Good morning ladies..

Rainy day here....Today's workout for me is Disc 23 Legs...

Gotta go get everyone up..Be back later to chat..

Oh, I had another night of lack of sleep. Not sure what I'm going to do...had a nice full breakfast. I may stay home and process some more data, do cardio, and then go into work or I may just go into work after Joe is done running and drop by the school gym. I walked Evee -- does that count from yesterday? But my house is much cleaner...

Kathy -- last leg workout of Meso 2. Wohoo!

Good morning! Chris, I saw your post from last night -- so sorry about your neighbor and friend. I imagine that is very tough for your mom. Also sorry to hear about Zach! Yikes -- how did the night end up? It is sad that he can't be "just a kid" -- that must be hard for you to hear. So the pump somehow shows what he ate?

Crazy about the chicken sandwich and cookie for lunch so many days in a row, too.... I forgot to comment on that. When I was in high school, my lunch, every day, for so many days (years?) was cookies and a milkshake! I am not kidding -- that's all (all?!) I ate. And that's when I was swimming 3 hours a day! Crazy. So, be glad for the chicken sandwich, I guess! :D

Is everyone having a lazy day with kids? Well, not Kathy, right? No holidays for home schoolers! :) I have to leave early this morning to go to the chiro, and then either come all the way back or hope to meet Larry with the kids somewhere to take them to the dentist. And then I think I'm taking them to a kid's gym that's in town -- there was a membership at the school auction and no one had started the bidding, so I started it, and boy was I floored to found out I had the winning bid! $30 for a $150 membership. I don't know that we'll go very often (especially since I have two boys and only one membership!), but apparently they have a rotating rock climbing wall, so as you climb it rotates and you just keep climbing. I figure it's worth seeing once. Then back home for more cleaning!

I did legs today, too, Kathy -- PLB. Haven't done it that way in a long time -- I like doing the combo as a total body. Boy, that stability ball work she has in there is killer. I did my kbell swings in between the standing and floor work.

Have fun with your kids today, and remember our veterans.

Hey Girls..

It's been a very lazy morning (well as lazy as it can be with 3 crazy boys...fighting and yelling!). I really must go down stairs and start MESO 2, DISC 17 (I believe), Legs. I'm procrastinating!

Last night was hard, Zach's sugar went from almost 500 down to 54 by 4am. *sigh*. I'm tired! (amazed that he can sleep though this all, even when he wakes up to drink juice, he doesn't remember). At least he's off from school today. I understand his wanting to be a "kid", but even a kid shouldn't stuff himself until he vomits. Ya know? i do think diabetes has given him some food "issues". He feels limited. I totally understand and it makes me feel horrible for him. He has frequently made comments that the first thing he'd do if his diabetes was cured was to go to Friendly's and eat a giant sundae and not have to worry about "carbs" and his blood sugar.

As for me and *my* food issues, I did NOT feed my anxieties with food last night! *YAY* for me! I watched The Biggest Loser and ate yogurt and a small bag of popcorn! Sensible! :p

Kathy: Enjoy your leg workout today! I'll be thinking of you when I finally get my butt downstairs to do mine!

Hottie: Sorry sleep was cruel to you again! Do you ever take anything to help you sleep? YAY for a clean house though, that always feels good!

Beth:
PLB, huh? Good workout! Haven't done that in forever either! I thought of YOU last night on Biggest Loser when they showed one of the contestants doing KB swings! I do wonder how that could be some major pulling on your shoulders though, no? ... Thanks, there was a picture of my mom's neighbor today and her obit in the paper. Her husband always was so lovey/dovey with her (after 50 years of marriage!) and always called her "his bride". The picture with the obit was her as a bride. Very pretty. :(

I better get my workout done!!! ARGH!

Chris, the kettlebell swing, honestly, is really about the legs. The arms come into play slightly, but as I've been getting back into it this last week or so it's my forearms that feel it on the upper body. Which reminds me of how sore my forearms and grip seemed doing STS the first time around -- remember?!

Chris & Hottie, sorry you both had bad nights! Yay for not letting your food issues control you, Chris.

I woke up a little before 4am this morning from a nightmare. No, there were no tidal waves involved. Larry and I were standing in our room at the sliding glass door watching Gina with.... a bear! We weren't worried about her -- it seemed like she was in control and the bear was scared. We said the kids have to see this, and just as I was going to get them, I see them walking outside up to Gina and the bear, not realizing it was a bear. We told them to walk slowly to the front door and come inside, but they freaked and started running and the bear chased them and was just about to catch them both when I woke up and was doing that in your sleep screaming! I tried to go back to sleep, but couldn't. Dreams, oh brother!

(((Chris))) - I feel so bad for both you and Zach. Poor kid. I can totally see where he's coming from, but know how it must freak you out. He's at a tough age, too, where kids want to be like their friends and "just be a kid" like he said. Wow - 500 sounds scary high. So sorry to hear about your neighbor, too. Good for you for eating healthly last night, though. I had to laugh. I was watching Biggest Loser last night and eating dark chocolate covered pomegranates last night. ;) DH was mocking me, of course. The boys said, it's OK, mom works out, she can eat whatever she wants. Don't I wish?? Anyway, the chocolates are now gone (remind me to never buy them again - they were from Costco and soooo good) and today is a new day!

Beth, wow, what a freaky dream! That gym sounds fun. DH is having a lazy day at home with the kids - I'm here at work. It was nice this morning to get up and just have to get me ready!

Hottie, sorry about the crappy night again. Walking Evee is good and so is a clean house!

Hi Kathy! Enjoy your last Meso 2 Legs day.

I did Muscle Endurance today. Boy, does it feel good to be doing a Cathe rotation again. I think I figured out I don't like set programs cause I get bored doing the same workouts, but Cathe's rotations are great since it's all different, but they still tell you what to do every day. I know, not really rocket science! ;) But, I feel like I'm finally back on track with workouts. Tomorrow is supposed to be a 45-minute bike ride, which would be great, but not practical. So, I'll probably do a BM2 or CF premix. Friday is Plyo Legs - which one is the less evil??

P/T conferences were good last night. All the teachers love my kids. Are these the same kids we live with??? JK! They are not quiet at home! Actually, I was really proud of all of them - they are doing great in school. We met with Ian's spanish teacher (which Ian was very apprehensive about) and he said Ian is doing much better and he has seen a huge improvement since he called me.

Today DH is taking Ian and Jameson to the eye doctor. Jameson wants to get contacts. He's 13, so I guess he's old enough. He's responsible enough to take care of them, so if the dr. says it's OK, we'll let him get them.

Gotta run...

Joanne

Hi ladies..

I got that leg workout done!! Then I showered had breakfast and went to the grocery store..Lauren went with Vic to his office today and then she is going with him to a dinner meeting for work. I was suppose to go. But, we couldn't find someone to watch the kids. So, I couldn't go and Vic decided to take Lauren in my place. She was excited about that...

So, we would have been doing school lessons. But, can't get one to do anything if the other is not there!!

Hey again...

I finally got myself down and did DISC 17: Legs. Trisets again. The slide back lunges on the paper plate with weights KILL me, I can NOT for the life of me get down that far with those. I think my legs were a little tighter from my run yesterday too. But still, OW! I did the Basic Stretching from TBS, which is really leg/lower body focused. Felt good!

Beth: The way I saw the girl swing the KB was with a wide leg stance and holding it with 2 hands, arms straight, she swung them down to (but now through) her legs and then up to about eye level. Is that how you do it? It seems to pull on the shoulders, no? What a strange dream!! I am the queen of strange dreams, so I totally understand. Once I dreamed I had some sort of threesome with George Bush (Jr.) and some other guy in a hotel room. But my dreams are usually very vivid and weird!

Joanne: VERY nice that you had good news at the conferences yesterday! Doesn't it just give you this good feeling inside? Mine was "ok". Alex's report card ranged from C's to A's. His attention is apparently a problem. He's not distracting others, but distracted himself, quietly, playing with 'things' and not paying attention when she's teaching. *sigh* .... Dark Chocolate Pomegranates sound VERY healthy/earthy/crunchy, Joanne! Those are bad? I love your kids' responses! .... Very cool about ME and yes, Cathe's rotation have a lot of variety and some leeway to play with. Like doing "cardio of your choice" for her cardio days, it you want to. So you're feeling better today? You'd have to be for ME!!... For Plyo Legs, just do NOT do #1, any of the others are better. #1 I just didn't like, and thought I wouldn't like ANY of the plyos after doing that one. I forget exactly why!

Kathy: That's too bad you couldn't find someone to watch the kids for that dinner. (I would do it!). I bet Lauren is in heaven though! Will you do something fun with just you and Chris?

All the boys are outside now. Yay. peace....

I did IM2 plus Ab burner this morning. I needed it badly...just something that would get me revved up you know? And then I got stuck in traffic and realized I left all my lab books and new data at home. That's fine because I have a couple experiments to pass the time today but I was hoping to find the "conclusion" to the analysis today. I was having the hardest time with my laces today...I have to redo them depending on the kind of sock I wear. I usually wear these super thin ones to work but for step workouts I have this thick cushiony one and I just couldn't get my left foot right until about the 9th interval. Figures. I'm thinking about pushing to do STS Legs today as well...maybe if I tire myself out completely i'll pass out at bedtime like I want to!

I wish I had dreams like yours. Most of my dreams involve work and are realistic enough that I have to distinguish between reality and dreamworld. Very very annoying.

Chris -- I always think I'm doing the paper plate lunge thing wrong because I can never go as deep as them but man do I feel it!

Joanne -- that's so great about the PT conferences! My mother could never believe I was social because I was such a quiet, loner child at home (yeah, I know, its true). I wasn't like a socialite but I wasn't all alone either so it would really freak out my mother.

Kathy -- oh I can totally see how you can't get one to work when the other is away! That's too funny! How do you even put up a fight?! :)

Beth -- that gym sounds really cool! I think I'd like to try a rotating rock mountain. Nah, I'm too chicken about falling off...

Ok, I'll be back most likely but I need to take care of some things at the bench first and then some lunch.

Here to vent a little with you guys. I'm coming down from one of my worst fears almost happening,

Greg left with all 3 boys around 3:30p. I thought he was taking Zach on his paper route, and then taking them all to Walmart.

Well, I get a call from Zach saying he's out on his paper route (about 1 mile away) and he feels "low" and has no sugar tabs with him. (He rode his bike, he wasn't with Greg!!!)

Holy shit! I grabbed sugar tabs, the emergency glucogon pen (like an epi pen, is he goes unresponsive from a low sugar )and snacks and FLEW out in a full blown panic! There he was sitting on the side of the rode all pale and crappy looking. I can't even tell you how panicky I was! I'm still shaking . he had the sugar tabs and a snack, I threw his bike in the car, and we did the rest of his paper route. He sat in the car and I literally RAN to the houses . I had so much energy in me!

And then I start thinking of this obituary of a girl in the paper I saw that had Type 1 diabetes.

Between yesterdays HIGH blood sugars and today's LOWS, I'm done. I'm cooked. I need a spa for a week!

Oh Chris! I can imagine the panic that set in when you saw Zach! Ug! I hope he's ok now. So good that you were able to rush out and help him! Wow.

On the swings..... I don't swing up that high at all unless I'm purposely doing a high swing, and yes, then your arms come into play a whole lot more. What Tracy taught me to do was to keep the swing low, make it all in your legs. This is why they caution newbies to start with a heavier bell, because you really don't want your arms doing the work for the most part. It's all about the hip snap, and the bell is just floating in your hands really, and your arms come into play to stop it and then the motion goes down. If that makes sense.....

Joanne, I know what you mean about being nice only getting yourself ready today -- it was kind of like that for me -- no lunches to pack -- hoooray!

The gym was pretty cool, but not quite what I expected. First off, they did not have the rotating rock climbing wall, which they described to me as a treadmill on end, and only one kid could go at a time, with an adult always supervising, so they decided it wasn't practical. They have a long climbing all and the kids go across it horizontally more than vertically. They played some "rock wall twister" (right hand on red, etc.). They had a bunch of things like wii fit, which is what I wasn't expecting -- not wii fit exactly, but similar -- they did have some race things where you had to cycle. The coolest thing, I thought, was a big floor that lights up. They had a bunch of different games to do with it -- one was dodge ball, where there was a lit up "ball" that couldn't touch you -- you had to hop or move around to avoid it. Then there was the opposite where you had to jump on your color of ball. It looked really fun -- I wanted to join in. :p They have tiny weight machines that you have to be at least 10 to use, but Travis showed no interest, and some other things. They have a room where they teach martial arts, kickboxing, zumba(!), and.... yoga.... maybe that's all. My kids really liked it, but.... they were the only kids in there today, so they had their run of the place. With a bunch of kids in there they may not like it so much, but they definitely want to go back. Next week they have minimum days, so I figure we can go and hopefully beat the rest of the pack. Of course I'm assuming the other schools don't have minimum days.

We got some errands run, clean bill of health at the dentist -- I'm amazed -- was really expecting cavities, and I've gotten some cleaning done here but there it still lots to do so I'd better get back to it.... just needed a break.

Oh, Joanne, I have a feeling the plyo legs may get harder as you get into the meso further, but.... I do seem to recall that I enjoyed 3 or 4 more. Can't quite remember which. Sorry! I'm going to attempt PUB tomorrow -- we'll see if I can do it!
