Numbers on the screen

Hello!

I have a suggestion for Cathe about the number of sets in a weight session. I love to know exacly where I am in my set so I can focus better my input into each rep and challenge myself. I get so much into Cathe's workouts that I don't always listen the number of reps left. It would be great if on the bottom corner of the TV screen the numbers of reps would appear.

Thank you ;)

you know that is not a bad idea, especially to know what weight i could use. i second this idea.

I REALLY love this idea! I'm old (okay, only 44, but some days I FEEL old), and sometimes I feel I have to conserve my strength if there are, say, 6 or 8 more reps in the set. But if I know (and FORGET trying to remember from workout to the next) how many are left, I can really give my all to the last few. I'd love to have the number of reps shown in very small letters in a corner of the screen.

I also second the idea of showing the amount of weight Cathe is using there, too, especially on some of the older vids where she doesn't mention it. I can't remember what weight I use from one time to the next, and I absolutely refuse to write it down. I'd spend all my workout time writing instead of working out. I have a very limited amount of time as it is. But I can remember if I used a higher or lower weight than Cathe, for some reason, or if I used the same amount, so that would be great, too.

Not to be contentious, but I would like to express my feeling that this visual cue would be very distracting. I keep a piece of paper inside each DVD or VHS case with the weights I use on it, and I don't change them all that often, unfortunately. Before the workout I make sure I have everything I'm going to need set up and ready.

As to the reps, I sometimes write those down too, as a quick reminder before I start, or I can walk over to the shelf and take a peek at what's coming next and see how many reps are in the set.

I'd hate to have little numbers in a corner. I prefer just seeing Cathe and crew.

I agree with Mogambo. I think anything on screen that I would have to look up and read (whether for motivational purposes or not) would drive me nuts. I don't always have my contacts in when I exercise, so I wouldn't be able to read them anyway, and then I'd be squinting at the screen rather than focusing on my form!

I thought the little clock on the screen for Slim Series by Beachbody would drive me nuts...until I got the workouts and did them. Now I love that clock and think it would be a big help on some of Cathe's workouts.

While doing Bootcamp, I find myself listening to the music and can tell when we're getting close to the end of those endless minutes. That audio cue helps me to muster up enough strength to finish out each minute of the exercise or cardio routine.

I do appreciate it when Cathe lets us know what exercise is coming up next and what weights she is using, as a guideline. Another thing that helps me is following any write-ups, such as what comes in her catalog, or reviews from VF. They help me to make sure I have everything I need before we start, sort of mentally prepare myself for what's coming up (I've highlighted the leg presses and terminators in Bootcamp, for example), and even help me in selecting the weights. It's a pain to have to stop and note any weight changes, but that's not something that should come up too often. At least, I don't think so...

Whatever Cathe decides, I figure she has good reason either way.

I wonder if the numbers on the screen could be an option, sort of like closed captioning? That way everyone could choose whether to see them or not.

I love this idea from Shari:

I didn't post to make a big deal with the numbers on the screen. I think it could be a great option for some people like the sound option in Cathe's blast series.
