake. The secret to any diet is eating clean (which is more important than less calories). Eating dense carbohydrates, lots of lean protein, and healthy fats. Many nursing women have noticed weight comes off when baby is weaned...but it's normally 5-10lbs.
Good luck!
