Nothing sounds good to eat anymore!

I'm having problems with food. I am not eating enough and it's effecting my work-outs. My first meal is usually around noon because after I work out in the mornings, I am just not hungry. I usually eat a salad for lunch. My next meal is dinner at 8pm, after I have taken care of all the animals and get to relax.

It's been so hot I think that the temperature is the major factor that keeps me from eating. I drink so much water too because I am outside a lot during the day. Some mornings I think I might vomit when I'm working out, maybe from an empty stomach? Everyone keeps telling me I need to eat breakfast.

I think I could handle drinking better than eating. Can you recommend some good protein drinks for me to try? Any other advice about food for mornings? Thank you!

I'm a lot like this, especially on high heat index days.

Instead of thinking, "I must eat meals", try to just snack lightly all day. So don't think "breakfast", "lunch", and "dinner". Instead think, "I'll have a yoghurt now", and an hour later, come back to graze on a handful of cherries, then next time you drift through the house or kitchen, grab a handful of granola and hunk of cheese. Later snack on some baby carrots, a slice or to of lean ham, etc, and so on throughout the day until you get your real meal in the evening.

Sorry I don't have any smoothies recipes, they're not my thing.

You can graze and remain healthy. Try to remember a supplement to ensure you have all the vitamins and minerals your body needs.

Also if working out on an empty stomach, I usually drink a mix of water and orange juice. The sugars help me with energy lows.

Thanks, Clare! You gave me some good tips. I'll try to start snacking more and make sure I take a vitamin. The orange juice and water is a really good idea, I'll give it a try this morning! Thanks again.

Apologies Clare, but I just had to chime in here.

If you haven't tried it before, be careful with drinking orange juice on an empty stomach. I know a lot of people can do it, but orange juice is highly acidic and if you drink it on an empty stomach and have any stomach sensitivity, you will have a very unpleasant sensation and possibly even become nauseous. In my opinon, some kind of yogurt drink would be a much better choice first thing in the morning, unless you've had orange juice or grapefruit juice before and know that you can tolerate it.

Okay, I feel better now that I've said that. Good luck!

I'm feeling the same way you are. Its so hot who wants to eat. I've been preparing, however, a protein shake using 1-2 scoops of whey vanilla protein powder (Jay Robb's) w/6 frozen strawberries & 12 oz. mineral water. Sometimes I put a tablespoon of natural pb in it too. You do need to eat breakfast though. You know its the MOST IMPORTANT meal of the day. Also you could have a 3 eggwhite omelette w/the shake. This would round out your breakfast & also make sure to put in some beans w/your salad at lunchtime. HTH, Kathy:D

You're very right, Nancy. Also avoid tomatoe based juices if you have these issues.
