Good morning ladies...

I have got some good DOMS going in my chest mainly and some in my shoulders from yesterday's workout...This week it was 80% and drop sets...Yikes!!! Today is the all step premix from cardio fusion...

Be back later!!

Good morning, everyone!

3.gif

Today is 1/2 day for 2 of my boys (elementary schools) so I have to get my act together earlier today. I'm going to make a trip to Walmart after they get off on the bus. I'm going to throw on my running clothes and stop at the park on my way back for a run! ... Zach is gone today on a field trip to the University of Massachusetts to see "Cirque Mechanics in a Birdhouse Fashion" , which is "highly skilled clowning, contortion, acrobatics and mime". I'm so jealous! But he worries me because he says the best thing about UMASS is , "the cafeteria for lunch, they have SO MANY CHOICES of all kinds of food!!" Great, Zach. Only my diabetic son would love the food the best *sigh*.

I'm so tired too. I was up with high blood sugars over night with Zach. Headache is gone, though! YAY! I'm starting to feel some good DOMS in the chest area... I'm sure they'll kick in even more later...

Kathy: 80% and dropsets! COOL! CF step sounds like a fun one, enjoy!

BBL!

Go DOMs! Good work, ladies!

Chris, that UMASS thing sounds really fun! Funny about the food -- will you worry about him today? Sounds like you have a good, quick day planned.

I wasn't sure I'd feel like working out this morning, but woke up early and figured what the heck. I started with my chiro exercises to get them out of the way -- probably good, I think I do them better that way then trying to rush through at the end. Then I did KCM's kickbox. I had thought I'd do both 30 min. workouts, but when she started in on the second, I felt pretty done! I liked that workout though -- I sort of gave up on it immediately after I got it, but I'm going to give it another few gos. It's promising. Then I did my 200 swings which I almost forgot about.

I'm tired, and feeling a bit overwhelmed about work, the state of my house, our bills, etc. I've got to crank through some things! Have a great day everyone! Joanne, did your dad get out of the hospital yet?

Morning. I did not sleep well at all last night. Even though I was exhausted I just couldn't seem to stop tossing and turning. Joe got up at started running....so jealous. I have a therapy appt (and so does Joe) so we both are going to that and then going into work late but I'm freaking out a bit because that part of the experiment that someone else is supposed to do -- I just found out she doesn't have the time/want to do it and the machine is acting up so I can't even do it myself. Just not a great way to start the morning! We'll see what I cobble extra in the next week though for work. I hope to hop on the elliptical at the school gym today to at least combat some of these stresses.

Kathy -- I don't have any DOMS...yet. I'm sure its just my fatigue and lack of sleep combating it! :) Have fun on CF! I want that one so badly!

Chris -- oh I hate school cafeteria food...and it's all so commercialized now. They had to move ours last year (into this makeshift building that I think looks like a macaroon) and it's all these commercial places like Carls, Baja Fresh, Wolfgang Pucks...and such insane prices. Though I guess the mentality is different if you're only there for one day (or a spoiled little undergrad!). Our token "health" place in that place too is red mango so I'm happy about that! I think there's a salad bar but the food looks awful. Thankfully, the Togos is equidistant from my building so if I eat out, I just dump my money there...

Beth -- is that the new 30 minute ones from KCM? I do like her second step boxing one. You and your kbells! Whenever you talk about them makes me want to get one!

Oh and last night's salmon. Well, it didn't turn out so great. I don't think it's Joe's fault but the quality of the salmon. So, I was barely able to touch it after a point. And then I put the food on the coffee table and went on the computer and the instant Joe had gone into the kitchen my Evee decided she wanted to eat the rest of my salmon. Joe comes back as she's swallowing the rest whole. Oh how he yelled and how she was scared! She got put in her crate (I guess the equivalent for grounding), but it took everything to not say "good dog for not letting mommy waste food!"

The yogurt appears to have not set overnight either so I think we're 0-2 for cooking...

Hi ladies. Still not feeling 100% - thinking of trying one of those neti-pots? Anyone ever used them? I'm so congested and my head feels like it's going to explode! Caitlyn went up to 102 last night, so she's home from school today with DH. Poor thing can barely breath - she's so stuffy.

Chris, have an awesome run!! Too funny - Jameson is always excited about cafeterias, too. That show does sound fun, though. I didn't realize I could see what the kids got for lunch everyday, but on the site where you can add money to their lunch accounts it also lists what they bought every day. Ian has gotten a chicken sandwich and a jumbo cookie for like 30 days in a row. ;) Variety is the spice of life - maybe he gets a different kind of cookie each day?

Beth, I like that KCM, too, but it takes a few times to get the choreo down and then I enjoyed it more. No, my dad is still in the hospital. The urologist said he's OK to go home, but his GP said not yet. Maybe in the next couple days. I hear ya on the overwhelmed - I'm feeling the same way about the same things! We just need to tackle one thing at a time and take it one day at a time, right?

Hottie, we'll all have to take you out for a drink (or few) after you finish that experiment! ;) Evee likes her fish, huh? ;) I caught Tully trying to gingerly and quietly sneak up on the kitchen table to get some bacon the other morning. I was watching her - it was too funny - she was trying to be so quiet. I yelled her name as she was about to make her final move and scared the poor thing. But, she left it alone! I've had bad food experiences the last couple days, too. I made chicken quesadillas last night, thinking the kids would like them. I thought they were fine. They were all complaining, what's wrong with regular tacos, why do you have to make fancy stuff,....OK, chicken quesadillas are not fancy. I told them I give up - they can have PB&J every night! My family has some serious food issues.

Oh, Chris, I did the second Turbo Kick workout on vol. 2 this morning. The music is much louder than the first workout (I took a quick look at it). You should give that one a try - it was good.

Happy DOMS Kathy! Enjoy CF! Oh, yes, my bootah is a-hurtin from B&G!

Off to a meeting in a bit...better get ready...

Joanne

Hey Girls!!

Got my morning done. Went to Walmart ($70 for perscriptions..UGH!), stopped at the grocery store for Quinoa (going to make Quinoa Stuffed Peppers tonigh) and then made it to the park for a run. I'm still not 100%, whether it's from the flu mist or from not sleeping good last night (or both). It was a nice 45 minute run, but I didn't have the energy I usually do. And the endorphins weren't as intense as usual, but I still felt good! It was so nice, filtered sunshine, 60 degrees. Nice to be outside. I came home and thought about what ab workout I wanted to do. I pulled out Greg's P90X and did Ab Ripper X. Holy *@#$! Unbelievable workout. I could NOT do all those moves, but I tried like heck. I really do like Tony. I know people don't.

Beth: I am worrying a little about Zach. I'm not sure what their cafeteria consists of, but I'm sure there's a whole crapload of evil choices for Zach to get into trouble with. But the day goes by quickly, he'll be home in a few hours now, and we'll see the damage. .... Glad you got your workout in! I know , it feels better once you actually start doing it. I know I have a step workout (Tracy Staehle) that I tried once and I gave up on. I should try it again at some point. ... Sounds like you may have a tidal wave dream coming your way? I hate that feeling of being overwhelmed, and I usually don't do well with it. I find that a glass of wine or beer and music helps me chill out when I work myself up so bad. ...

Hottie: Oh crap on the experiment! hope things work out today! ... I think not being able to sleep when your'e tired is worse than my situation, having to get up every 3 hours (for blood sugar checking). I did not have any trouble sleeping though. Passed out cold and quick as soon as my head hit the pillow all 3 times! ... LOL @ Evee and the fish! We were just talking about fish at work this weekend. Salmon being the least "liked" fish, because it tends to be more "fishy" than others (tilapia, scrod). ... Were you making your own yogurt?

Joanne: Oh no on Caitlyn having a fever again! Poor thing! And she seemed like she was improving yesterday too. ... Yes, I have a neti pot, Joanne, and have used it many times before. It's not the most pleasant thing to do, but it does relieve pressure and "cleanses out the sinuses". I'm not sure if it works well if you're full of "secretions" , where you're blowing your nose all the time. But if it's all dried up there with pressure in your head, I bet it could work. i got mine at Walgreen's, pretty cheap. It's blue plastic and came with a bunch of little saline packets you mix with the water. ... Too funny about Jameson and the chicken sandwich & cookies! I used to look up the menu and help Zach figure out the carbs of what he was going to eat for the day. He's done it for so long, he kind of knows or can knowledgably guess how many carbs are in foods, so now he just picks what he wants when he gets there. I do know he gets a cookie every day, though. .... OMg, that is too funny about the quesadillas. You're so fancy//smancy, Joanne!

2 funny kid-isms today. #1. At the bus stop this morning (the end of our driveway) Alex and his friends were playing in the trees. They were doing pull ups on the branches. They were having this disagreement about chin-ups vs. pull-ups. Alex yells out, "My mom knows the difference! She works out!" .. I was kind of proud of myself that I DID know the difference! :) #2. Alex and Jake came home and were discussing that they had lunch at school. But Alex was all upset because, "WE didn't even have recess!!! No fair"! Hellooooo Al!... You have 3 hours to play outside RIGHT NOW! 3 HOURS of recess! Omg , kids!

I have to go to a teacher/parent conference for Alex at 2pm... Should be interesting. I seem to always be suprised (for good OR bad) at these things...

Hey back at work now. Therapy is so weird..it's very good and unsatisfying at time...mostly because how can I cram in all the things that stress me out in 50 minutes! I can't! But I came to find that the "other" experiment I did yesterday (related but not the big one from last week) seems to be going the way I want it. Yay! I like doing these experiments more and it's a super specialized thing and I'm the only one in the lab that can do it this advanced so I get to feel "special." Also, very excited about moving forward in that line as well. My therapist sort of pushed that I make some "me time" for myself before my meeting next week but I'm so afraid to stop working when things are working!! We'll see. I've decided I'm getting a brazilian blow out for myself. I'll get it probably after my meeting but its my bday present to myself. Do you guys know what that is?

Hey Joanne -- do you like spicy food? When i'm super congested I like to get hot and sour soup and put in the hot oil. Eat that with a bunch of tissues and it clears you up in a snap. Sorry Caitlyn took a turn for the worse. At least she didn't say it was because you didn't get her smoothie! You know what weirded me out about Evee? She usually doesn't go after food lying around...once we left pizza in the box ajar for hours and she didn't touch it. And I just fed her (hence why I got up originally)...but man...she was weird for the next couple hours. Like, she usually prefers to cuddle with me but it was all about Daddy yesterday. I've never seen her get so close. I got a little jealous even thinking I should yell at her some more if I get this great obedient treatment! I hope your dad can come home soon but I'd rather they be cautious than not.

Chris -- So I saw P90x on Craigslist for $60 (I troll that website when I don't want to graduate..erm, when I need a break from science) and I thought about getting that for Joe but he seems very committed to start STS again so I'm not sure if I want to distract him with anything else. Joe is putting me on his health care this year to help the cost of my prescriptions. It turns out that I end up paying about $30/mo by doubling on his plan just factoring in my raised prescription price. That doesn't even include that I get to enter his much more awesome network of doctors and I don't even need a referral for his network so if I feel ill over the weekend, I'm not screwed until Monday.

I need to shove food in my mouth like NOW!

Chris, good job on the run. My workouts (when they happen) have been tough lately cause I've been feeling crappy, so I know what you mean. I've heard that AbRipper is brutal. Gee, if I ever pulled out any of the P90X workouts that I have and actually DID one, I might actually know! OK, maybe I'll try the neti-pot. Can't hurt. I need to do it when no one is around or lock myself in the bathroom cause I can just imagine the comments. ;) Good luck at the conference. I have to go to FOUR today. Yikes - what was I thinking, scheduling them all the same day? Get it over at once, I guess!

Hottie, OK, I think I know what the Brazilian thing is but am not going to guess, because if I'm wrong, I'll be really embarrassed? So, based on what I just said, is it what I think it is?? It seems my kids can be OK during the day when they are sick and then the fevers spike at night. Thankfully she's been better about taking Motrin, so I've been giving that to her. Aw, poor Evee! She feels bad for letting you down! Tully will eat anything if you leave it out. She occasionally gets in the garbage when we aren't home and that drives me BONKERS! Nothing worse than coming home and finding garbage and wrappers all over the floor/house. She knows she's been bad cause she hides when we get home if she's done it. We know if she's not there to greet us at the front door something's wrong. She'll usually be cowering under the dining room table.

Gotta run...

Joanne

Nope Joanne I don't think you do! Check it here: http://www.glamour.com/beauty/blogs...t/2009/04/new-celeb-obsession-the-brazil.html

It's for my hair. My sister gets it done. I like my waves but its too much effort lately to not look like a crazy person. Very excited.

My favorite story about dog eating food is from my childhood. I went to school with a cold and it got worse in the day. Typical east coast weather too, rainy and sleety cold outside. I come through the door and my mother gets me some soup ready. My mother used to make me feed my dog before I ate but that day I was feeling so sick that my mother literally told the dog, I'll feed you after I feed your sister. Anyway, Missy wouldn't have any of that. While I had gone to the bathroom my mom had put the soup on the table where I usually sit. When I came back, there was an empty bowl. My dog had climbed onto the chair and licked it CLEAN. And she was licking her mouth as we realized it too. My dog was such a little princess...she didn't even feel bad about that one! If she could talk, I swear she was saying, "I said first feed me, b*tch." And that's why Evee never eats before I do! I'm never going to let that happen again. :)

Oh Chris -- yes, I was making my own yogurt. I'm a little foodie..that's why I'm so chunky. :)

Ok, small break from the bench...I've only counted about 3000 colonies...about another 2000 left. I'm thinking about leaving early so I can do some of the data processing at home, make dinner, clean, workout, etc. But only if I make good time so I need to shut up! :)

Hottie...alrighty...well, I'm glad I didn't say what I thought you might be talking about. :) :) There's another type of Brazilian thingie.... I say go for the blowout - you deserve it!! Sounds like your childhood dog was treated well! Our rule is Tully always eats after the humans - something about the whole alpha dog thing - they are supposed to eat after you.

Have to leave soon to start going to conferences...fun, fun. I don't anticipate any surprises, although Ian is always a wildcard!!

Joanne

This has to be quick because I've got to fly soon (on my broom!). First, anything with the name "brazilian" in it scares me! Second, I don't like cooked salmon, generally (it's a texture thing for me), but when it's good quality, it's my favorite sushi. Three, sorry about Caitlyn! Four, conferences... mine are next week back to back. They're only 10 minutes each, I think! Crazy..... but, I know what you mean about the surprise factor... it's a little hard going into them!

Oh, just scrolled down and saw there were more posts.... I wondered if it was a hair thing!

Oh, still no sweets here, unless you count a ricola lozenger, and I sure don't!!

gotta go.....

Hey Again...

I guess I should have been more worried about Zach on the field trip. He walked in the door and told me had a headache and had JUST vomitted on the lawn as soon as he got off the bus! I thought at first his sugar was VERY high (and he was in dangerous ketoacidosis), but he was 168, which is "ok". No fever. But he looked extremely pale. He said it was SO LOUD on the bus, at the event, everywhere. His head hurt. I ended up getting to look at his pump to see what carbs he put in for the day. Holy :eek:! He ate SOOO much! He put something in every 30 minutes to an hour all afternoon for a total of over 300 carbs!!! His blood sugar is going to be so freakin out of whack all night. I could kill him! He said, "Can't I just be a kid?". A kid that gorges and pukes? Oh, yeah, sure , honey, that's always a nice experience for KIDS!

No huge surprises at Alex's conference. I saw his report card (coming out on Friday). He didn't do great in reading/comprehension, that was his worst grade (70). She did say that he is quietly distracted in class. Plays quietly with things while she's talking. She did figure this out, eventually, and put him in the front of the class recently. Hopefully that will help.

I don't think I told you, my mom called me last night, and told me her neighbor had died yesterday. This neighbor was someone who has lived there longer than I've been alive. they were very close , all the families were. I was BF's with their daughter, my sister hung with their other daughter, and my brother with their son. Anyways, she was older, and had emphysema. But it was kind of shocking and extremely sad. Worse even than an old aunt or uncle for me. She really was like family. I'm also worried about my mom, she was very upset. :(

Hottie: That is cool you can do advanced experiments! Very impressive, actually! Yeah, I thought the 'brazilian blow out' had something to do with another hairy part of the body! But it looks pretty cool from the link you sent! ... Funny story about your dog and the soup! ... Yes, I'm a HUGE foodie too! Not only do I eat because of stress, I also just LOVE food!

Joanne: LOL @ the neti pot behind closed/locked doors! My boys weren't so impressed with it. They don't bother me after they saw me the first time.

Good luck to everyone with their conferences! My second one is Thursday w/ Zach's teachers and then it just hit me today that I never got anything from Jake's teacher! I wonder if I missed something?!!?
