Well someone asked this and i told them i would let them know.
I have only got on the bike and treadmill twice since surgery.
Everone said i lookes like i was loosing more weight.
I finally am deswelling so i got on the scale . I dropped 4 lbs. this week and have not been trying.
I went back to work mon and ended up with a terrible back ache so i am taking it easy....
Doc said :Too much too soon!!!!!
Well he gave me darvocetts....
I am not working hard. I am not washing,or cleaning tanning beds. I am only color, cut , perming and sitting...
Oh, they had these tapes on my incisions...
They glued me..
No stitches... How cool is that?I think scarring will be minimal..

But, the real question :
If we lay off the weights will we drop pounds on the scale??
I think your muscles hold water after lifting and when you take a break it releases it because your muscles are healed from rest...
What do ya think...
Or this gall bladder was keeping the weight on me for some reason...
Well have a good day...

Healing takes a lot of energy, just like a workout. Oftentimes post surgery your appetite is not always up to par so it makes sense you are losing weight. Just be careful jumping back into things.

I had surgery a couple of years ago and wasn't able to do much at all for about 4-6 weeks. During that time I didn't gain weight. I pretty much ate what I wanted, just didn't eat many sweets. Go figure.

This phenomenon has been posted several times over the years. I have also experienced it. Basically, it could be muscles not holding water or the fact that muscle weighs more or a combination of both. I just wonder how long it is before weight starts coming back on due to not working out.

For me it has always been the less I work out, the less I weigh. I think this is because:

1. when I gain muscle I weigh more
2. my appetite increases when I'm working out
3. when I'm nervous and stressed out I don't have the energy for exercise, and, although I don't notice it, my appetite probably is diminished during such times.

I don't know which factor is the most influential of these three.

I'm not sure. I do know that the times I've restarted exercise without dieting, I usually go up by about 3 lbs..but during those times, I've noticed positive changes in my body so I definately don't think it was 3 lbs of fat. They say you can't gain muscle that fast, so I assume it must be water or something.

I'm exactly like Nancy. I struggle to keep weight on, so it's NOT a good thing when I start losing. I do notice that the less I work out the more the weight drops. I think it's all about appetite.... more working out = bigger appetite, and less working out = smaller appetite.

I think I posted about this topic, after I went to Maine for 7 days, ate what I wanted and got no exercise, and came back weighing less and feeling great. Weird.

Well i have no choice.
It is taking all i got to work all day.
I am exhausted at 6 when i am done.
I am trying to get on the bike, but i am sore and tired,
I guess 2 weeks off won't kill me...
I just don't want to loose a lot of muscle that i have worked so hard for...
This dear body needs to recoup..
Thanks all.
I will be thrilled if i drop some weight though and then i can get back into things.
I see the surgeon fri for a follow up.

Anne,

Due to moving into a new house, I have not worked out since last Thursday. The only exercise I have really done is what it's taken to move and walking my dogs twice a day for about 1/2 hour. Low and behold, I put my jeans on today and they're loose.
