Murphy

Cathlete
I hope everyone had a good weekend. We had good weather so it was nice. Yesterday was LIC and today was S&G. As you can see, I have made some rotations within the rotation. I really need to stop hiding from Aferburn. It is one of my favorites but I also now it will kick my booty. :p

Murphy, I know what you mean about Afterburn. I'm still not over it! But it is a very fun, tough workout. It's been so nice here, too, and I've pretty much taken my exercise outside. I'm now on a dog/kid walking routine! I'll take it, though, when the schedule gets busy - I'm glad to do ANYTHING active.
I just hope I can do LIC tomorrow - I think I'm hiding from this one, too, Murphy!

Today I did upper body. I went a little heavier and felt the difference. I had to sit a moment b/c my UB was so tired and spent. I need to do the same for my legs. I am not sure if I am up to turro barre. that one really gets in there good for me.

Tricia - I know what you mean about the nice weather. I was out yesterday and it was so nice to be out of the stuffy house and into the sunshine. I think the summer is going to be hot. I feel like it is too nice too soon. Let me know what you think of LIC.

Today I did lower body but not turbo barre. I wish it had some premixes that were short. That dvd is something I need to save for the weekend - when I have time to recover!

Hi Murphy & kblvr,

I have veered off course a bit, hope you won't mind. We have decided to sign up for the USMC Mud Run in April - exactly ONE MONTH from today!! My DH is a marine (no longer active, but you know what they say about Marines!). Anyway, he's wanted to do this and he so sneakily convinced me to try it. We will have our kids in the Devil Pup Challenge, too. SO the next month will be interesting & Different. You should be able to check it out @ USMC Ultimate Challenge Mud Run or something to that effect.

Therefore, I started with a very small run yesterday (1/2 mile), and today we did the kids fitness prep. and a mile run around the neighborhood.

Will fill you in more tomorrow - it's late now & I'm TIRED!

I have heard of the Mud Run. Congrats to you both on giving it a go and starting your training. Good luck with it all. How old are your kid? It is great that they are involved too.

I made today an easy day and focused on abs and stretching.

Hi Murphy.

I'm sortof looking forward to the Mud Run & dreading it at the same time! I have 3 kids, a 9 year old daughter, and my 7 year old boy/girl twins. The 7 year olds will be in the youngest age group, so they'll just get extremely muddy. The oldest will get to do the obstacle course for kids, which ought to be pretty cool.

The part I don't like is running, it's never been my favorite thing. But I do like how it makes me feel when I'm done, to have accomplished a run (and the physical benefits are nice, too!) I'm going to investigate the training for this more, but I'll be doing alot of exercises that incorporate moving my own body weight to get ready for pulling myself over walls, walking along the rope over water, and swinging rope to rope. None of these are easy for me, so it's a great challenge!

I'm trying to see which Cathe workouts I can incorporate into this training. Got any suggestions?

Tricia - I wish I could think of a workout that would help, but I am drawing a blank. All I can think of is STS stuff to increase your strength and HIIT stuff to increase your stamina. ????

You know, Murphy, that's kind of what I was thinking, too. STS that utilized all the pull-ups, push-ups, etc. And now that you mention it, HIIT should definitely build my stamina, plus if I remember correctly, there was a good bit of explosive jumping, which is recommended during this training period.

I may need to check out the specific exercises in these to fine-tune a program.

Thanks for the input, I had been focused on STS and really didn't think of HIIT at first. :)
