nothing is as effective as Cathe!?

Since I started Cathe videos, I simply cannot find any other videos that challenge me as much as Cathe videos do! Things I've tried recently include: Turbo Jam, Mindy Mylrea's All about Abs and Cardio Toolbox, and Janis Saffell's Brand New Butt. None of them are even remotely effective for me! It's disappointing, as I could use a little variety. I'm tempted to try P90x, but if past events predict the future, I'll feel like I've wasted money. What's a girl to do?

You wouldn't be disappointed in P90X - it's a very effective series and it complements Cathe very well. I thought I had strong abs until I tried AbRipperX.

The most effective exercise is the exercise you'll do. If you like Cathe, stick with her.

I thought Cathe was the toughest out there until I tried a P90X rotation (do the rotation not just individuals workouts for the full effect!) I was wrong!

It's one of the best programs out there, for sure.

I'm actually waiting clear until August to try another P90X rotation as I a-sceered to commit. It's tough.

I have bought tons of them too and i still only do cathe.
I bought p90 x and i am one of the few that don't like it. It is not my cup of tea.it is collecting dust.It is a matter of preference.
Turbo jam i sent back... The firm are ready for e-bay soon.
I do like karen voit's pilates with the ring.
Cathe has enough variety for me. I am into the gym styles right now.

As far as strength training, P90X is up there with the toughest of Cathe. Many say tougher. As far as cardio, the only P90X that is close to Cathe is Plyo X -- which I do like. It is different from Cathe cardio, so it really does add to workout variety. The other cardio workouts in P90X (Kenpo and Cardio X) are intermediate level. Ab Ripper is great, and a good one to add to the mix of ab workouts.

I do need variety, both for health and interest -- so I also do Powerstrike (it's as challening as K,P,C but it doesn't have abs so you have to add them), Tae Bo Ripped Advanced, and Turbo Kick (you have to be a certified TK instructor to get these). I also don't mind mixing up intensity a bit, so some of the Firms and Turbo Jams work for me.

But, I would have to say 'nothing is as effective as Cathe.'

There are quite a few workouts/instructors that can be as effective as Cathe, or even more so (though she tends to be effective in several different areas, while most others tend to be either effective in cardio or effective in resistance training).

For me, P90X surpasses Cathe in upper body and core results. It's worth every penny I paid for it (and I didn't get a discount like some people who ordered it later did).

Mindy does have more effective workouts than those you mentioned. I don't have cardio toolbox, but others have said they don't like it near as much as several of her other cardio workouts. I do have "All About Abs," and think it's a great add-on workout.

Cardio Coach is a guided interval workout on CD that can be as effective, IMO, as Cathe's Imaxes.

Powerstrike I and II can be as intense as KPC.

There are some CIA workouts that may offer as challenging a cardio workout as Cathe (they tend to have more complex cardio, so they don't appeal to me personally).

I have to comment on Cardio Toolbox. I just rented this from Netflix and it was horrible! It is the first workout by Mindy that I have ever tried. The combos were not cued well and they didn't flow well at all either (IMHO). I am willing to give her another try with other workouts because I found out that this is not one of her better ones. So, I totally agree with you on the Cardio Toolbox. Yuck!

Nothin'. You're screwed. If you don't do Cathe you will turn into a blob like creature and meld into your couch. Sorry. :p

Live with sincerity, love with passion, and dance like you mean it.

I just wanted to say thanks for your comment on P90X. I was hesitating about getting it, but I think I will now. Thanks. Should I keep anything in mind before starting?

Thanks,

Carrie:)

i have done two of her strength workouts(awesome strength and strength express) those are really great workouts and so different then most out there. BUT i got awesome intervals from netflix, FORGET IT. i couldn't even do the warm up b/c she didn't even cue the moves well let alone show us what SHE was referring too. i am not sure when i will get cardio toolbox but now i will be aware that its not just me who has trouble with mindy's cardio. honestly i haven't found ANY cardio that matches cathe without being over the top complex in choreography. but strength workouts i have tried a variety and enjoy them all whether light weight or heavy weight and so on.

I'm finding the TLT workouts to be as effective as Cathe as in I work up a good sweat, love them, do them, and see myself improving every time I do one. They work me in a completely different way from Cathe workouts, but I'm defintely worked out. I will never part from my beloved Cathe workouts, but I'm finding the need to cross train and mix up the intensity as I was getting burned out on Cathe (I was shocked and thought this would NEVER happen to me)! I am so ready for her new workouts and am so glad I never even thought to cancel my preorder. Cathe is and will always be my all time favorite instructor!!! One day, I will try Power 90X....I may ask hubby about it for my birthday, but by then there may be new TLT's, or new Cathe's.....

Kassia, I am going to try to be open minded about her and I heard that Action Packed and Interval Express are two good ones from her. They are listed at Netflix and I have them in my queue, but they have a very long wait. I am excited to try those. All I can say is thank goodness for Netflix! The thing that I thought was funny about the lack of cueing and everything was that it isn't even nearly as complex as Cathe's choreo, but she doesn't cue it and you have no clue what is going on and are just standing in front of the TV. Good luck with future Netflix rentals. Let us know if you try any good ones. I did like Kari Anderson's Reach and Christi Taylor's Totally Cool Step that I tried. Those are the only ones so far.

I agree. Cathe is my favorite. So far the only one I don't like is Step, Jump and Pump. I tried the firm transfirmer series. I thought it was okay but some of the cardio is seriosly cheesey and the music is blah. So once winter was over I went right back to taping Cathe off of Fittv. I also like Allstar Workouts, Patrick Goudeau and Petra Kolber. But Cathe is by far my favorite.:+ Jenn;-)

Acatalina-
Instead of your P90X collecting dust, why not lend it to Amy so she can try before she buys? We could start our own workout-swap and try to trade the ones we don't like for some we do from other board members.

i have these on my list as well. i heard christi's choregraphy is a bit tricky but she cues well and the workouts are a blast. there is a wait on these. so far i have done awesome strength, jari's ripped, awesome intervals, and killer kicks(a killer waste of time). i did enjoy jari's workout but i think i will wait until her newer ones are available through netflix b/c i heard the newer ones are more challenging. but awesome strength was pretty good using all sorts of equipment so you can change the workout everytime you do it, and i love using the medicine ball.
